Chapter Text

Jin is five he is precocious, funny and sweet. He is somewhat of a mama's boy but at five who cares. He likes Mario, Princess Peach and watching his mom cook.

Namjoon is three he is noisy, hilarious, and a tiny god of destruction. He is his father's little slugger. He likes cops and robbers, playing in the dirt, and Jin.

The two have been neighbors for the past year, and while Namjoon adores the older child, Jin finds the youngsters ability to break everything in his path undesirable.

"Jin," the child's mother says slowly. "Namjoon's parent are going away for the weekend, Namjoon will be staying with us for a couple day."

"Omma, no," the little boy's eyes widen in fear.

The last time Namjoon came to their house the child broke Jin's favorite Mario toy and ate all the beef out of the kimchi stew. Jin is not happy about this arrangement.

"Do we have to keep him? Can't he go with them?" The child asks in despair.

"Jin, that's not very nice. And no he can't his mom and dad are going away for some grown-up time, and Namjoon can't go because he's not a grown-up." The woman answers back.

The little boys blinks, the confusion evident in his eyes.

"What's grown up time Omma? Do you and Appa have grown-up time?"

The woman is shaken by the child's question, "Uhmmm, yes Appa and I -- Jin let's make cookies!" The woman was not about to start this conversation with her chatty five-year-old.

"Yay, cookies!"

And just like that grown-up time was dropped.

Jin is used to rambunctious Namjoon. Jin is even used to god-of-destruction Namjoon, but Jin is not used to crying Namjoon. The five-year-old is not sure how to handle the younger boy. Namjoon is laying on the floor in the fetal position with his favorite blanket covering his face and crying for his, "omma and appa to come back."

"Joonie, it's okay," Jin says softly the tender hearted child lays beside the crying three-year-old and pats his back. "I'm here, do you want to play a game, or eat ice cream? Omma, and I are gonna make cookies later, wanna make cookies too?"

Namjoon doesn't answer, but Jin's hand on his back is soothing, and the youngster's cries are reduced to a small whimper. The little blonde turns, so he faces Jin and curls his body into the five-year-old.

"It's okay Joonie, I'm still here and we can play whatever you want. I will keep you safe till your omma and appa come back, k?" Jin says softly as he wraps his tiny arms around Namjoon.

He feels the youngster nod into his chest.

"Hyung, are omma and appa gonna come back for me?" The child asks in between broken sobs.

"Of course Joonie, all parent love their children. My omma said that your parents are just having grown-up time."

Namjoon lifts his tiny head, his lashes are wet with teardrops, but his brows are quizzical.

"What's grown-up time?"

Jin tries to remember what his mom had said but realized he never got an answer.

"Dunno, but I guess it's something only grown-ups can do."

"Ooh, so does that mean we can have grown-up time together when we grow up?" Namjoon asks innocently.

"I guess since we'll be growed and stuff," Jin answers logically.

"Do you think grown-up time is as fun as playtime, or going to the park?" Namjoon asks.

"Must be way more fun since you have to go away to do it." Jin thinks that anything that requires a trip is fun.

"I wish I was a growed-up so I could have fun grown-up time with you, hyung." The tiny blonde says.

Jin nods. They lay there talking about all the fun grown-up time things they are going to do until Jin's mom calls them to the kitchen to make cookies.

Namjoon and Jin are side by side standing on stools over the counter helping Mrs. Kim stir the cookie dough when out of the blue Namjoon announces.

"Ajumoni, when Jin and I growed up we are going to have lots of fun cause we are gonna have lot's of grown-up time together, just like my omma and appa."

At the statement Mrs. Kim drops the spoon on the ground and runs of out the kitchen laughing hysterically.

The little blonde turns to the older boy and asks, "What's so funny?"

Jin shrugs and replies, "Maybe she's just happy we'll be having our grown-up time together."

"Ooo, then I am happy too."

Jin smiles and continues stirring the dough.
