Chapter 1: Ch 1

Chapter Text

Blue woke up 10 minutes later than he normally does. This wouldn't be a problem for any normal Sans but Blue had a specific schedule he liked to stick to.
Rushing over to his closet he was grateful he wore the same outfit every day. Sometimes he got made fun of for it but it never bothered him.

On his way down the stairs he determined that he wouldn't have enough time to make his own coffee and that he would just order some from the coffee shop near the school.

For his breakfast he ate half a bagel with some jelly on it. Rushing out the door he pulled out his phone and opened the directions app. He typed in the name of the coffee shop. He had never been to this shop before so he would have to rely on the directions app for the next couple of days. That's another thing about him, he can have changes to his schedule, but they have to be permanent changes. He can't just do one thing on one occasion and then still have his usual schedule. If he did something different from his schedule it would then have to become a part of it.

Once Blue got to the coffee shop he stopped right outside of it to think about what he wanted. He looked at his phone to check the time, it was 7:20. He normally liked to arrive at school at least 30 minutes early to help staff with things in their classroom or around the building because he knew how hard school staff worked and how underpaid they were.

Blue stepped inside the coffee shop and got in line, thankfully it wasn't too long of a wait before he got to order. When he got to the counter he was surprised to see who was working there,

It was Error, Geno and Fresh's younger brother.

"Error!" Blue exclaimed, "I didn't know you worked here!"

"Tha-at's because this-s is your first time comi-i-ing here." Error remarked, his voice glitchy like usual.

Blue chuckled, "Yeah, I guess that makes sense doesn't it? But why are you working the morning shift? Doesn't that cut into school time?"

"The-e scho-ool gave m-me per-r-rmission-n to wor-k this shif-ift-ift."

Blue nodded and looked at the menu to see if what he wanted was an option. It was!

"Can I get a tall mocha frappuccino cream-based with extra whipped cream in a to-go cup?" he asked.

"Al-alrigh-t, any-ything-ing else with-th-th tha-a-a-at?"

Blue shook his head, "Nope, that's all."

"Okay that-at'll b-be $6.85." Blue took some money out of his pocket and handed it to Error. Error took it from blue's hand - careful not to touch him - and put it in the register.

"Sho-o-ould-d be ready-y-y in abou-ut 3 min-minutes." Blue smiled and went to sit at a table while he waited. He played some mobile games on his phone until he heard a glitchy voice call his name.

"Thanks Error!" Blue said before turning around and leaving the shop. As he was walking to school he came to the realization that he'd now see Error every day before school because now that there was an alteration in his schedule it was permanent.

He got to the building exactly 25 minutes early. He headed to the classroom of his favorite teacher. As Blue stepped in the room the teacher noticed him immediately,

"You're five minutes later than usual, Blue." He joked

"Yeah sorry about that, I woke up like 10 minutes late. I can help a bit more after school to make up for it."

The teacher chuckled slightly, "Don't worry about it, Blue, I was just giving you a hard time."

"You weren't giving me a hard time, it was a perfectly reasonable complaint."

"Blue, 'giving you a hard time' means nagging you jokingly for something small."

"Oh-" Blue said, a bit embarrassed. He rarely understood when people were using phrases like that. Blue set his coffee down on the desk next to him and went to go help organize papers.

"I see you got coffee." Blues teacher said.

"Huh? Oh- Yeah I did!"

"Did you get it from that place that Error works at?" His teacher asked.

"Um- Yeah. I didn't even know he had a job until 20 minutes ago."

"A lot of people around his age get a job. You should expect that most of the people in your grade will have one. Actually, you should try to get a job, Blue. It will help you save money and I know you like being productive."

"Huh, I'll look into it."

(Timeskip bc I have no Idea what to do from here)

Blue was sitting with his friends, The Stars, during lunch. Ink was drawing something while talking to him and Dream, and Dream was handing out some of his lunch to the other two.(Which Blue was quite grateful for because he didn't have time to pack lunch that morning and did not feel like eating the school food)

Blue looked over Inks shoulder and saw Error with his group of friends, they were the main delinquents of the school.

Blue never took Error as the type to have a job, He seemed too irresponsible. Geno himself had said that his brother had hated everything and everyone and that he especially hated being told what to do.

Why would he ever have the resolve to work taking orders for people? But at the same time, he listened almost every time Nightmare told him to do something, but Blue always thought that was because Error made an exception for his friends.

"Blue!" Ink yelled, "You zoned out for a second there, me and Dream were talking about the 3 of us hanging out after school. You up for it?" Blue shook his head,

"Sorry I can't. I've got things to do." He was going to be looking for jobs, like his teacher recommended. Blue's mind wandered to Error again (he was a bit weirded out by this but he was used to learning something new about someone/ doing something new and then not being able to think about much else).

(Another timeskip because I have no idea how to extend this scene)

Blue was sitting at the desk in his room looking at his computer while eating toast with Lemon Curd(Trust me it tastes really good), scrolling through job lists. Nothing really caught his eye.

He could work as a cashier. After a little bit of thinking he decided on that, it's not like there were any better options.
