Ares tossed his head back with a laugh and walked a little circle there on the balcony, an almost boyish gesture of pure delight. “Penelope!” he said when he was finished, leaning his forearms on the railing to meet her eye evenly. “Don’t you know what you are?”
Penelope knew no answer to that, though she wasn’t sure she was meant to.
“To answer your question,” Ares said, “yes, it does, but that’s not the point.”

Zeus wasn't a good father. He had rationalized that he never had a proper father to look up to, so he didn't know how to be one.
But neither did his most wronged son, Ares, and yet he was a better father than he ever was.
Zeus can't wrap his head around it.
