Chapter Text
It’s such a weird feeling to wake up, when your body thinks you are already awake.
The world slowly fades in for Dave, as he tries waking up. He doesn’t want to wake up, since it was the best sleep he has ever had in ages. However, he knows he has to get up eventually.
What greets him as is a gorgeous day at the park. At first, he doesn’t really think much of it, but as more of his sleepy daze leaves him, he snaps back into reality causing him to fully wake up. For some reason, this action feels like he’s a horse kicking a rider off of him.
“H-Huh?” Dave says to himself straightening up, despite already standing up. This isn’t where he fell asleep last. Where did he- A spark of panic ignites in Dave.
Quickly, he puts his hand on his chest and waits a few moments. Bump, bump, bump. Good, he hasn’t died. However, how did he get here? More importantly, why does his body feel weird.
Don’t get him wrong, he did expect his body still to hurt from slamming it against a wall-door over and over without break. However, the problem he has right now is that it also feels… off? He couldn’t quite explain it. It’s like he’s now a puppet connected to a bunch of string, but instead of that string leading upwards, it’s leading… inside of his body? That can’t be right. He also has this creeping feeling of being watched, as a puppet master staring in shock that their puppet suddenly moved on their own. The nightguard doubts this is normal.
“I thought paying for therapy was high on my list, but I might need see a doctor soon… How did I even leave that area?” Dave says to himself, as he gets under some shade. It’s a silly unrealistic fear that causes that, but it still relaxes him.
The nightguard starts trying to think of a reason why he’s outside and not in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza’s creepy secret room. The last thing he remembers was the dayshift guard, Martin, locking him in a secret room overnight for a ‘prank’. Afterwards, Dave freaked out, and tried to escape. His shoulder still hurts from it. Then he stared at a golden version of Freddy where he started to hallucinate and then… nothing. Guess he blacked out after that. Maybe there wasn’t enough oxygen flow in that room and fainted due to it. However, if that were the case then he would be dead and still inside the pizzeria!
Suddenly, Dave feels his body being forced to move. Instinctively, he resists whatever it is and continues trying to figure out this mystery. Maybe there was something in the air, but again, wouldn’t have killed him? He has been compared to a cockroach a few times, maybe while unconscious his body rejected death? Unlikely, but it wouldn’t be the first time that has happened to him… Even so, how did he get here?
Maybe Martin wasn’t lying about letting him out of the room in the morning. Actually, what time is it? Judging by where the sun is in the sky, (which is right next to the Toppat Clan Orbital Station), it must be-
“NOON?! HOW LONG WAS I OUT?!” Dave shouts. He jumps to his feet when suddenly, the puppet master regains control, and Dave’s body becomes stiff.
“God, I know how much the others like to complain on how hard it is to control the animatronics, but this one takes the cake!” a female voice angerly says. Her voice sounds like it’s coming from inside of Dave’s head.
“Uh, W-” Dave begins to speak but he feels his mouth being forcibly shut.
Dave feels his body tense up. He can’t move, well sort of. To calm himself down, he tries moving his hand, but it feels like he’s in tank of molasses. Despite this, he continues to wave his arm horizontally, because it’s comforting to know he is still in control. This annoys the girl in his head.
“Hey! Stop moving! And I have a name!” the voice says.
It becomes even harder to move, but Dave still keeps doing it. Wait, did she just read Dave’s mind?
“Yes, I can read your mind. I’m literally possessing you! God!”
Possessing me? Dave thinks to himself, as he still can’t get his mouth to open.
“YES! GHOSTS ARE REAL, YOU LOST, AND NOW WE ARE POSSESSING YOU!” the voice shouts, causing Dave to flinch, “Look, to prove it to your brain-dead skull-”
Dave’s left arm suddenly jolts into the sky like it’s tied to some rope. Dave then struggles to pull his arm back down.
“See?”
Huh… HOLY %&^& GHOSTS ARE REAL, AND I’M BEING POSSESSED! Wait, does that mean… oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. I can’t be a prisoner again- Images of the Toppat Clan enter his mind at the thought.
“S-Stop thinking about that!” another more masculine but not by much voice cries.
?
“T-those guys look really scary…” the voice says.
On cue, Dave attempts to stop thinking about toppats, but unfortunately that’s not how his mind works. Because, when he tries, he starts thinking about them more, especially the one who almost killed him and the situation around that. The scariest moment of Dave’s life.
“STOP! STOP! STOP!” the other voice begs.
A sudden splitting pain hits Dave on his head, and the nightguard cries out in pain. He stops walking, and tries putting his hands on his head in a futile attempt to stop it.
“Listen to Evan.” The female voice says.
Dave tries opening his mouth to apologize, but is still unable to. Fortunately, however, it seems Evan still hears it.
“I f-forgive you,” Evan says.
Dave’s body starts walking again, but this time it isn’t of his own accord. He goes out in broad daylight and wandering around the place. This freaks Dave out, which causes him to fight back. This doesn’t end well, as he soon learns panicking makes things worse… literally, as he looses more control. This doesn’t deter him, however.
“Quit fighting. Your lucky we’ve decided to just possess you instead of killing you. So, unless you would like that to change, I suggest to stop fighting,” the female voice hisses. She pauses for a second and then says, “Ugh, you know what? My name is Cassidy. Not female voice. And the other guy’s Evan, but you already knew that.”
Oh, um… my name’s Dave. Um you’re not serious are you? Oh, you probably are. (If the animatronics are murder happy than you guys are probably too…)
“W-We aren’t murder happy!” Evan cries, “…M-Mostly…”
Dave blinks. He didn’t want to say that last part out loud. Oh, right. They can read his mind, so whatever he thinks intentionally or unintentional they will hear. …There goes my privacy. Along with my freedom to move. The lack of autonomy Dave is feeling reminds him a lot of the Toppat Clan-
“We aren’t those scoundrels!” Cassidy snaps causing Dave to jump in reality, “Now stop thinking about those evil monsters! Evan and I have been stuck in that stupid pizzeria with that stupid yellow bear for almost thirty years now. So, I suggest if you don’t want us to throw you off a cliff, you stay quiet and let us enjoy the outdoors IN PEACE”
…okay… Wait, what?!
“What?”
You’ve been stuck in that place for thirty years?
“Yes, and we would-”
Okay, you can use my body. Dave then stops fighting Cassidy and Evan for control.
“What?”
I kind of relate to that. Being stuck in one place as time passes on without you. Scared and alone… I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, even my worst enemy.
Evan makes noises that signify he’s uncomfortable. Guess he thought about the Toppat Clan again.
Sorry, you got to believe me that I can’t help it.
“…What were you saying before?” Cassidy suddenly says.
Well, I’m giving you permission to use my body. I don’t want anyone to suffer like I did, but um maybe ask next time? You almost scared me to death!
“…”
“C-Cassidy?”
“I’m fine, Evan. Now, Dave. Just think about flowers or some $#%@. I don’t want you to continue to scare Evan.” Cassidy says.
Okay, but can I have my body back around… 7:00 pm please? I need it for my job…
“For night guarding, right?”
Yep!
“…” Cassidy is silent for a few moments before she eventually says, “Sure,”
Thanks!
“…”
After that, Cassidy and Evan continue to explore the park. Dave can feel their happiness, as they gaze in awe at nature around them. Guess she wasn’t lying about their situation beforehand. Dave feels sorry for them. His own experience was rough, but he couldn’t imagine living in that tiny cell for thirty years. Dave honestly doubts he could keep his sanity after five years.
The night guard couldn’t help but feel a little happy himself. He’s helping two ghosts get something that they’ve been robbed of for a long time. Though, Dave wishes they just asked first. A simple conversation could’ve lessen the fear incredible bit. However, despite that terrible first introduction, it all worked out in the end. Plus, just maybe, perhaps, unlike most other things in Dave’s life, this will sort itself out peacefully and happily!
…Right?
