Yue’s POV
It's been 2 years since the defeat of the former Firelord and a new one came to power. Although I wasn't able to make it to see Avatar Aang defeat the Firelord. At least I was able to be involved in one of the biggest invasions that ever happened in history. Not to mention saving Waterbending as well. My name is Yue and I was a princess at one point in my life before I became the new moon Spirit , but this is not about me its about someone else. No not the Avatar either , but it's about someone who made this all happen and her journey to somewhere far into the future will change her life forever. You didn't hear wrong I said future you see a year ago, I had a few visions of some events and I didn't know what they were at the time. Until I got a visit from the Time Spirit and he told me that I can see certain events happening in the future which he calls Future Sight. He said that the original Moon Spirit had that ability too.
Enough about me though now ,I want to check on Team Avatar and see how they're doing. I teleported from the spirit world to the moon to see where Team Avatar is celebrating their 2 year anniversary of the end of the War. It was night time now and that would be the perfect time for me to see them. I looked everywhere from the Fire Nation, Air Nomads, and Water tribes. Until I remembered they would be where they celebrated last year's Anniversary "Ba sing Sei" I told myself as I moved the moon a bit towards the Earth kingdom. Right as I was there they were laughing and having fun. Including my Sokka. I sighed staring wistfully with a smile as I watched him telling stories of their adventures while having his arm around Suki. When I first started being a spirit I was a little sad at first that I couldn't directly interact with anyone except for Katara. The reason I knew of this because the same year I figured out that I have future sight, a few months later I felt lonely and I really wanted someone to talk to.
So I floated down to the south pole hoping to find someone , but everyone was already asleep except for Katara who was practicing water bending moves. So ever since we decided that whenever the moon is full or we had the time I would come and have a chat at night. I keep watching team avatar having fun until I receive a sudden flood of visions, they were quick but I wasn't able to make out all of them. Although the visions seemed important since it had one about the earth , but they were still a little odd. I rubbed my head trying to ease the headache a bit due to the side effects of the visions I just witnessed. The Time Spirit said getting Visions that leave a massive headache are really important. I wasn't sure what he meant by that until the vision with the earth.
"I best go tell him" I thought. Just before I left, I got one last look of Team Avatar having fun thinking that "if it's what I think it is. This celebration might be the last time they'll ever see each other again for a long time." That's when I went back to the moon and back to the spirit world.
Author PoV
The celebration continued on until it was time for everyone to return home except for Toph and Aang since they were still looking for Airbenders that may have survived Firelord Sozin's genocide on the Air nomads. Yes surprising enough instead of the famous waterbender Katara to end up with the Avatar, it was the young Earth bender Toph Beiphong. Who as well invented Metal bending. Well you see after the kiss Katara and Aang had shared on the balcony they realized the feelings that they had for each other were more Platonic then Romantic. (A/N:Zutara shipper here sorry Kataang fans)
Well Katara did anyway although Aang didn't took the rejection well , but then he eventually came around. Although that made the Avatar realize that he had feelings for someone else, which was Toph since she would give him more punches to the arm then usual. (Since it was also her way of showing affection) Aang started to notice and then eventually they got together.
Anyways the first ones to leave the celebration were Katara and her older brother Sokka. They waved everyone goodbye including Suki before they left for their ship to go back to their home at the South Pole. "I'm gonna miss Suki so much" Sokka says while sighing wistfully. "You do know that you both can write each other" Katara said as both the siblings approach and board their ship home.
~~~Time Skip to a few hours~~~
After a few hours of sailing on the sea and it was now night time. Almost everyone turned in for the night except for a few Soldiers and Katara who decided to linger for a little while longer on deck listening to the waves of her element, the sea. Although something was bugging her for a while ever since she left Ba Sing Sei. "Why wasn't Yue around much during the celebration?" She asked herself about Yue's presence. When Katara didn't sense her that much during the party. "I hope she's alright. I don't want another repeat on what happened last time" she thought while gazing at the moon.
"There you are!" Sokka yelled. Causing Katara to snap out of her trance , she turned her head seeing Sokka walking towards her. "I knew you'd still be out here" Sokka told her as he leaned against the railing of the ship.
"Sorry I'll be there, in a minut-" "What's wrong?" Sokka suddenly asked his sister. Katara was shocked at first since he doesn't show concern towards her that often , but it would be best to tell him now or he'd be bugging her about it until they arrive.
"I......honestly I'm a little worried about Yue" she answered , Sokka looked a bit surprised at that since it isn't Aang that she's worried about this time, but then again he has Toph.
"Why?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "I guess because I didn't sense her presence that often at the party. It's silly isn't it?" Katara then asked her brother again once she replied. Sokka then thought about what she said and answered "Honestly it's not. Although honestly Katara ,Yue is probably just busy being the moon spirit" Sokka told her as way of reassuring her.
"I suppose...." "Don't think about it too much Katara. Yue's probably doing....spirit stuff, besides she probably wasn't there much because she's in the spirit world" Sokka told her.
"You're probably right Sokka. Now *Yawn* let's go and get some sleep" She told Sokka as she walked towards to the entrance of the ship's quarters. Sokka followed his sister telling her that the captain of the ship told him that they'll be arriving home in three weeks. Katara nodded as well saying goodnight to her brother and going to bed.
~~Time Skip to Three Weeks Later~~
Katara's PoV
As the ship docked onto the snowy deck of the South Pole. Sokka ran straight out onto the snowy tundra. When the Captain told us that we arrived, I thanked him shortly before following my brother outside. We walked and walked for a couple of hours until our village was to be seen and everyone even Dad as well Gran-gran were standing at the entrance waiting for us.
"DAD!!" me and Sokka shouted while we ran towards him with his arms wide open giving us both a hug to welcome us back. "I'm so glad that my children are home and safe" he said while everyone from the village is cheering of our return. I smiled thinking for a moment on how far I've come when I found Aang in the iceberg that day. Honestly I still can't believe it that the war is over, and all because of how I found him in that iceberg on that day. "Katara come on!" Sokka yelled for me as he and everyone else walked into the village as he's regallin of tale on how we found Aang and stopped Ozai to bring the world into eternal flames.
"Coming!" I yelled while running after them with a smile on my face. I don't want this to end.
~Timeskip to nighttime~

Everyone in the village celebrated on the return of the water tribe siblings as well as celebrating the anniversary of the end of the hundred year war. It was a joyous celebration with water tribe cuisine as well music from the instruments made from animal skins. As well as the children dancing and Sokka telling the stories of his and Katara's adventures with Aang and on how they stopped other enemies besides Ozai. They celebrated so long until night came around and Katara had a feeling it would be a while until everyone goes to sleep.
"*Yawn* Dad I think I'm going to turn in for the night" She told Hakoda who is sitting on an ice block next to her talking to Bato.
"Of course Katara, Goodnight" He turned his head to her as he bid her goodnight. Katara stood up from the ice block she sat on and made her way towards their family igloo.
"I'll let Sokka know that you went on ahead" He told her. Katara nodded and then resume the way towards the igloo. With everyone saying goodnight to her.
When she made it to her family's igloo. Instead of going inside she went around the back to the icy cliffs which is near the place where she had discovered Aang 2 years ago. "Everything's changed...It still seems like yesterday that I found Aang in this area. Then we just started traveling from place to place even though Zuko was chasing us." Katara started to tear up a bit when thinking about the past.
"How does time fly. Come on Katara don't be so down I mean look at what you accomplished you found the AVATAR and ended the 100 hundred war. Not to mention that you're an ambassador of the south pole as well of the four nations. I mean sure it's pretty stressful and then there's also keeping the peace between council members that try to kill each other. Oh who am I kidding it's pretty bad" she told her as she started to cry , but before she could. A bright light appeared it was bright , but after a little bit it took the shape of a woman.
"Yue. You came" Katara said to no one , but Yue heard her. "I have....Rough day?" she asked Katara as Yue studied her face seeing the darklines still present under her eyes , but not as bad when the last time they talked.
"Something like that" Katara answered. Yue floated down towards Katara with her long white hair trailing behind.
"What's wrong Katara?" Yue then asked her. "I-It's just I don't know. I feel stuck, like I can't exactly do anymore here since I did all that over the course of 2 years. Maybe even shortly after Ozai's defeat." Katara explained with a strain on her voice.
"But you're the best healer there ever was Katara. Why do you say that?" Yue asked with concern. Katara crossed arms and held them to her chest.
Katara was a bit afraid of showing her vulnerability since she was the ambassador , but she was also afraid to show it in front of Sokka, Aang or even herself. Since the last time she was vulnerable was when her mom died , but when she took over the "mother role" she stopped being vulnerable ever since. Although the only ones that know about her vulnerable side is Toph as well as Yue.
"Do you see those four large igloos at the back?" Katara then asked Yue while she pointed to where the Igloos reside. Yue floated up and looked to where Katara is pointing. There behind the village are four large igloos and they were almost as big as the buildings as the North Pole's houses or healing schools. Yue floated down and answered "Yes what about them?" she asked again.
"These are the Healing schools where I teach the kids and a few are quite the prodigies" Katara replied with a sad tone. "Oh Katara-" "They'll grow into fine healers...Even without my guidance. Anyways that's enough of my troubles. How I haven't sensed you at all while me and Sokka were celebrating with the Gaang?" Katara asked Yue when she turned her head towards her.
"My apologies Katara , but I had some important business to attend to with the other spirits in the spirit world." Yue answered , but when Katara heard what Yue said she was afraid something bad or even worse is yet to come.
"Is it bad? Will something bad happen to Aang?" She asked Yue with a tinge of fear.
Yue shook her head no " It's not the Avatar who's in danger , but the world thousands and thousands of years into the future" Yue told her. This news shocked Katara I mean how , but since Yue is a spirit now it shouldn't surprise since Katara and her are friends. "H-H-How exactly is the world in danger?" Katara then asked her with a bit hesitance.
Yue then explained to Katara that in thousands of years into the future the world would be in danger by some strange , but still bad people. Luckily the world has heroes to defend it. "I don't see what the problem is" Katara said , but Yue continued. Until she got to the part that the heroes were losing and one of them would be gravely injured by one of their enemies that they fight. After hearing this information Katara felt shocked, confused and sympathetic. That last emotion she feels is probably for them, the heroes in the far future.
"Is there anything I can do?" she asked. "Meet me here at the same spot at the next full moon and bring only the three items with you" Yue answered.
Katara was confused on that until Yue clarified her on what the three items she should bring when they meet next time. Which are her waterbending scrolls, waterskins and a small batch of spirit water. Katara was surprised about the last item , but she didn't question about...Well she did a bit.
"Spirit water? Why?"Katara asked Yue with a feeling that something bad will happen.
"This batch isn't for any of your friends Katara. It'll be for one of the heroes" Yue replied as the light from the moon shined on her gown softly.
"What do you mean Yue?" Katara asked her again.
"Katara I can't answer all of your questions right now , but you'll understand when we meet again at the next the full moon. Until then you must have everything prepared for when we depart for the spirit world. So until then I will explain everything to you when the time is right " Yue said with a serious tone.
Katara didn't know how to answer at first since she wasn't sure if she heard Yue correctly. "W-Wait a minute I'm going to the spirit world? Not Aang?" she asked uncertainly. Yue slowly nodded.
"B...But I can't since I'm an ambassador now and I'm not the Avatar" Katara tells Yue trying to refuse , but tells her something that would shock her to the core.
"I'm afraid even the Avatar won't be much help." Yue said which caused Katara to stand in shock , Yue then continued "In the future the Avatar no longer exists, bending is no longer considered common and I'm afraid even spirits are considered myths now. Katara listen to me I know you're thinking on why should we even be helping , but the heroes they have in the future they're like us. People who are trying to help and protect the innocent even if they look different. Listen even though bending in the future isn't common anymore there are still benders out there hiding in plain sight and there some hidden colonies for benders too." Yue finished trying to give Katara some reassurance.
Katara thought about what Yue said and at first she was angry about the Benders were forced into hiding , but then she remembered on how she and the Gaang met a lot of bender and non-benders who had to hide themselves in different ways to not be subjugated to horrible things that the Fire Nation would do. Not to mention she herself was a refugee at some point even though it was only so they could lay low for a bit until Aang could fully recover from his injuries. So she knows how it feels to hide from people who could hurt you if you're not careful enough. Although she did helped Haru and his dad escape the Fire nation prison she still feels responsible for having Haru being taken in the first place.
"I understand Yue , but why are you telling me this?" Katara replies after a long pause of silence. "To let you know what you're getting yourself into" Yue said. Katara wanted to ask more , but she heard Sokka's call for her.
"I'm sorry but that's all I can say for now and Katara? Don't say a word to anyone about this ok?" Yue asked almost begged her not to tell anyone not even her family of what her and Yue had just talked about.
"I promise Yue I won't tell a soul." Katara said just before Yue faded telling to be ready. Katara nodded and then walked back towards the direction where Sokka is at.
When she arrived to the outskirts she was greeted by her very worried big brother hugging her "There you are I was so worried. I was almost gonna get dad and have a search party out for you" Sokka said as his grip tighten around his sister.
"I'm sorry Sokka I was out practicing my bending" Katara said while pushing away breaking away from Sokka's grip. "I should've known" Sokka then sighed and then continued "You always go and practice at night when somethings bothering you or you're stressed. Nowadays I mean, what's wrong?" he asked
"It's nothing" Katara sighed and started walking back towards their igloo, but Sokka knows it's about her work or he thinks it's that. What he doesn't know Katara is thinking about what Yue said to her about how everything will be explained at the next full moon and that has Katara thinking that maybe she'll be the one to save the world or at least be a big help like she did when their adventures with Aang first started.
~~~Meanwhile in the Spirit world!!~~~
"Are you sure that she's the right candidate for this type of mission Yue?" someone asked who's voice sounded old and wise as time. "I'm certain , but it would be best if I explained everything to her once she arrives Time Spirit" Yue said with a hint of worry.
"Very well it would be wise to be filling her in on what she's getting herself into first , before she accepts it. Still though are you sure that the Water Bender Katara is the best choice?" Time Spirit asked her with a bit uncertainty himself.
"She has been through a lot , but she's the most compassionate person I know Time spirit ,and maybe with her on their side she could possibly alter some of the terrible events that are yet to come" Yue said with a hopeful tone.
"I'm not so sure about that since these events might've already happened." Time spirit said with a grim tone. "Nothing is set in stone Time Spirit until it already has happened , and I know these events haven't happened yet since I have future sight" Yue answered giving the Time Spirit some hope.
"My apologies Yue I have completely forgotten about that wonderful gift you have , but let's just hope that candidate of yours is just as promising as you say" Time spirit said before faded away to his home realm 'The Realm of Time'.
Yue was alone now in the spirit world , but she didn't wanted to go back to the moon just yet , she still needed to think about the visions she saw. One of them being four humanoid turtles fighting a man in steed clad armor. Another vision she remembered was one of the turtles being gravely injured thrown into a building. Another being the earth destroyed by having it being sucked in by a hole and the last vision was the most horrific which was a bi-pedal human looking rat getting stabbed by a terrifying version of the steel clad armor man she saw in one of her earlier visions.
"I still don't know what those visions mean , but they're still bad especially if that means those turtles. Which I believe are the heroes are in grave danger." Yue thought when she remembered the visions. "Oh Katara please make sure that they'll accomplish their mission and stop this man who is clad in steel armor. I know you can do it" Yue said to herself just before fading back to the moon waiting for the time when it was for her and Katara to prepare for the long journey ahead.
