Work Text:
A quiet rap of metal on wood breaks Ramattra from his meditation. Blissful nothingness, as he often spends his nights when there is little else to do and no need to recharge, and his internal chronometer tells him he's spent just under three hours in this state. It must be just past one.
Certainly late enough to avoid detection.
"Come in," he calls softly, knowing who awaits him on the other side. Who else could it be at this hour?
Zenyatta steps inside quickly, his plethora of orbs trailing him like ducklings. Just as it always does, it brings a joy to Ramattra's features, a brightness to his array. "My apologies for my tardiness," Zenyatta murmurs, low and quiet, just in case. "Mondatta kept me in conversation for much longer than anticipated."
"There is no schedule here," Ramattra chides, though his fond tone gives him away. "You know that."
"And yet, I still prefer to spend as many hours as I can in your presence before the rising of the sun pulls us apart."
A hum is all Ramattra gives in reply. Instead, he pulls himself out of his lazy half-lotus to lie back in the cushions of his slightly-less-makeshift-than-usual 'bed.' After learning of Zenyatta's particular preference for soft things, he's done his best to accommodate (though the act was not entirely selfless– he, too, enjoys such things when he allows them for himself).
The shift in position is all Zenyatta needs to settle his orbs on Ramattra's desk and sink down into his embrace. It's quickly becoming his new favourite place to be –despite how new their relationship is– enveloping the smaller omnic with his large frame and loose, comfortable robes. Idly, he makes a note to share his scarf with him at some point. His neck wires, exposed as they are, must be protected from the biting winds of the rapidly approaching winter…
After a moment to allow him to settle, Ramattra speaks up, "What did you want to do tonight?" His optics scan his little room. "I've got plenty of new books to read: poetry, history, even a fantasy gifted to me from a traveller. Isn't that novel?" He can't help the quiet chuckle at his own poor joke.
(Thankfully, Zenyatta laughs along with him.)
He quiets down quickly, however, and takes to tracing the planes of Ramattra's armoured 'rib cage' through his robes. "Actually…" he hesitates. Zenyatta rarely hesitates.
"Is… something the matter?"
"No! No, no, I–" Ah! The rare fluster is incredibly cute, now that he doesn't sound distressed. "–Would like if, perhaps, we could spend our night simply… lying together? I have not recharged in some time."
Oh. Of course not, he's spent the last few nights enjoying hidden dates with Ramattra. Guilt flashes through him, only to be set quickly into the blank nothingness section of his processor. No need for that.
"Of course," he says, drawing his arms around Zenyatta's slim waist. "Just spending time in your presence is more than I could ask for. Hand me your cable, let me assist you."
Zenyatta practically melts into Ramattra's hold, but does manage to snake his power cable out to pass to Ramattra. In no time at all (and minimal jostling), he has him connected to the monastery's power grid.
"Thank you," Zenyatta murmurs, relief flooding his synth. "May I… stay here?"
Tucked into Ramattra's chest, looking up at him with such reverence that Ramattra fears he may offline at the sight? "Please," he says, letting his fingers wind into the cables at Zenyatta's neck.
Zenyatta says nothing further as his systems shut down, settling into recharge, but Ramattra's content. He has no need to recharge himself, not really, with his power banks being much larger than a civilian omnic's and all, but he finds that he doesn't mind the quiet, comfortable contact.
There will be plenty of other hidden nights to spend reading books by candlelight. For now, he's content to rest.
