Work Text:
Naofumi placed a few books followed by a dozen papers down on a wooden desk. Motoyasu sat at that very desk, going over the most recent book Naofumi had written. Naofumi crossed his arms, a rather irritated look on his face.
“Something the matter, boss?” Motoyasu, Naofumi’s assistant, spoke… The blond’s voice was surprisingly concerned. Naofumi kept his eyes darted away, and the lighting of the candle made his complexion all the more serious… And imitating.
“Yes. Very much so,” Naofumi began. “The public! Always the public!” Naofumi began. He was quick to kick himself off the desk, beginning the start of a rant mixed with quick pacing. “We’re so close to coming out with possibly the greatest book on the shelves! I understand it’s been a while since I’ve written, but they just keep pushing and pushing! I stayed up for nights to write all of this- I just- I hate it so much,” Naofumi ranted, his speed picking up the more he complained, and the more he worried.
Motoyasu turned his body, hand resting on the arm rest. “I’m merely done checking it over, Naofumi… I’m sure we can have out a few copies next week,” Motoyasu hummed.
“The press and my counsellor will demand to go through it- and you know how they are. I might have millions of my books taken off the shelves by people- but the company just doesn’t want to go over them- read them- or do anything with them! My books simply collect dust while they take in books written by shitty ass authors who put no emotion into what they write,” Naofumi huffed.
“Naofumi… You really shouldn’t be so hard on yourself. I know that you stress about it every night, and it’s easy to see how much all of the demands have impacted you, but you deserve the break. And Don’t worry about your dumb counsellor. He’s lazy as all do hell. Blame it on him,” Motoyasu said. The blond stood from where he sat, getting closer to Naofumi. He gently rubbed his shoulder, moving down his arm slowly. The raven let out an irritated sigh, but rested his head against the blond’s shoulder- as if to tell him he’d calm.
“You’re a great writer; and I’m sure people will be less demanding once you publish it,” Motoyasu assured. He placed a hand on Naofumi’s head, gently moving his hand through Naofumi’s soft locks. Motoyasu took a hand off Naofumi’s shoulder, reaching into the raven’s pocket. Naofumi was quick to be alerted.
His head popped up, “What are you doing-?”
“Taking your phone,” Motoyasu blatantly stated. “Just let me take it, and ignore it. I know this is where the stress is coming from. I hear it go off y’know,” Motoyasu stated, gently tossing the phone to the table behind them. Naofumi stepped closer, wrapping his arms around Motoyasu’s waist.
“Wow, really know your way to a man’s heart,” Naofumi teased. He gently shook his head, but fastened his grip around his assistant. “I hate it when you’re right, you know,” Naofumi mumbled. But, Motoyasu knew he was thankful. A moment of silence had filled the air, Motoyasu mere concerned with how much it all had impacted the raven.
“So… How is it looking so far?” Naofumi asked- trying to change from the bad mood… A classical workaholic move.
“Not bad, very interesting compared to your stereotypical romance plot from last time,” Mootyasu snickered, getting a side eye in return.
“You’re an ass.”
“Very aware, Nao.”
Naofumi moved past him, leaning against the table once more, but he kept their fingers lightly skimmed over one another. He gestured his head to the side, insinuating for Motoyasu to come closer. So, the blond followed. He stood in front of Naofumi, letting the raven run his hands along Motoyasu’s hand. Quicker beats were present in the blond’s heart, and his hand tingled at the warm and gentle touch.
“I was thinking we should go to a cafe tomorrow- finish it up and start prepping for the shelves. Who cares about the press…The media… The damn company I joined… they will just- release it to the public when needed, and neither of us are to blame. I’ll… I’ll talk to my counsellor to figure it out,” Naofumi hummed.
“Better choice,” Motoyasu agreed. “Besides, I think you need to get out of here. You’re like a hermit,” Motoyasu teased. Naofumi gave him another glare- but it was quickly turned to a small smile- unable to act upon his strict persona.
Naofumi pulled him closer, fastening his grip around his assistant’s sides. Motoyasu was used to the sense of overly passionate affection from Naofumi- but the way he stared him up and down… Made his heart skip.
Unlike the so-called ‘passionate public’ believed; they had not been dating, despite Motoyasu’s having a dream of just that. Naofumi, a cold writer who had eyes enough to pierce through the soul, was the most affectionate person Motoyasu had ever met… But somehow neither of them asked out the other. Naofumi cleared his throat, leading all thoughts to the real thing.
“You know, Motoyasu,” Naofumi began. Motoyasu could see the hints of red that overcame his face; as if he wanted to say something embarrassing. “I don’t say it enough- but I really do appreciate you. You’re always here for me- and never seem bothered by me. I come in here looking like I’m ready to kill someone, and just… Being with you, it always makes me feel better,” Naofumi hummed, voice quieter as he went on.
Motoyasu let a small grin come across his face. “Hm…” Motoyasu hummed, and got closer to his face. “That’s because I totally just want you for your money and fame,” He teased. “I’m not bothered by you, at all. I enjoy being with you, and I want you to be happy, so,” Motoyasu hummed, saying it like he’d been studying his words for so long.
Naofumi grinned. “Well, I’m glad. I feel like I just come here to annoy you,” Naofumi chucked- more bittersweet than anything. Naofumi moved a hand down Motoyasu’s waist, moving it to his upper thigh. “Well, I’m glad I don’t bother you… I can get a little bossy when it comes to work,” Naofumi continued on.
“Naofumi, please. Don’t worry about any of that. You need to be bossy when it comes down to it- I get side tracked all the time,” Motoyasu snickered. He leaned in even closer… and he watched Naofumi’s eyes widened a bit- his grin lightly growing. Motoyasu directed his gaze lower, staring at his lips. Although chapped from all of his stress-picking, they still looked nice to kiss.
Naofumi cleared his throat, looking down. “So, you done for the night…? You’ve worked a lot today- and Um- it’s getting a little late.”
Motoyasu frowned, and put a hand under his chin… Directing his gaze to lock eyes with him. Motoyasu saw the red of his cheeks and the curl of his bottom lip- seemingly anxious. “Naofumi… I see what you’re doing.”
“What am I doing? Hm…?” Naofumi huffed, backing up- leaning more, hands supporting him from falling back. “I just told you that you didn’t need to work more…”
“Can I kiss you?”
Silence filled the air for a moment, and Naofumi’s arms seemed to begin to grow unstable to hold his weight.
“No- I mean…Maybe? No-yes… Yes-”
Motoyasu leaned in closer, their mouths close enough to feel each other's breath. Motoyasu felt himself hesitate- knowing he was given permission to kiss this beautiful man he’d loved for so long… It felt weird to think of. Well, also the fact that he’d be kissing his boss. Through his moments of hesitation, he could feel one of Naofumi’s hands meet his neck and push him closer, making their lips finally meet.
His breath tasted like coffee; probably from how often he insisted on caffeine. Motoyasu’s eyes slightly opened for a moment, Naofumi kicking himself off the desk and finally less anxious about the situation. He kissed with more passion, like this is something he always had wanted. Motoyasu felt one of Naofumi’s hands feeling his thigh, moving inward.
Motoyasu moved a hand up to Naofumi’s neck, moving it down slowly to his chest… Which Naofumi didn’t seem to mind. Naofumi ran his tongue over Motoyasu’s bottom lip, but backed up before Motoyasu could take it further. Naofumi still kept his face close, eyes never looking away from Motoyasu.
Unlike how the blond thought; Naofumi seemed filled with confidence, and once again he seemed like his real boss. Motoyasu looked away, intimidated by his gaze… But also loved how overpowering he’d become. There was something quite hot about it.
“Sorry, I wasn't letting you take the lead the whole time,” Naofumi snickered. He began to place small kisses along his jawline, hand moving to his ponytail, letting Motoyasu’s hair loose.
“Yeah-Yeah. I-I can tell,” Motoyasu mumbled, accidentally stammering. His eyes still kept off to the side- flustered by how the whole situation flipped. Naofumi leaned his head on Motoyasu’s shoulder once more, kissing his neck now.
“Going to ask me to be your boyfriend~?” Naofumi asked, the words rolling off his tongue in a seductive manner.
Motoyasu blinked a few times, gaze slowly moving back to him. “Okay then…” Motoyasu moved a hand along Naofumi’s arm, slowly moving his hand over Naofumi’s gentle palm. They intertwined fingers, Naofumi letting out a small chuckle. “Will you be my boyfriend?”
“Sorry, no. I don’t like you,” Naofumi joked, still planting kisses on the blond’s neck.
“Still a sarcastic asshole I see,” Motoyasu huffed- of course only getting playful with Naofumi. He didn’t mind- at all. Their weird love language was simple playfulness; and Naofumi always spoke so sharply and moved his body in such a mature manner when so… Motoyasu never had minded it, and praised him for it.
“Hm. I am an ass. You love that about me, which is why I do it,” Naofumi teased. The raven finally lifted his head to meet a gaze with Motoyasu. The blond attempted to look away, flustered by his looked once more, but Naofumi grasped his head in his hands… And Motoyasu was practically forced to look at him.
“So, feel like sleeping in my bed tonight? Instead of going all the way home~? I mean, up to you. I just know that you’ve liked me for so long… So I can’t see the problem,” Naofumi smirked. Motoyasu’s eyes only widened more- and his face became hotter.
“And you never bothered to say anything…?” Motoyasu pouted.
“I didn’t want to. Besides, you were the one with the crush,” Naofumi hummed. “Now what do you say, love?” They both let out a small chuckle from the pet name- both having different reasoning.
Motoyasu gently nodded, placing a small kiss on Naofumi’s head, hugging him closer. Naofumi spun in their hug, and walked to the door, keeping a firm grasp on Motoyasu’s hand.
“Ya, we’re most certainly going to finish your work in the morning… For now, you’re all mine,” Naofumi teased, opening the door for the both of them, practically pulling Motoyasu along… His eyes seemed to look around, but he complied with what Naofumi said.
They were quick to reach the raven’s room, and Naofumi lightly pushed him to the bed, putting a leg up on the bed beside Motoyasu and leaning into the blond to kiss him once more.
Naofumi whispered to Motoyasu, “Glad to know you’re finally mine.”
