Chapter Text
It was a typical Friday night. SUNNY and MARI were binge watching horror movies as they had been doing every Friday night for the past two years.
As the movie progressed. Slowly but surely MARI and SUNNY had began to realise how shit the movie was. The acting was horrible, the jump-scares weren't even jump-scares and all the genuinely likeable characters kept dying off.
MARI eventually get fed up with dealing with it all and went to turn off the show, she moved her hand around the couch, seemingly searching for the remote to change the movie.
After about 6 seconds, MARI realised that the remote was not next to her, but on the armrest of the couch next to SUNNY.
"Hey SUNNY..." MARI called out to her little brother. "Can you hand me the remote next to you so I could change the movie?" She asked, only to be responded by silence, SUNNY was not at all paying her attention.
SUNNY could properly hear MARI, loud and clear. it's just that he CHOSE to ignore her, and MARI caught on immediately.
"SUNNY...I know you can hear me. Can you please pass me the remote?" she pleaded with the 12 year old.
"Hmm..." SUNNY hummed as he placed his index finger and thumb on his chin, pretending to think about it. "Nah, I'm good." He decided.
MARI stared at him for a second, her left eye twitched before she spoke again, this time with a louder voice. "SUNNY! For the love of God can you hand me the remote! You are LITERALLY right next to it!" She practically yelled at him, but SUNNY didn't really seem to care, not even looking at her.
"But don't you want the remote? Why should I get it for YOU when you could just get up and get it yourself. Don't be lazy sister dearest."
Sunny snapped back.
At this point, MARI was officially angry. "SUNNY are you serious? You are RIGHT next to it! just reach over and grab the remote! it's not that damn hard!" She hissed at him, making the 12 year old roll his eyes.
Finally, SUNNY began to reach out for the remote, purposely pushing it off the couch armrest instead of picking it up. Luckily, the remote hit the soft carpet, leaving it unharmed.
"Oh noooo, would you look at that. It seems that i've dropped the remoteee. what every shall I do. You know, this would have never happened if you had just gotten up and grabbed the remote yourself." He shrugged
"I hate you...SO much SUNNY....I hope you know that." She states as she finally gets up from off the couch and picks up the fallen tv remote, pausing the sorry excuse of a horror movie.
"Maybe, if you hadn't eaten the steak mom left for ME then I would've gotten the remote, but here we are." SUNNY confessed.
"I didn't know it was for you! and I already said I was going to buy you a whole steak dinner the next time we go out to make up for it! Jesus SUNNY..." Mari shook her head before sitting back down on the couch.
She changed the movie, this time to a horror film that was actual worth watching and wasn't a waste of time.
And despite their argument that took place just a minute ago, the two of them still watched the film together, occasionally snickering and giggling about the somewhat funny scenes that would show up once in a while.
In the end, SUNNY had fallen asleep at the near end of the movie, how on earth did he fall asleep to a horror movie with constant screaming and loud noises, who knows.
MARI yawned tiredly as she picked up the remote, pressing the power button and shutting off the tv.
She turned to her little brother's sleeping form, he had fallen asleep with this head laying on the armrest, his right hand cushioning his face.
MARI shook her little brother lightly. "SUNNYYYY...Get up...we have to....We have to go to bed..." she said in between a yawn.
Unfortunately, her attempts were futile as SUNNY only made a small sound of discontent before continuing his soundless sleep.
"Ugh..." MARI groaned. She knew that she had better chances of waking up a dead person than she did with waking up SUNNY while he was in this state of sleep.
"Okay then...Looks like I'll have to do this the hard way." She stated as she scooped her brother up into her ams, Sunny was extremely light for a 12 year old, so much so that it was slightly concerning. Even BASIL could lift him if he really tried. Luckily SUNNY was already examined and the doctors found no sort of health issue with SUNNY.
With that, MARI carried her brother to the stairs, using the power of carefulness, patience, and sheer fucking will to carry her little brother up the stairs. After that dreadful experience, MARI carried him to their room and placed him gently on the bed before tucking him in.
"There we go." MARI sighed in relief and dusted off the invisible dirt off her hand. She turned away to get to her own bed before feeling a hand grab her finger, seemingly attempting to pull her back.
MARI turned her head around only to see that SUNNY had taken MARI's index finger for hostage.
"Don't...leave..." He mumbled in his sleep. His sister's eyes widened. A pleasant wave of nostalgia over came her. memories of when they were younger children washed in like a wave and flooded her head.
SUNNY had a habit of grabbing MARI's finger when he was only 2. The two of them also slept in the same bed until MARI had turned 10, SUNNY frequently had nightmares between the ages of 5 and 7, he'd always hug her tighter those nights. The fond memories made a smile form on MARI's face. the ruffled her little brother's hair and pondered a bit, wondering whether or not she should actually get in bed with him.
MARI made her decision as she began to scoot SUNNY over before climbing into the bed herself.
It was quite suffocating, to say the least. she hasn't slept with SUNNY in five years, and because it was also a single bed, you can only imagine how it felt.
MARI though, she didn't necessarily seem to care.
SUNNY wrapped his arms around his older sister, hugging her like he would with a stuff toy.
With a smile, MARI returned the hug, bringing her little brother closer to her and finally closing her eyes as she drifted into a peaceful slumber.
