Chapter Text
A.D. 2730: Sol system fully colonized by Humanity. Humanity as a whole begins to turn its eyes further out, beyond the Oort cloud.
A.D. 3200: The first Stargates are perfected by humanity. Even if the technology behind them is not fully understood, it still provides a rapid way to move between stars without having to rely on long-term stasis.
A.D. 4224: The first warp-drive equipped ship is launched. Ships no longer have to rely on sub-light travel in order to rapidly move around systems.
A.D. 7703: A massive wormhole opens up near the Sol system. Preliminary probing reveals a large galaxy on the other side, completely untouched by human hands. This galaxy is dubbed "New Eden." Construction of a stabilizing structure known as the EVE Gate begins.
A.D. 7987: EVE Gate construction completed. Travel through the wormhole is declared safe for public use. Colonization efforts are launched to New Eden.
A.D. 8063: EVE Gate wormhole begins showing signs of destabilization. However, measurements show that it falls within acceptable limits; and thus operation of the Gate continues.
A.D. 8071: EVE Gate collapses in what will come to be known as one of the worst disasters in Human history, leaving billions of settlers stranded in New Eden. The ensuing chaos and confusion causes near-total societal collapse in the galaxy, causing much of mankind's technology to be lost to the settlers. This begins the period known as the Dark Ages. Many settlements do not survive the following years.
A.D. 10634: A number of settlements located in the Curse region of New Eden discover relics of a bygone era on their planet. These relics are in fact lost technology from before the EVE Gate collapse. With this lost technology in hand, these settlements rapidly grow, develop, and spread across the galaxy. These settlers will soon become known as the Jove.
A.D. 10799: Multiple Jovian clades resolve into a single nation, soon becoming known as the First Jovian empire. Jovian society undergoes a golden age. Most notable is its heavy investment into genetic engineering of humans.
A.D. 11033: A second civilization discovers lost human artifacts and begins its spread, branding itself the Triglavian Collective. It does not take long for them to come into contact with the Jovian Empire. Limited communication is made, but overall the two keep to themselves.
A.D. 16740: On the planet Athra, the warlord Amash-Akura founds a theocratic island nation known as the Amarr Empire.
A.D. 16220: Jovians begin to show signs of a strange mental disorder, showing altered brain chemistry that leads to a minor depressive episode. Investigation into the disorder reveals it to be a genetic disease likely caused by millenia of genetic engineering and experimentation. Due to its small scale and lack of lethality, research towards a cure is minimal.
A.D. 17095: The Jovian empire collapses and fractures back into its disparate clades. Local warlords begin declaring themselves the new Emperor, leading to a galaxy-wide civil war. The Triglavians, wishing not to get involved in the war, retreat into the most unstable and dangerous regions of space, where none would dare venture lest they tear their ships apart.
A.D. 18622: The tribes of the planet Matar in the Pator system make first contact with each other.
A.D. 20014: After nearly 3000 years of war, Miko Bour gains control over a large number of the warring clades, and invites the remaining clades not allied with him to join up with what will soon become known as the Second Jovian Empire.
A.D. 20022: On Athra, the arrival of the Udorians on the shores of the Amarr empire triggers the start of a religious conquest against the Udorians, one that would then evolve into a conquest of all nations across the planet's surface, making slaves of many who oppose them.
A.D. 20374: The tribes of Matar make the decision to unite as a single loose nation, identifying themselves as the Minmatar.
A.D. 20544: Amarr Empire conquers the last free nation on Athra, establishing complete control over the planet. As there are no more to spread their faith to on the surface, the Empire turns its gaze towards the stars. The Amarr space program begins.
A.D. 20719: On the harsh, icy planet Luminaire VII, the Raata empire, formed by the Raata-Oryoni and Fuukiuye empires, successfully unites the continent of Tikonia under its rule.
A.D. 20952: The mental disorder found millenia earlier is discovered to have increased in intensity. The depressive episode is now endless, and quickly proves itself to be invariably fatal. This disorder is given the name "Jovian disease," and rapid research into a cure is begun.
A.D. 20998: The Raata empire fractures and falls into a warring-states period.
A.D. 21134: The Amarr Empire discover the remnants of an ancient Human stargate. Efforts into reverse-engineering the gate begin.
A.D. 21236: The Gallente, a democratic nation born from French settlers who established themselves on the planet Luminaire VI, successfully establishes control over the planet.
A.D. 21237: The first Amarr stargate is completed. An expeditionary fleet is dispatched to the neighboring Hedion system in order to construct a second gate. Athra is renamed Amarr Prime.
A.D. 21290: The Amarr expeditionary fleet reaches Hedion. The second gate is constructed within the year.
A.D. 21413: The Minmatar launch their first spacecraft.
A.D. 21989: The Second Jovian Empire collapses, in no small part due to the now-pandemic Jovian disease. The surviving clades survive via cloning, and are scattered across New Eden.
A.D. 22355: The Amarr make first contact with the burgeoning Minmatar, and almost-instantly begin conducting slave raids on Minmatar worlds.
A.D. 22463: Gallente observatories discover the civilizations of Luminaire VII just entering their own industrial age on Luminaire VII. The Gallente launch multiple probes, eager to communicate and share technology.
A.D. 22467: The last surviving clades of the Jovian empire reestablish contact and reunite under the banner of the Jovian Directorate. Formerly opposed factions are now working alongside one another to ensure their race's collective survival. One group of Jovians makes the decision to break off from the Directorate, board hibernation ships, and venture into deep space. This faction becomes known as the Sleepers.
A.D. 22480: The Amarr conquer the Minmatar and enslave its people.
A.D. 22517: Successful First Contact is established between the people of Luminaire VII and the Gallente. The Luminaire VII nations are then rebranded as the Caldari, and their planet as Caldari Prime.
A.D. 22821: The Sotiyo-Urbaata warp drive is developed.
A.D. 23058: The Amarr develop and successfully test the first jump drive. The advent of this technology allows large ships to move from system to system without the need for a stargate to be constructed first.
A.D. 23121: The Federated Union of Gallente Prime, more commonly referred to as the Gallente Federation, is born.
A.D. 23155: Rising tensions between the Caldari and the Gallente, due to growing dissatisfaction from the Caldari under Gallente rule, as well as unauthorized colonization on the behalf of the Caldari, erupt into war. The Caldari proceed to secede from the Federation and declare themselves the Caldari State.
A.D. 23156: The Caldari are forced off of Caldari Prime.
A.D. 23180: The Gallente make first contact with the Amarrian Empire. Despite their similar levels of technology and size, as well as their glaring ideological differences, both agree to sign a number of treaties so as to avoid conflict. Soon after, the Amarr make first contact with the Jove.
A.D. 23221: The Jovian Directorate gifts the Caldarian Ishukone Corporation with the designs and blueprints to a unique man-machine interface, referred to as a hydrostatic capsule, or simply a Capsule. The difficulty in using the Capsule results in the deaths of many pilots, causing the capsule to gain a reputation as a flying, liquid-filled coffin; however, tales of daring pilots using the capsule's technology to perform otherwise impossible maneuvers disseminate throughout the galaxy.
A.D. 23216: The Amarr, believing the Jove to be an easy conquest, launch a single two-hundred-ship squadron to attack on the Jovian system Vak'Atioth, believing that the battle will be a one-sided affair. While true, it is not in favor of the Amarr fleet, as the Jovian ships rapidly and completely annihilate the squadron. Soon after, the Minmatar rebel. Ultimately, the Minmatar are forced to flee, and soon establish their own nation that would become known as the Minmatar Republic.
A.D. 23222: A peacekeeping organization named CONCORD is established in order to maintain relations between the five major nations of New Eden.
A.D. 23236/Y.C. 0: Universal Time is established. The Galaxy of New Eden moves to the Yoiul Conference timekeeping system.
Y.C. 12: After centuries of war and an infamously bloody engagement at Iyen-Oursta, CONCORD steps into the Gallente-Caldari war and within six months manages to negotiate a peace treaty between the two sides.
Y.C. 104: The Transneural Burn Scanner is perfected by Caldari researchers. Marrying the scanner with Cloning technology and a hydrostatic capsule renders a pilot using the system effectively immortal. Transneural Burn Scanner evolves into the Transneural Echo Burn Scanner.
Y.C. 105: CONCORD declares that a TEBS unit be a part of all capsule-controlled ships, as well as that any capsule-using pilots be given a full cloning contract. Thousands of new pilots make the transition, and thus is born the Capsuleer, a ship pilot unlike any other that is functionally immortal. Their appearance in New Eden will shape the galaxy for years to come. The Empyrean Age begins.
Y.C. 108: The Capsuleer corporate alliance known as the Red Alliance, at the time having control over hundreds of star systems in New Eden, is engaged by another corporate alliance known as the Coalition of the South. The Red Alliance is ultimately pushed back, and their grip on New Eden is lost.
Y.C. 110: Rising tensions reignite conflict between the four empires.
Y.C. 111: Sleeper vessels begin to drift into New Eden. The Goonswarm Federation defeats and ultimately forces the disbandment of the Delve region alliance "Band of Brothers."
Y.C. 115: Further developments of the TEBS allows it to be miniaturized into an implant. This results in the creation of the Clone Trooper and Valkyrie, who are, similarly to the Capsuleer, effectively immortal. The TEBS implant quickly becomes standard for everyone who uses clone bodies.
Y.C. 117: A large number of Capsuleer alliances band together under the banner of the Moneybadger Coalition in an attempt to break the Cluster Fuck Coalition's hold on New Eden. Thcs would later be referred to as "World War Bee," due to the choice of mascot of the Goonswarm Federation, the leading corporation of the CFC. The war would ultimately see the CFC's defeat, with the members being forced to retreat into the Delve region.
Y.C. 121: The Triglavian Collective reaches out for the first time in thousands of years and makes contact with the major powers of New Eden. The Triglavians warn of an oncoming threat and offer trials to test one's skills. Later in the year, this threat, the Drifters, a splinter group of the Sleepers, mounts an invasion on the more-populated areas of New Eden. The Triglavians respond with an invasion of their own. Surprisingly, many capsuleers side with the Triglavians, which ultimately results in several systems being entirely cut off from the wider galaxy.
Y.C. 123: A second conflict ignites between the Imperium (formerly the CFC) and the other alliances of New Eden under the banner of PAPI. PAPI's goal is to ultimately drive the Imperium out of their stronghold in the Delve region. This would ultimately prove unsuccessful, with the alliance making a withdrawal from Delve. One of the major members of PAPI, known as Test Alliance Please Ignore, would ultimately lose all of their controlled systems.
Y.C. 125: The EVE Gate Wormhole mysteriously stabilizes and reopens. Having foreseen the potential conflict, the Sisters of EVE, backed by CONCORD, promptly threaten destruction of all stargates leading into the Genesis region if conflict breaks out over the reopened Gate. The four major Empires, as well as the various capsuleer alliances and corporations begrudgingly agree. CONCORD declares the Genesis region as neutral high-security space in order to enforce this. With the safety of the Gate assured, the Sisters begin reconstruction of the EVE Gate.
Y.C. 127: Reconstruction of the EVE Gate is completed, far faster than its original construction thanks to the new technologies available to humanity. After pressure from within the organization, the Sisters of EVE allow public traffic through the Gate. Following debate by scholars, the eight-planet system on the other side of the Gate is ultimately named "New Earth," after the theoretical origin of humanity proposed by the Common Origin Theory. New Earth III is discovered to be a paradise world, and thousands flock to the system to be the first to settle in this system.
Y.C. 128: The four empires and the Capsuleers begin branching out from New Earth. The surrounding region is thus referred to as the Exodus region. Midway through the year, evidence of an alien civilization is uncovered on New Earth IV. Decoded archives from the ruins reveal the existence of a stargate-like structure encased within a nearby dwarf planet. This leads to discoveries of the lost Prothean civilization as well as the existence of an unknown element referred to as "element zero" by left-behind data. Overall; however, the Prothean technology is considered of little real value beyond being a novelty. Element zero, on the other hand, quickly becomes an expensive and much-desired commodity, finding use in a multitude of different technologies.
Y.C. 130: Now. A group of alien pirates on the run stumble into capsuleer-controlled space…
This is effectively a full rewrite of an older crossover of mine ('twas on FFN, you're not gonna find it here) . Long story short, it wasn't very good, and I aim to change that.
Now, as for the story itself - one thing that I will tell you is that there isn't going to be some major war - CONCORD would hate that. That said, as the description implies, New Eden and the Capsuleers are going to be a gigantic thorn-in-the-side for the Citadel just by virtue of existing.
