Craig and Tweek take a drive to Mcdonald's

Summary:

"...Tweek quickly tugged at his hair with his free hand, letting out a small yell(that was unfortunately a normal sound for him). Craig noticed this as he was walking to his car, keys swinging in one hand and Tweek’s hand comfortably held in his other. He squeezed the other’s hand in a reassuring matter, feeling the other’s tension fade ever so slightly. Craig offered Tweek a small smile as they reached the car, unlocking it and getting into the driver's seat, patiently waiting for Tweek to enter before starting the car up."

Work Text:

A quick drive. Nothing too drastic. All he had to do was get into the car, then sit and wait as Craig drove. That was all there was, it was simple and would have no lasting effect on Tweeks life. Unless… they got into a crash. Unless Craig lost control of the wheel, spinning them into another car. Or spinning them off the road and into the lake where they most certainly will drown. Maybe instead of the ocean, they’d drive directly off a cliff and plummet to their death. Each thought made the blonde more squeamish, his head jerking unnaturally as his palms began to sweat. Tweek quickly tugged at his hair with his free hand, letting out a small yell(that was unfortunately a normal sound for him). Craig noticed this as he was walking to his car, keys swinging in one hand and Tweek’s hand comfortably held in his other. He squeezed the other’s hand in a reassuring matter, feeling the other’s tension fade ever so slightly. Craig offered Tweek a small smile as they reached the car, unlocking it and getting into the driver's seat, patiently waiting for Tweek to enter before starting the car up.

“Ghh… shit,” Tweek’s voice was laced with annoyance. The problem would be his trembling hands being unable to properly fit the seat belt into the holder. Craig sighed, hearing a frustrated grumble from his partner. He reached over and gently snapped the seatbelt into place. That got him an appreciative smile from Tweek, which he returned in the form of a gentle stare. Craig buckled himself up before turning the key, hearing the engine spark to life. Tweek flinched at the sudden vibrations from the car, but composed himself accordingly. With a twitch from his left eye, Tweek turned to look at Craig, speaking in his normal scratchy voice which was overused from screaming all the time. “Where are we? Going again?” There was an unnatural pause in the middle of his sentence, normally where a small sound would burst out irrationally.
Craig didn’t mind explaining again. “It’s March. So I’m taking you to get something special.” He noticed the way Tweek sank in his seat as Craig spoke. He was well aware of how his mere presence was enough to relax the blonde sometimes. It gave him a bout of confidence each time, confident in his ability to sway the others emotions positively like that. Craig shifted the car into reverse, rolling carefully from the parking spot and turning ever so slightly. Shifting to drive he cut the wheel to the right, and maneuvered from the parking lot. He made sure to drive carefully. Not just because Tweek was in the car with him, but also because it was common sense not to drive like an idiot. He was smart like that. Level-headed.

Tweeks demeanor changed the moment Craig got onto the street. He could practically hear the way the other’s hand tensed, grabbing the seat anxiously. The sound of Tweek shifting around to pull slightly at the seatbelt and the collar of his shirt. Craig focused on the road, knowing that if he even glanced over at the other it would simply worsen his anxiety. The thought of the other yapping to keep his eyes on the road made a small smile tug at the corner of the ravenette’s lips. Keeping his composure he coasted smoothly, staying on the right side of the road where no one cared how fast he was going(so he could be at a speed comfortable enough for Tweek).
After what felt like a couple of minutes Craig took note of the sudden twitching and jerking motions to the right of him. He glanced quickly at Tweek, noticing the other seemed to be quietly freaking out. Craig cleared his throat, catching the blonde’s attention, his head whipping towards the sound. “Honey,” Craig started, “what’s bothering you?” He heard a few grunts from Tweek in response, knowing that wasn’t a real answer, but patiently waiting for an actual one. Not even a moment later Tweek sputtered out: “I’m- ARGH- scared out of my mind, Craig!” He started, letting out a frustrated sigh. “What if someone, I don’t know, comes out of nowhere and- ghh- rams right into us!” His head jerked to the side once more as his eyes closed in reflex, hands instinctively going up to reach the ends of his already messy hair.

Craig wasn’t bothered one bit by Tweeks anxieties. Ever since he’d begun driving the other would constantly worry for him. Somehow it was even worse when Tweek was in the car with him. Since this had started to become a regular occurrence, he already knew of some ways to provide distraction. Something stimulating enough for Tweek. Craig gestured with a free hand (keeping the other safely on the wheel) out Tweeks window. “We’re passing a lot of cars, honey. Tell me what colors they are.” Hearing a small grunt from Tweek, it was safe to assume that he was doing what Craig had said. With a quick glance to the side Craig could see the back of Tweek’s head as he stared out the window to observe. Another sigh came out of Craig through his nose, one of relief, in hopes that the cars out there were an ample distraction.
A few moments later, as Craig was finally nearing his destination, Tweek spoke up again. “There was a lot… a lot of black and white,” he paused for a moment before carrying on. “I saw some blue. It’s the same color as your hat. When- if I’m able to drive I want a blue car like that.” Tweek spoke quickly, finishing off his sentence with a small sound as if he was sucking air through his teeth. To continue on Tweek’s train of thought, Craig carried the conversation forwards, asking the simple question of: “why blue?” Tweek instantly started fidgeting with his hands, closing his eyes quickly and swallowing. “Blue reminds me of you, ‘cuz you’re always wearing it!” Tweek spurted out before his twitching started up again. “Oh god, that's super embarrassing, isn’t it?!” The blonde exclaimed. Instead of reaching for his hair his hands reached down and grabbed at the car seat, knuckles almost turning white from his grip. Craig felt a lurch in his stomach, taking a shallow breath. He was flustered. Craig let out a small cough, “that’s not embarrassing Tweek. It’s very sweet.” Craig worded it the best he could. He was never that good at verbally expressing his feelings. Even if it seemed like next to nothing, Tweek still seemed satisfied, loosening his grip on the seat and letting out a small ‘oh.’

“We’re here.” Craig blurted out as he turned into a parking lot. Right into a Mcdonalds. Tweek just stared, staring at the building as Craig parked the car. With a small tilt of his head Tweek asked, “Craig, why here? Why not the drive-through either?” To that, the ravenette simply responded with, “it’s a surprise.” Craig unlocked his seatbelt, pushing the door open. “Stay here. I’ll be right back. I promise.” He added a small bit of reassurance as he closed the door, walking into the building.
The moment he was out of Tweeks sight, Tweek started to silently freak out. He bounced his leg, throwing his head back onto the head rest behind him. Tweek knew it would only take a moment, and he knew Craig would be fine because he’s Craig. He put his hands over his head, letting out a small, exasperated yell. His hands trembled, searching through his mind for any distraction. A moment for Craig felt like an hour of thinking for Tweek. His mind was always active, and it never shut up. The worst part of his overactive mind was that it continuously shouted every single negative possibility as loud as it could. It overtook his other thoughts. Tweek grumbled, feeling a small fuzz in the back of his head before it twitched to the side. He shut his eyes, letting the thoughts in his head overlap until it was nonsense.
He only returned from those thoughts when he felt a warmth on his hand. A small, circular rubbing motion that made all his muscles relax. The source was Craig. Craig, who had grabbed one of Tweeks hands from his face, gently holding it and rubbing it to bring Tweek back to reality in the most calming way possible. Tweek hadn’t realized how fast his breathing was until it started to slow down. He looked up at Craig with a smile, which Craig returned towards him with a smile of his own.

Once he was sure Tweek was back, Craig reached towards the cup holder where he had placed the drinks he bought. Two shakes- specifically the shamrock ones for St. Patrick's day. Tweek saw them, squinting in confusion. “What’s- argh- what is that?” Tweek commented as Craig handed one to him. As Craig took out a straw and poked it in the top for Tweek he explained: “It’s a shamrock shake. Mint flavored. Just try it.” Tweek squinted down at the plastic cup, noticing how his hands got cold from holding the shake. He took in a deep breath as if he was preparing for something much more drastic than drinking, before sticking the straw in his mouth and taking a sip. The flavor hit him- mint. It was very sweet, and very cold in contrast to the hot coffee he drinks every single day. But it was nice. His head twitched unnaturally and he let out a small sound. Craig was worried that he didn’t like it until he saw Tweek go back to drink it again.
Craig drank his own, sitting with his boyfriend in the sanctity of his car as they enjoyed the treat. He chuckled, noticing how every sip Tweek finished would end in a twitch, his hands shaking as he held the cup. Tweek finished his shake before Craig had even gotten through half. “Thanks, mmm, Craig.” Tweek bit the inside of his lip, smiling at Craig lopsidedly. Craig simply nodded, swallowing his sip before responding with a simple “no problem.” With that, he put his cup down and began to drive back home. It wasn’t a long drive, simple and easy, and on the way back Tweek was relaxed.
