Work Text:
They weren’t broke, but explaining that most of your funds were tied up in a Parisian bank that probably still remembered them despite the fact it was thirty years ago is harder.
Family Video it is.
“Okay, it’s still hokey, but at least it has Susan Sarandon.” Robin presses rewind on the machine.
“And Bowie,” adds Steve.
“Yeah, of course Bowie,” replies Robin. “But it’s still a terrible portrayal.”
“Robin, platonic soulmate of my undead life. I don’t think that was the point.”
“I can still hate it.”
“The council rejected our France proposal, didn’t they?”
Robin throws her hands in the air. “They rejected our fucking proposal!”
Steve sighs. “It was a long shot anyway. You know it has to be at least fifty years before you can return to a country where you exposed over two hundred witnesses to a vampiric execution. The High Council had to be called in to hypnotize the crowd.”
Robin takes the tape out. “He deserved it.”
“Yeah, he did.” Steve organizes the candy display. “Sucks we won’t get to go back until the millennium.”
Robin flops over the counter. “No, don’t say that.”
“In the far off time of 2004—.”
“Disgusting.”
“We’ll get to go back to that little cafe with the excellent croissants.”
“Don’t tease me, Steve. I still have dreams about those.”
Steve leans on the counter next to her. “If that vampire club is still open, I owe you a drink.”
“You do!” Robin nudges her shoulder against Steve’s. “Glad you’re exiled with me, dingus.”
“Ditto. Best pal a vampire can have.”
“What, you’re vampires?” asks Dustin as he drops three tapes on the counter.
Robin and Steve share a glance. “Shit.”
