Chapter Text
The warm rays of the early morning sun tickled your face, stirring you from your slumber. Stubborn and not feeling like getting up yet, you turn away from the sunlight invading your room and try to fall back asleep - failing miserably at it. Kicking off the covers and getting up, you couldn't help but frown tiredly at the sun's rude awakening.
The sound of feet dragging could be heard as you made your way over to the wardrobe. The wardrobe was messy and unorganized. Clothes were just messily laying about in the drawers. Not that it bothered you. You were never one for keeping everything tidy anyways. You only ever bothered keeping your gear or more formal clothes neatly. But maybe you should note down to tidy your room a bit anyways.
You made a mental note of that while throwing on some clothes; Nothing special, just a pair of grey joggers and a colourful shirt that reminded you of Gekko and his small crew.
Grabbing the bedroom door handle and pushing it open you enter the tiny hallway. Making your way towards the living room and the kitchen connected to it you can't help but smell something sweet in the air. It smelled oddly familiar, but you couldn't exactly identify what food it was. The apartment seemed a lot more lively as you entered the living area and could already spot that brightly coloured hair sticking out like a sore thumb in the kitchen.
Gekko had his speaker playing in the background, hips moving slightly to the rhythm next to the electric stove he was currently using. The sound of your steps alerted him to your presence and he turned to greet you, giving you a bright smile. It was guaranteed one day you'll melt into the floor from it.
The chance to greet him back disappeared as the sound of something running towards you made you turn your head, only to be met with a blurry, yellow blob inches from hitting you in the face. You fell back when it made contact with your face, something heavy clinging onto your face. You swear you could hear Gekko laughing as he rushed over to remove Wingman from your face and help you up.
"Good morning to you too, little dude" You smiled, rubbing the back of your head. "And to you too," you said while turning your gaze to Gekko.
Gekko let Wingman out of his arms. "Good morning. You okay, mi amor?" he enquired, giving you a playful kiss on the cheek. "Mm..yea, I'm as fine as can be! well maybe I hit my head a little bit, but It doesn't hurt at all".
Stealing Wingman from Gekko you go and plop down on the sofa, a hand coming up to cover your mouth as a soft yawn escaped from your lips, still not completely awake. Wingman cuddled closer into your body as one of your hands rubbed his head and the other reached for the remote on the edge of the sofa. Turning on the TV and scrolling through the channels lazily you finally settle on one of your favourite channels.
A little bit of time flies by and you're snapped out of your thoughts when you hear Gekko call out to you. Right, breakfast. Almost forgot about it. Wingman hopped off your lap and ran to the table, you following behind him. You pull a chair out for the little bro to jump up on before pulling out a chair for yourself and Gekko too as he made his way over. The enticing aroma made your stomach grumble.
"It smells good. What did you make?" you question. Gekko set down a plate of freshly made pancakes, "I haven't made pancakes in a long while, so I decided to make some today for breakfast". The pancakes were made in the shapes of his pets. Sure maybe not all of them were completely perfect, but it's the thought behind it that counts. You could tell the shapes apart. There was Dizzy, Mosh, Wingman, and Thrash. Damn, you almost felt bad for having to eat those pancakes.
Breakfast flew by fast. You and Gekko talked about a lot of different things, joked and wondered about the plans for the day. While trying to stop Wingman from stealing your food Thrash took that opportunity to zip past and steal a pancake anyways. Damn that opportunist. You'd be mad, but let's be real, how can you possibly be mad at any of those cute little fellas? You swear they use their cuteness to their advantage. They could go and break your skateboard and you wouldn't have it in you to be mad at them. Though you hope it doesn't happen either way.
With breakfast done and over with you help Gekko wash the dishes. Of course, he ends up splashing you with water and you dramatically gasp "Oh how could my boyfriend do something like this to me". You both end up in a fit of giggles at your acting. "That was so cheesy", you roll your eyes sarcastically. He throws a dry and clean shirt at you and as you began to pull your shirt off to replace it Gekko takes the opportunity to shove his cold and wet hands against your back making you screech and jump away. Gekko doubles over laughing as you punch his arm and move away further to put the dry shirt on. All the while staring at him accusingly.
The sun was making the apartment hot and because of that you two soon find yourself outside. The heat of the sun and the slight breeze of the wind makes it the perfect weather for being outside, not suffocating inside a building. Gekko was cruising ahead of you on his skateboard, the sun hitting his figure nicely. You smile to yourself and decide to go and catch up to him. You two cruised around and tried to race each other and play a game of skate. Of course, you end up finding yourself and him later distracted with ice cream and boba instead, the skateboards now resting against the side of the bench you were sitting on. The sound of cars and passers-by in the background was something you liked, made everything a bit more lively. Gekko told you funny stories and also joked about the hilarious things that have happened between you two in the time you've known him.
Time with him flew fast, honestly faster than you'd like. You couldn't even tell when you guys had continued on your way and ended up climbing along the hiking trails. Too into talking with your boyfriend. The hand holding your skateboard was starting to get tired, so you decided to switch hands. Gekko wanted to try and find the trail that would lead to an old abandoned building that would have a great view to watch the sunset. There was still quite some time until the sun would start to set and for now, you two would still have to find the right trail to take in the first place. The trail you were on was supposed to lead to the correct one, but in 15 minutes suspicion started to set in that you guys might've gone on the wrong trail, and in another 15 minutes it was confirmed that, indeed, you guys were on a wrong trail and that this trail didn't lead to the correct trail. There wasn't any time to turn back either. The sun was getting dangerously low, so you guys just decided to carry on and maybe you'll see it somehow on the trail. Or better yet, find a new spot on the trail that would have a cool view.
With you two sweating, the water bottle almost empty and your legs tired, you were ready to give up, turn back and accept defeat. However, that idea had to be put to the side when Wingman decided to wander off the trail to a smaller off-map trail that went through the thicket. By the time Gekko noticed Wingman was gone you had no other choice but to go after him on that little trail, once again, forced off the main course. After finding the trail Wingman took, obviously.
"Can this get any worse?" you groaned handing the water bottle back to Gekko. He let a tired sigh escape and patted you on your shoulder "We'll be fine, let's find Wingman first. Then we can rest and maybe we won't be completely late for the sunset!". You admired how positive he always managed to stay and you couldn't help, but feel a bit re-energised from it. "Alright, first to find Wingman pays for the others' food next time?" you offered with a challenging tone. "Deal."
And with that you two split up on the tiny trail, both motivated to find Wingman and also score free food.
The ground was hard and walking didn't really leave any tracks unless the ground was a bit softer in some places. So how did he manage to notice the barely visible tracks of a pair of small feet? No idea.
He followed in the direction and just hoped that Wingman hadn't taken off some other way at one point.
You didn't know how long you'd been walking along this part of the trail, but you came across a tiny trail that branched off of this one through the thicket. Just to make sure Wingman wasn't there, you turned to make your way down there instead. Very quickly you realised that this trail lead you to a little clearing. The sun was setting, the sky was painted a beautiful shade of orange with a hint of pink. A quick picture of the sunset would do no one harm, right? You were about to pull out your phone when you realised that your phone was nowhere to be found. Did it fall out of the pocket and is laying somewhere on a random trail now? Groaning you were about to turn back to go and find your phone - and maybe spot Wingman too while at it. However, plans changed. Once you turned around you were greeted by Gekko and Wingman in his arms walking towards you. "Wanted to donate your phone to nature?" Gekko joked and held up your phone with one hand. "Oh yeah I definitely planned to give my phone to nature" you replied sarcastically, taking your phone back from him. A groan came from you a moment later when you realised something "I lost. Now I have to pay for your food! Damn."
Gekko winked playfully, - the smile you loved so much adorning his face - and wrapped his free arm around your shoulder, closing the distance. Your chest felt warm when you felt a pair of lips against your own. The kiss was light, yet the love that came with it was intense. If your legs didn't feel like giving up on you before, they sure felt like it now. The kiss lasted probably for a few seconds before Wingman let out a noise that sounded similar to something like 'blegh' and smacked Gekkos's cheek making him pull away. You couldn't help but giggle, Wingman was acting like a teen who had to see his parents kiss. You could feel how warm your face was, you were sure the blush on your face was pretty obvious.
"Hey looks like thanks to Wingman's little side adventure we found ourselves the perfect spot! It was worth torturing your muscles for something after all! Right, mi amor?"
You smiled and nodded turning your gaze to the sun that was just about to dip below the horizon. This day turned into quite an unexpected adventure, but that's why it's so great. An adventure from a simple day out that turns into something you'll cherish as a memory the next day. However now with the sun gone, it would begin to get dark out quickly.
Awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck Gekko looked at you and smiled, you knew that was his 'Oops, I realised something' face.
You raised a brow at this, "What?" his smile only got more awkward.
"So, uh, mi amor.....How do we find the way back..?"
