The Sakamaki brother's were attending their baby brother's wedding to Yui in the demon world.
"Who's going to officiate our marriage since vampires don't like priests?" Yui asked. Her father was a priest; she kind of wished he could see her get married but knew he would never approve of her marrying a vampire.
"Oi. One of the familiars probably. You look ...ah beautiful ..." Subaru managed out despite being nervous about the whole thing.
"I do?"
"D-don't make me fuckin' say it again!!"
Yui laughed in response as she could see Subaru's face flush with embarrassment.
"Hey!! Don't be laughing at your future husband!"
Eventually everything was in order and Yui was being walked down the isle by Ayato who kept telling her it was not too late for her to pick him which Yui ignored.
Kanato was forced to be the flower "girl" and was chucking the flowers everywhere. "This is so stupid. This is so fucking stupid....how dare you make me do this...." but he knew Reiji would get mad if he did a piss poor job or ruined the moment for the two so he reluctantly continued.
Subaru looked out into the audience of people and even ....the fucking Mukami were there!
Subaru had asked Kou to be his best man but Kou was still a little salty after losing Eve to him but he didn't say that he just said he was too busy with idol work to come but he was here anyway! That pissed him off! Kou did come after all so he shouldn't be too mad.
Elsewhere in the seated audience Ruki was talking to Kou. "Now remember what that man said. Do not ruin the wedding."
"I'm not!"
Ruki looked at Kou without saying anything.
"I said I'm not! ok?!" Kou was obviously annoyed but Ruki insisted they come pay their respects because of that man.
Ruki did not fully believe Kou but he turned his attention back to the ceremony.
Azusa was crying. "It's so beautiful.... Eve looks so stunning... I'm honestly jealous."
Kanato passed by at that moment and dropped flowers on Azusa. "Shut up!!!! Your crying is ruining the music and my ears!"
Azusa looked up "if you're going to throw flowers ....can you throw the sharp thorned roses on me so they slice me when they hit me, Kanato?"
Kanato just stared and then proceeded to scream. "Shut up!!!! You're so... disgusting!!"
Kanato suddenly punches Azusa in a fit of rage.
"Fufu... Kanato's punches..." Azusa hummed as he rubs the side of his face where Kanato had struck him.
"Stop that at once!" Reiji demanded as Kanato death glared at Azusa.
"Can't control your brothers can you?" Ruki teased. "I can say the same about yours," Reiji replied with a smirk. Ruki looked to see Kou crashing the wedding despite saying he wouldn't.
"Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace," the familiar that was officiating the wedding said as it looked around.
"I do," Kou spoke.
Ruki groaned and nearly slapped his forehead in irritation but he didn't want to acknowledge Reiji's awful little smug demeanor so he resisted.
"Hah?! What's your problem?" Subaru said as he eyed Kou. "First you don't want to come and then you pull this shit?"
"A question was asked, I just answered honestly." Kou smiled. "So don't get so upset."
"How am I not supposed to be pissed when you're trying to fuck with my wedding?!"
This definitely was not going well. It was a good thing Karlheinz had not showed up yet, though Ruki is certain that he's watching from somewhere.
Kou walked over and had the nerve to take Yui's hand. "It's not too late, you can be a runaway bride and choose me, right, m-neko-chan?" He kissed the top of her hand.
Laito cheered, "I'm for the runaway bride thing!"
"Who's side are you on?!" This only spurred Subaru's anger on. "The fun side."
Yui shook her head and pulled away from Kou's touch. "I'm sorry, that's very sweet of you Kou, but I can't do that to Subaru."
Yui the ever polite. Subaru would of told him to fuck off. "Hmm..." Kou mulls over her response. Kou laughs, "it was worth a shot!"
Kou then turned to walk off the little stage and back into the isle to take his seat back but not before saying, "you passed, make him happy, okay?" honestly it's a bit of half-truth, it was worth one more try at corrupting and taking Eve from her Adam but as expected of said Eve, she did not fall for the snake.
Subaru couldn't help but think Kou is kind of a dick for pulling this but the wedding then goes on without any further interruptions. He should've expected his father or someone to test him on this day; of course it would be Kou though.
In a way though, Subaru thinks that's Kou's way of giving him his blessing in his own fucked up Kou shaped way.
After the ceremony mostly everyone has left or they're celebrating at the little after party his father was throwing. Subaru didn't like the noise of it all so he fled to the balcony but of course he wouldn't get peace out here either. "You're a real asshole, you know that? First you say you're not coming then you do that shit," he says it because he knows who's standing there just by Kou's scent alone.
"I know, I guess on some level I was still jealous I wasn't chosen," he hums as he looks at Subaru. "So you test her on my wedding day?"
"Wouldn't you want to be sure?"
Subaru looks at Kou for a moment. "No, I'm not like you, I don't ... I don't do that."
That's right Subaru isn't like him. Either way Eve had chosen her Adam, is it the fault of the snake for only doing its job? Kou doesn't think so. "Well, whatever, congratulations." It sounds bitter and Subaru can't tell if Kou is really happy for him or not. "Thanks," Subaru replies.
Kou then walks off before Subaru can say anything else; he ends up bumping into Ruki who he is sure is still rightfully pissed at him for his outburst earlier but as if his brother can read him he doesn't say anything and simply reaches out a hand to pat Kou's shoulder. "It'll be okay, you're not alone, you have us, we're family."
"I know."
Ruki having had enough of the party banquet himself leads his brothers off and thanks Karlheinz for inviting them.
"Let's go home."
