Work Header

long enough

Summary:

Well it's New Year's Eve party and someone got drunk so other someone had to bring them home.

Notes:

Siebren is light-weighted and Jack Morrison likes to give out hard liquor. Reinhardt and Sigma both liked each other but two are too coward to confess so I had to spike the prom's punch. It's a stupid idea, I know.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

This was a mistake.

He thought to himself, but things were a little bit too complicated as he got that thought. He wished he would have sobered up before realizing it was too late. He was already laying next to Reinhardt without any clothes. His body was aching and something was clearly inside leaking out.

They had sex, did they not?

But how does one come to such a reality without many memories?

It was a New Year’s Eve party, the Overwatch team gathered together and threw one so that they could have a “big family gathering”. To be frank, Siebren did not really feel like he was a part of this family. He was from Talon after all. Even though they rescued him and treated him well, he could not feel the connection that they had with each other. It was mostly on him. He could have stayed at home, called in sick or something. But there was one particular someone that he found interesting there. Reinhardt was there. They didn’t interact much since his recovery, maybe one or two times in the hallway, a water-cooler conversation perhaps had occupied. To say that they were close was not an option.

He just didn’t have many people close to his age in the team, and thinking about having a romantic relationship with Ana or Torbjorn is quite…out of his league. Back at Talon, he had the same feeling. He had this feeling everywhere, actually. Either everyone treated him as a senior, or as a tool. He hadn’t had a friendship close-age enough, how could he dream about a romantic one? “Siebren, you’re just having another daydream” - he kept telling himself.

However, saying that Reinhardt’s appearance did not affect his choice of going would be a lie. He did want to go because of that defined gentleman. Perhaps to talk to each other, to share some close bond, to bask in his lovely sunshine smile. Gosh, he’s off-track again. He’s not a teenager who’s in love, is he?

“Dr. De Kuiper!” - Reinhardt said, approaching the scientist who was just standing idly in the corner. - “Long time no see! How’s your health lately? It seems you’ve gotten better, my friend!”

“Greetings to you too…Mr. Wilhelm.” - Siebren said, smiled to response to Reinhardt’s bright grin. - “I’ve been doing quite well myself lately. I’m glad we could meet.”

“No problem my friend! You can call me Reinhardt, no need for formal attire.”

“Of course, in that case, you can always call me Siebren.”

They shared a small conversation about each others’ hometown. Dutch and Germany weren’t that far from each other. Their accents seemed blended nicely. But of course, in a party, they couldn’t have a small two person group chat. New people came and go, talk to them and leave. But Reinhardt never offered to go away. They talked to a lot of people, a small British girl who stuck in time for a while, the sweet lovely doctor who treated Siebren when he was sick, Dr. Zhou, and many more.

But he never left.

Siebren found himself consuming more and more of that sweet delightful fruit punch when he didn’t know what to say. It was delicious. The sweet scent of berries, the refreshing of citrus and slight hint of peppermint was perfect! And the burn, cognac? Rum? Either way, it really helped calm the nerves.

And making one drowsy.

He can feel himself leaning a little bit closer to the German man.

“Are you okay?” - Reinhardt said. - “You should stop with that fruit punch. Jack knows that there are only “adults” in this party so I guess he ordered it to be strong. But you never strike me as a light-weighted person, Siebren.”

“I’m fine, I’m fine.” - the scientist laughed, he hadn’t laughed for a while now. - “Hey you know what.”

“What?”

“I want to share this evening with you.” - Siebren said, as he pulled himself closer to Reinhardt, causing the man to be surprised. - “Just the two of us.”

That must be the wine talking. Or was the wine only a guide to his heart? Maybe only himself knows the answer. His drunken self kinda wished Reinhardt would just reject him, it would be easier to be rejected and apologized for your action while intoxicated.

But he didn’t reject it.

“Sure.” - Reinhardt said, in a smaller tone and a softer voice. The party was also about to end, no one actually noticed them anymore. Reinhardt took him to his room, which was each, considering his strength. - “I’ll stay with you.”

And there he was, on the soft bed. He looked at the ceiling, the room was warm and cozy, fitting for a big man like Reinhardt himself. He wanted to sleep but his body was burning hot. He was a bit too old for that kind of activity anyway. Siebren looked at Reinhardt, the bigger man was taking off his shirt and…changing into something more comfortable.

“Do you want me to get something for you? My clothes are kind of big but I guess it’ll fit.” - Reinhardt said. - “I knew what you meant out there, and I’m flatter, I really am.”

Siebren can see the other man’s face was blushing a little bit. Or is that his imagination? Reinhardt was…flustered with his invitation? Was that a meaning to their relationship? Did he drink a little bit too much and got a concussion? He doubted it.

“But I don’t want to do that to you when you’re drunk.” - Reinhardt said, scratching his head. - “And I’m not the type to sleep around too.”

He chuckled, looked away. Siebren can feel his face burning red. He stood up from the bed and moved to the man still standing there. He can feel his mind drifting away, since the alcohol was taking over.

“I really like you.”

“You do?”

“Yes. A lot.”

“Don’t regret this…okay? I don’t want you to regret loving me.”

“I’ll never.”

And that is basically it. All of his memories about last night ended there. Siebren still can not connect the dots on how a man who clearly said he didn’t sleep around, slept around with him?! Or is Reinhardt that idiotic to think what he said when drunk was true?

“...”

Okay it was true but what if it wasn’t him but someone else with bad, real bad, intention?!

“You’re awake?” - Reinhardt said. - “I’m sorry for last night.”

“N-No, I should be the one who apologizes. I was drunk…I kind of…uh…get all over you. It was my fault. I know you don’t like it and it’s okay if you don’t like me after–”

“Pff. We didn’t have sex.” - Reinhardt laughed.

“What now?”

“Well, we did kind of have a small foreplay, but you fell asleep right when I was…preparing you.” - his face was red again. Both of them, actually.

“Oh my god.” - Siebren covered his face with his hands. - “I’m so embarrassed. I told you everything inside my heart without any preparation and we ended up here, I don’t know what to do…”

“So…it was not just the alcohol talking?” - An eyebrow was raised. Reinhardt seemed happier than before. - “You actually liked me?”

“Well…y-yeah? You think that I want to sleep with anyone ?!” - Siebren said.

“I mean. No, not really.” - Reinhardt smiled. - “I was kind of worried this was a dream.”

Scientists were smart people, but this one right here was not very smart in this kind of situation. He was kind of dumbfounded to proceed with what had happened in front of him. Did that mean Reinhardt also had feelings for him? What a great coincidence.

“S…So you also…like me?” - Siebren said he had to hear a verbal confirmation to be sure.

The white haired man laughed, he exhaled a long breath, and smiled lovingly at Siebren. Reinhardt leaned in, Siebren didn’t back out. They shared a soft kiss, it felt like sunshine and starlight. Felt like heaven.

“I guess that was my answer?” - Reinhardt said, never thought he would have this kind of charisma toward another person. - “I’ve liked you for a long time now.”

“How…long?” - Siebren asked again, his lips still yearned for another kiss.

“Long enough.”

End.

Notes:

English is not my 1st language and I'm still sleepy. There is no sex because I can't find a good excuse for one. Maybe I'll write some sexy lovey dovey hardcore smut someday but I guess like those two old men, I'm a coward myself. Thanks for reading!
