Work Text:

Alhaitham got home late. He'd done something he never does, drink. He didn't feel too guilty for that, but more for the clock closing to 5 in the morning, and for the way they’dspoken to one another.

His eyesight was a little hazy, and he could tell his steps weren't as steady as usually. He suspected that Yoimiya wouldn't be too excited by his current state. He sighed, breathed in and opened the door. He was expecting yelling, cursing, anything negative.

He stepped in, trying to close the door as quietly as possible, but he could hear the footsteps from the other side of the house as soon as the door clicked shut. His heart leaped into his throat. The reality of messing up was setting in.

He didn't get curses, or yelling, or any kind of anger. Instead, he was tackled into a tight hug, like almost a bone crushing one. Alhaitham was stunned, but the slap on his chest got him back. He was staring at the worried face of his girlfriend. Tears were welling up in her eyes, and it was clear she'd already been crying.

"You drank…" Yoimiya whispered, scrunching her nose up. Her eyes just grew more worried. "Let's discuss the argument in the morning, I need to take care of you now." Her voice was gentle, but it was clear that there was no arguing with her. All Alhaitham could do was obey.

He made his way into their bedroom, and sat down onto their bed. It felt like clouds in his current state. He looked around a little bit, and noticed the small package with a pink ribbon. It had "My love" written on it with a black marker. Alhaitham sighed, knowing full well it was for him. An apology gift, like it was Yoimiya's fault they argued.

He placed his head in his hands. You need two to argue, and they'd both said some hurtful things to each other. She didn't need to get him anything for a mess they both created.

Curiosity got the best of him, and he reached for the gift. It had small tear stains, or that's what he assumed they were. He opened the paper carefully, smiling softly at the ribbon before pulling the paper off to reveal the book he'd mentioned sounded interesting. Of course she would've gotten that, and he loved her for it…

As he was flipping through the pages, pathetically trying to read the words, Yoimiya stepped in. She had a huge glass of water and a bowl of ramen with some chicken on the side. She placed the dishes on the bedside table and handed him the water.

"Please drink up," she spoke, taking the book to the side to free his hands. She felt worried. He'd been gone for hours and turned up drunk. She'd even tried looking for him with Kaveh some hours back. She watched carefully as he accepted the cup and emptied half of it in one go.

"Thank you," Alhaitham grunted, reaching for the food. He knew it was better to eat than suffer in the morning, and seeing Yoimiya visibly relax was more than motivating. He wanted to say something, but didn't know how to start. However, before he could even think about it too much, he felt a soft, lightly ticklish touch on his back.

"Don't do that again, something could've happened," Yoimiya's voice was soft, worried… still not angry like he'd expected… "just keep eating, I'm just taking your jacket, you should shower when you wake up, it's safer," she kept talking in a loving voice, and Alhaitham wondered how she managed to do that.

He watched her walk a few meters, and the air around him felt colder by the second. Not even the food could warm him up like her touch and presence could. He placed the food down, and waited for her to walk back. And as soon as he could, he snatched her into a hug, placing his head on her chest.

She was quick to hug back, one arm pulling him closer by his back and the other's hand busying itself in his hair, softly twirling it. It was almost like she knew exactly what he liked. Yoimiya kept holding him for a moment, before reaching to remove Alhaitham's gloves. "My love, please get comfy for bed," she mumbled before reaching to help him with the rest.

Alhaitham was fairly quick to grab her hands to remove them from him and to help himself, but stopped instead. He decided to let her pull his shirt off, which just made Yoimiya smile sweetly. It wasn't what he usually did, but it seemed really important to her to help him.

She did let him switch into some pajama pants on his own, which was more than alright with him.

Afterwards he finished the food and laid down with a gentle expression. Yoimiya joined him in seconds, having already been wearing her nightgown when he arrived. She was quick to pull his head onto her chest, fingers already ready to play with his hair.

"I'm sorry you felt the need to get me anything, it wasn't your fault alone," Alhaitham mumbled from half under the covers, feeling quite defeated being put into the role of the cuddlee. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, just wanting her to know how much she meant to him. "And for disappearing for so long. You should've been angrier." He sounded almost matter of facty.

Yoimiya shook her head. "Don't apologize, it's alright," she said, placing a kiss onto his forehead. "I don't care about the argument, I'm just happy you're back." She explained, and kept placing occasional kisses onto his forehead. He could only hum in response.

They stayed in silence for a while, until Alhaitham heard soft snoring. He knew he could sleep as well, and as Yoimiya tightened her grip on him, he knew he could also forget about it for the night.
