'Till the day our stars align once more (I will wait for you)

Summary:

Mona is an astrologist, specifically one with great power. As a master of divination easily is she able to interpret the will of the stars that hang aloof on the ever extending sky.

Riddled with it's own burdens and reponsibilities, being an astrologist is not by any means an easy job. For long does it have it's benefits does it have it's own fair share of disadvantages.

And perhaps the most heart numbing one was the ability to know the fates of those you love dearly but being unable to change anything. Merely awaiting fate to do its bidding.

“Let it be. For long as I exist, I will keep waiting for the time our stars align once more.”

“And so rest my dear. When the time comes I will find you and embrace you just as tightly. ”

Work Text:

For Mona fate was never something to against of but rather something to accept. As the will of the stars was not something that can be changed or challenged by mortals, re-weaving one's fate is out the boundaries of human capabilities.

Being the first lesson taught to her by her own master, she had long accepted such. Though years had passed since that day her masters words remain clear in her memory.

“You must accept fate, for being an astrologist is being able to trust it.” Such simple words and yet she hadn't expected it to become the groundwork for her future as an astrologist for years to come.

Upon her understanding Mona studied under her Master's wing for years, experiencing both the trivialities and essential things that come with life.

Her master was a wise woman, possessing great strength and wisdom as well as mastery over her own field easily gaining her title of the best astrologist in teyvat. Truly a someone worthy of a tantamount of respect.

Being able to be the disciple of such a person it isn't surprising that Mona herself was a person that stood out among all others. A one in a millenia prodigy taught by Barbeloth “Teyvat's greatest astrologist”.

As the years passed her time being under her masters tutelage passed as well, having already mastered her own astrology and divinity only second to one. No longer was she a disciple that hid behind her masters' shadow, for she had grown into a bright star that threatened to outshine even the greatest of all.

And so she embarked on her own journey, one that would be immortalized by those who came thereafter. But skilled as she was still there came challenges that blocked her from achieving her goal.

During her journey did she experience freedom in its rawest form. The thrill and excitement as well as deep longing and loneliness that came with it was something Mona had never experienced before.

What kept her going was her dreams, as well as her hopes. Having already mad ever own decision Mona wasn't one that would give up in such a manner. This was her own journey. Her own path if she wasn't going to walk it then who would? And thus came her perseverance.

Coming from a wealthy family, perhaps it was a bit surprising to find out the extent of her won perseverance. But though she endured it doesn't mean that it was easy.

Infact it was rather difficult. For the amount of times she encountered problems revolving money was common enough that you would actually wonder if she was truly from a wealthy family.

Mona's counteraegument to that was always “astrology apparatus as well as books are incredibly expensive even the richest person in teyvat would get broke sooner or later rif they had to keep buying such!” then providing incredibly long and unnecessary explanations of how she is infact not broke.

Nevertheless she was still able to fair quite well, being able to eat three meals per day as well as stay at a reasonably good housing.

But there still existed times where in she lacked a 'little' mora and thus unable to stay in the place she had previously rented. It was on one of those days that she met them.

-

The rain poured down harshly, not a single trace of the once bright and blue sky. Everyone was rushing to their houses trying their best to avoid getting soaked. But one stood out amongst all the fleeing figures. That was Mona.

While everyone else was running she just stood there soaked from head to toe to the point it would be surprising if she didn't get sick afterwards. Mona stood her lamenting her terrible luck.

She looked around trying to find some kind of shelter that would keep her from getting even more wet though it was impossible to get even more wet as she already was. From her side she found a tree with some kind of makeshift or perhaps unfinished platform type of shade.

She ran towards it removing her soaked hat, before huddling herself in attempt to get even a tiny bit of heat. But instead of getting warmer she only found her self shivering even stronger from the cold.

"If I don't get sick from this.. I think I can finally be considered an immortal." Mona whispered to herself. A few moments later she had lost hope no longer huddling but rather just standing there leisurely as if she had already accepted her predicament until,

"What are you doing there standing out there in the rain?" A light voice sounded from afar, she turned around and saw a seemingly frail figure, thin and weakly with an unhealthy paleness found in their skin. The figure stood there with a hand holding down their shawl with one hand as the other held an umbrella.

The figures' voice resounded once more “do you wish to remain under the rain like that?” the hint of concern in their voice made Mona feel a bit dumb. Such a display of concern for a stranger was something she had never seen before.

A few moments passed before Mona finally responded "No”. She said dryly.

The figure responded softly like, their voice touching her heart like a departing fireflies touch. “ then come here.”

She walked quickly, almost running.

Upon entering the house she felt her body start to warm up a again. " here" the person said gently handing Mona a clean towel to dry herself with.

“wait near the fireplace first I'll find some spare clothes for you to wear.”

“okay.” Mona responded making her way to the fireplace, her eyes darting around the place along the way. Their house was simple but decorated nicely, accompanied by the sound of the rain and the warmth of the fireplace it seemed incredibly comforting letting Mona relax her tense limbs.

A few moments passed before the person came back bringing a pair of clean clothes for Mona to change with.

"Here you go. "

Mona accepted.

"You can change there" the person pointed to the bathroom.

Mona nodded.

Turning her back to change before pausing stiffly. She turned around: "thank you." She said, black eyes filled with indescribable softness with a small smile hanging on her lips.

The person seemed stunned pausing for a moment before responding: "there is no need for thanks but.. You're welcome...”

Mona smiled her eyes turning into cresents, “I am mona.” she introduced herself “may I get to know your name?” she asked.

“[name].”

“my name is [name].”

“I see.” Mona responded her voice incredibly gentle.

“it's nice to meet you [name].”

“...” [name] paused, hearing her name be unttered in such a manner.. They looked to the side hiding their expression.

“it's nice to meet you too, Mona.”

And perhaps it was in that moment wherein the fates of two people seemingly unrelated to one another intertwined. Leaving them lifetime's of entanglement.

Notes:

I was trying to have this gentle feeling for the last part but I'm not sure if I achieved it lol, and oh yeah sorry for anything grammatical mistakes? English is not my first language so I guess it's inevitable.

Thank you very much for reading! I hope I'll be able to finish the second chapter soon! ♡
