Work Text:

it just seemed as if the heavenly ones loathed your existance.

you were an outcast, a weirdo who had an obsession with the arts of alchemy ever since you were young. you barely had anyone to consider friends, not to mention any that had grown up with the fascination towards nerdy science stuff. frequently, scars and bruises appeared on your delicate child's skin after the mondstadt children decides to pummel you for your odities.

at home, you were the only pillar for 2 of your younger siblings to lean on everytime the dinner table turns into arguments. you were your parents verbal, sometimes physical, punching bag. you endured everything just to make sure the youngers wouldn't witness the terrible reality of your broken family. it was as if you had numbed yourself from years of the abusive grasps of your parents.

within the knights of favonius, everyone seemed distant towards you, even the oh so virtuous noelle seemed to stray from path once your deranged self appeared. you didn't have a vision, and everyone made comments every step for feet takes.

"yikes... if i were them i'd just stay home..."

"have you heard of y/n from the investigation teams?"

the only people that has accepted you as who you are were the chief alchemist and his student, sucrose. they both welcomed you in as a fellow nerd. they both made you feel welcomed and you are greatful for it. between the two, albedo took care of you the most. as a friend, he would often look out for you and loved to ramble on about his experimentations so eagerly with you. his love and enthusiasm for his work alongside his striking appearance made you fell infatuated with the blonde haired prince.

you've always been a hopeless romantic, always daydreaming about someone to swoop you off your feet and hold you tight in their arms. and now, as you stood from afar, hearts seems to surround itself around the chief alchemists figures.

but then again, the gods hated you.

"mister albedo you forgot to take care of yourself again did you..?" sucrose asked meekly, a hint of concerns hiding itself behind her words.

"o-oh.. are the eyebags that obvious?" albedo chuckled softly, his soft tones rang inside your head. how the tips of his ears flared read when the bioalchemist confronted him of his self destructive nature in exchange for passion and how sucrose wouldn't notice it. no one did but you who stood from afar. it made your heart twinged a bit, just a bit.

to say the alchemist didn't look as infatuated with sucrose as you are with him was a lie and everyone could tell it. the way only his face would paint itself cherry coloured at her melodius voice, the way his eyes light up everytime he engages a conversation with sucrose and not you would make your chest hurt more everytime.

right now, as you stand a few footsteps away from the crafting bench, you felt warm tears began cascading over your eyelids and onto the grove of your cheeks.

why are you even crying, it's not like you even had a chance.

she's better than you in all aspect,: the smarts, the looks, the personality...

she's the better version of yourself.

and why were you crying now? you should be feeling happy.

tears didn't stop itself as you broke into a full sob, leaving your faced blemished with salty tears of a broken heart. you turned away, avoiding the eyes of the people around and left.
