If there's one thing that James loves waking up to it's the view of a blissful Sirius snoozing on his chest, looking like he's completely and utterly at peace with the world. After years of torture in Azkaban and that horrid house, it took many nights after his return of consoling Sirius at night before he was finally about to get Sirius to be this blissful when he sleeps.
James cherishes this view for that reason. He loves seeing the pain and stress fade away to see the amazing man beneath it all. His gorgeous, amazing man that he’s madly in love with.
He kisses Sirius’ forehead, causing Sirius to stir.
“Are you watching me sleep, again?”
“Yes, and you should go back to sleep, I’m quite enjoying the view.”
“Jay,” Sirius says, giving him a sleepy look that is almost as good as watching him sleep. “You know we’ve got a kid to worry about, so we actually do need to get up.”
James grins, “Guess you forgot. Harry decided to be a good older brother/godfather – still can’t believe Remus put that on him – and is watching our rambunctious little five-year old for the whole weekend. That means Teddy isn’t going to come running in here any minute trying to wake us up. So, you can go back to sleep.”
Sirius chuckles. “You can’t tell me that we can have a lazy morning in bed and expect me to go back to sleep.” Sirius leans up to give him a kiss and adds, “But if you like watching me sleep so much, we can take a nap after.”
“Deal.”
