Sadistic Sweets

Summary:

Prompt: Bunny

Edward points out Jon’s eating peculiarities.

Work Text:

“You realize you’re a complete psychopath eating your snacks like that, right?” Edward said as he sat next to Jonathan Crane currently biting the heads off of gummy bears and leaving the bodies for later.

“And? We’re in the right place for it, Edward,” was the disinterested reply before slapping at a questing hand reaching for his bag of gummies.

“No. I mean you do it all the time with any treat shaped like an animal. I’ve noticed you eat the limbs off of gingerbread men before going onto the head. At Easter? Chocolate bunnies lose their ears then their tails, then the rest. It’s not like others who just choose a place to start then go on, you avoid the vital areas if the confections were alive to draw out the suffering, or in this case fear.”

Jon sat back with an unimpressed look on his face. He pointed to the decapitated bears on the table.

“And how are the heads not vital, Edward?”

“The bears are too small to properly do your usual sadism so you put on a show for the other bears. Up their fear as you pick off their number-“ Edward’s finger tapped next to the pile of ‘dead’ bears. “- one by one.”

An amused huff and another bitten bear was the response.

“And it keeps others from stealing the already contaminated candy,” Ed shrugged, popping an intact and stolen bear into his mouth.

“Who says what you’re eating isn’t already contaminated?”

Edward slowly stopped chewing and looked at Jon with an unspoken question.

“I know how much you like stealing my food, Edward. And I’m immune to a few strains of my toxin. You aren’t.”

Jonathan laughed at how fast Edward ran to spit out the candy in the trash. He didn’t bring up the question of how he would’ve gotten his toxin to frivolously use on his food instead of the guards, but Edward didn’t know that.
