Work Text:
One of James’ favorite things as he watches Sirius and Harry working on Sirius’ bike is just admiring the similarities between their son and his pads. Harry had spent so much time being half-raised by Sirius that he had picked up many of his traits and interests.
Hence the reason that they’re both wearing ratty old jeans and holey t-shirts. They’ve got on bandanas and their hands are mess, but they always say it’s worth it.
It’s worth it for them to bond and hang out together doing the simple things in life. Harry seems to love the similarities between them, largely because he’s tired of being compared to James, and James loves it, too. There’s no better person for Harry to emulate than the man that is the love of his life.
“Alright, kid, go get cleaned up before we take this baby for a ride.”
“Eye, Eye, Captain,” Harry teases as he fake solutes and runs inside.
Sirius, meanwhile, comes over to him. “Did you enjoy watching us?”
“Always,” James grins. “I love seeing you work with your hands.” He gives him a wink, causing Sirius to laugh. “And I love that you and Harry are so much alike. The two of your have a lot in common.”
“Don’t worry, he loves being like you, too,” Sirius assures him. “He’s quite happy to be getting to know you now that you’re back, you know?”
James nods. “I know – he just feels more comfortable being like you.”
“And it’s not a bad thing.”
“No, it’s not. There’s no one better to be,” James says, smiling. He pulls him close and gives him a kiss. “And I promise that I’m not jealous – I love it. I love that he wants to be just like one of the most amazing men I’ve ever known.”
“Good.”
