As kayla and Austin had been kidnapped from the death race three legged race thing. Sure, Apollo and his little friend Meg going to get them had calmed Will down a little but he was still that much worried. It wasn't often that Will seemed so despaired and so in his head. Nico understood the worry … somewhat. He wasn't as close to the two missing Apollo kids , but worried about siblings he did know. Nico tried to distract Will by playing volleyball which worked for a while before Will had been called to the infirmary because some idiot thought it was a great time to break their arm.
Of course , being in the infirmary just got to Will even more , missing and worrying so much more. Worrying and missing his siblings only built up even more, realising how much he missed ma'am or even texas . After fixing the campers arm he zoned out, staring at the infirmary floor.
Nico walked behind Will, placing his hands on the blonde's shoulders “how are you feeling?” he asked , thumbs kneeing Will’s shoulders. The blonde pulled from his daz and leaned back into Nico “i’m worried” Will muttered and placed one of his hands on top of his boyfriends.
“Me too” Nico sighed , “i am not good at comforting…um”
“I know hun, i know you've been trying and i really appreciate it” Will spun around in his chair to face the son of Hades , holding his hands. This is when Nico noticed Will's hands were shaking “Apollo will do his best , I don't doubt it … I mean the fates got him to the camp for a reason right?” Nico squeezed the others hands.
Will nodded his head , tears grew in his blue eyes and ducked his head down. His shoulders shook and let out a large breath.
“Will…” Nico gently cupped Will's jaw and made Will look at him “your siblings are very strong willed , they should..uh..”
Will slung his arms around Nicos waist. “Fuck, Nico i’m terrired, i miss them , i feel pathetic i cannot do shit . .. I cannot save people unless they are already hurt… i can't..” Will quietly cried into Nicos chest. The smaller ones' hands moved and brushed Will's hair.
“Will, without people being healed is important so that people can protect all over again” Nico kissed the top of Will's head. I think it is called… the butterfly effect?”
Will slowly moved up his head from Nicos chest , his eyes ringed red and teary “no … honey that's not what the butterfly is” he shook his head “not even close”
Nico puckered his lips and looked away from his boyfriend slightly embarrassed “okay.. Well, my point is, without a healer, no one would even survive a single day at camp” Nico brushed his thumb under Will's eyes, wiping away any stray tears “and , love, you’re far from pathetic .. you can admit you are weak or scared ,you can cry in front of people .. you are very brave”
Will hide his head once more in Nico’s chest “thank you..”
Nico gave a small nod of his head “wanna get out of here?” he asked, thinking Will would need a change of scenery. Will hummed “that would be nice”
“Come on then'' Nico pulled his boyfriend out of the chair, sniffing a few times and wiping his own eyes “wanna get a book and read it together in my cabin?” Nico suggested, giving a small smile. Will agreed, knowing Nico would want to read to him. It was Nico learning English as it's his second language. Nico would speak english pretty darn well, but reading it was a whole new issue to which he described it as ‘having his brian poked at by a burning torch’ which seemed fair enough. English was meant to be a hard language to learn.
The two boys had spent the rest of the day reading books they had found on bookshelves in the big house. Nico and Will had curled up to each other on nicos bed, one of Nicos hands combing Wills bright blonde hair and the other holding the books as Will leaned fully on Nico, his arms tucked between them and finding comfort in his boyfriend's warmth and voice. There would be a few moments here and there where Nico would struggle with words in the book, Will having to help him only when Nico was throwing a tantrum without knowing the word.
Wills eyes drifting closed "I miss the sea…" he muttered into the others neck.
Nico hummed and looked down at the sleepy blonde "the sea?" He repeated , slightly confused.
"Every weekend, me and ma used to go to the sea, have a day out there" Will explained.
Nico placed down the book he was ready and tilted his body to wills "tell me about it?" He offered. Will shrugged his shoulders "we would leave as early as we could to get to the beach and leave as late as possible" he said "Ma taught me how to surf"
"No wonder you have a surfer body" Nico poked Wills cheek as he hugged him tightly. Will gave a lazy nod of his head "I miss… I really miss it"
Nico clicked his tongue "I'll do what I can" he whispered and watched as Will slowly fell asleep in his arms.
The next day, Nico was pulling Will towards the lake.
"Neeks , I'm meant to be in the infirmary.." Will signed but made no effort to leave Nico. The Italian only smiled and kissed Will's knuckles as they walked. Will brushed and puffed "what are we doing?"
"Going to the lake , i already said" Nico repiled , giving a gentle smile.
When they got to the lake , moist air surrounding them, Nico led them to a boat just balanced on shore. Confused as he was , Will followed the raven head. "In" Nico instructed, index finger pointing at the worn out boat. "Why?" Will tilted his head like a confused puppy - because he kinda was one in the present moment. Nico rolled his eyes and pulled Will to the wall of the boat "you said last night that you missed the sea and surfing " Nico sighed "and I know this is a lake and a boat but , um , I want to make you happy"
Will's heart swelled and he squeezed Nico without warning, Nico feeling like his ribs were about to go bye bye. "This.. okay?" Nico doubt checked , giving the blonde a squeeze back. Will placed a small kiss on Nicos cheek "thank you, I really don't deserve you" Will placed another kiss down Nicos neck. Nico was about to say 'I'm the one who doesn't deserve you' but he didn't , this was Will's time to feel shitty, not Nicos.
"Want to get in the boat now?" Nico questioned.
Will nodded his head "Lemme push it into the shore first , you get in"
"You sure? I can-"
"I'm sure" Will kissed Nicos cheek once more and helped the boy into the boat . "I didn't need your help getting in the boat , solace" Nico grumbled and sat on the boat's bench and picked up the ores . Will just rolled his eyes and pushed the boat into the water till it was at drift. This being the only time since Will got here wearing his out of style flip flops was appreciated.
Will leaped into the boat, causing it to shake sideways. Both of them holding to the sides “jesus Will” Nico cursed and flipped the blonde off. Will only grinned and took one of the oars from his smaller boyfriend. “How far out are we going?” Will asked, as they dunked their oars in the water as they paddled. “Hm, until you say” Nico replied.
Will grinned “right-o! Let's get into the middle of the lake, whop whop” Will got hyped up as they paddled.
Even though it wasn't the waters weren't like the waters at the beach Will and his ma’ used to go to , but Will was hyped up all the same. Maybe it was because Nico was here?
It wasn't as hard as Nico thought it would be , but the whole time the two of them paddled , Nico couldn't help but stare at Will's glowing eyes. “I think my type is boys who like water” Nico thought under his breath , but Will heard him and laughed, “thought percy jackson wasn't your type?”
“Ew he's not i…”
Will just winked at his boy and stopped paddling as the two of them were now in the middle of the lake.
They put their Oars down the boat. “I know you don't like percy anymore , I know i’m hella lot better than that Kid”
“He's older than you” nico giggled and took Wills hands “besides, you are so so much cuter than him , like an otter”
“An otter?”
Nico giggled even more “you are cute, kiss me”
“Nah”
“Why ?” Nico pouted.
“You prefer Percy to me” Will tutted.
“Fuck sake will!” Nico laughed and leaned over, kissing the blonde's lips softly. Nico covered Wills hands with his own “just so you know, I would pick Percy over you any day”
“Good” Will kissed him gently and smiled.
Nico tried to keep smiling but then his smile jumped and he gasped lightly “what the fuck is that” he huffed and stood up on the boat, jaw clenched. Will raised a brow and looked over his shoulder to see what Nico was cursing about “you have to be shitting me” Will huffed as he and his boyfriend watched a large half naked state of HIS DAD storming over to the came “we could have been anywhere for this attack… literally goodman anywhere..”
“mmhm”
