Everybody thought that the war was over.
Everybody thought that the good guys won.
Everybody thought that times were getting better.
Everybody thought, but nobody observed.
Everybody knew Gabriel Agreste was Hawkmoth.
Everybody knew Adrien Agreste was innocent.
Everybody knew that the villain was defeated.
Everybody knew, but nobody paid attention.
Nobody saw it coming.
Nobody thought about it.
Nobody realized that the Butterfly Miraculous was nowhere to be found.
The initial shock at Hawkmoths defeat - and his identity reveal - was replaced with joy and hope. Paris was ecstatic. Victory celebrations had lasted nearly two months. A public tribute was held. Medals and decorations were awarded and presented to Ladybug and Chat Noir. A statue was erected in honor of the heroes. Even a holiday was named after them. People gathered outside. Tears of joy were shed, strangers hugged, music played, children sang and couples danced. Paris seemed utopian.
Until a cold November day when the realization finally kicked in.
When everybody realized the bad guys were not gone.
When everybody realized the war was far from over.
