You had fallen into a routine. Come home from work, make dinner, eat at the table and discuss your day, then cozy down on the couch, putting on a show or just background music as Hongjoong worked on a song for another couple hours and you just relaxed by his side.
Today was a little different than usual. When you walked in the door you were greeted by Mr. Kim “Don’t trust me with anything you want to eat. It might not be edible when I’m done with it” Hongjoong, who had filled the kitchen table with a wide variety of his and your favorite dishes. Everything from kimchi stew to wiener schnitzel and spaetzle was on the table.
“Why-” you began to ask.
“You deserve it. You’ve been working hard recently and I wanted to surprise you. Don’t worry, I didn’t cook any of it.” he added nervously, “Other than the kimchi stew… my mom would kill me if I bought it instead of making it from scratch. Your mom made the wiener schnitzel and had me pick it up 15 minutes ago. I kept it in the oven while I waited for you to get home.” You giggled, and Hongjoong looked at you, clearly nervous that he might have gone overboard.
“I love it, darling. Thank you.” You stepped over to him and kissed him softly before moving back to the table with excitement radiating from you. “Now… FOOD!”
It was Hongjoong’s turn to chuckle as you sat down and immediately grabbed your fork and knife and held them up on the table. “What do I eat first? THERE’S SO MANY OPTIONS!” You grinned wide and looked up to him.
“I’d start with what you mom made, you know that’s best while it’s still crispy,” he said while passing the plate and gravy over to you. “Dig in.”

Hongjoong insisted on cleaning up dinner, “I made the mess, I’ll clean it up. You go put on a show, babe,” he said as he shooed you over to the couch.
You put on one of your shared favorite musicals and cozied up under the blankets to watch the show. About 15 minutes later he tucked the blankets around you further with a soft gleam in his eye before sitting beside you and pulling out his laptop to work.
By the time the movie was over, you were absolutely exhausted and ready to sleep, so you unburied yourself from the blankets and stood up. You had gotten halfway across the room when you heard Hongjoong whimper.
You spun around to see him giving you puppy dog eyes and pouty lips. “I don’t get a kiss?”
You chuckled softly, returning to the couch, “I should shower and then crawl in bed. You should join me Joong, it’s late." You leaned down to give him a peck and the next thing you knew he’d pulled you down on top of him so that you were straddling him with his arms wrapped around you.
“But I want kisses. My snuggly wife just left me alone on the couch. I don’t know if I’ll recover,” he said with a faux pout.
“Oh no. Poor Joongie. I guess I’ll have to start the funeral arrangements.”
Hongjoong flipped the blanket over your back so you were cocooned in his arms and he began leaving soft kisses on your neck. “Just cuddle a little bit longer, babe. I just want to hold you in my arms.”
