Work Text:

“It’s fucking freezing, Robs,” says Steve.

Robin rolls her eyes and pulls a wool blanket out of her bedroom. “I thought Boy Scouts were supposed to be prepared?”

“What about me screams Boy Scout?”

“I dunno, little Stevie Harrington looked pretty dweeby in those family portraits.”

Steve snorts and wraps the blanket over his shoulders. It smells like Robin’s shampoo and the wine coolers they spilled last September. “So what are we doing on your roof?”

Robin spreads her hands across the inky sky. “You know constellations, Harrington?””

“Like the dippers?”

“Especially the dippers.” Robin points to the Little Dipper. “Right by the Little Dipper is Draco. It’s a wonky line of stars with a box at the end. And if you follow the cup part of the Little Dipper is Bootes.” She points back to the cluster of stars. “That’s where we want to watch.”

“For?”

She smiles. “You’ll see.” Robin pulls out a giant thermos and they drink hot chocolate from the same cup.

Steve watches the spot and soon bright streaks arc across the sky. “Wow.” He leans against Robin. “This is prime date material. You’ll have to remember when we get you a girl.”

Robin nudges him back. “Sadly, that’s not in my immediate future.” Robin plays with her hair. “My last semester starts next week.” She faces him. “You know, I thought I was going to graduate high school with no friends, but I’ve got you.”

Steve hugs her. “Yeah, you do Robs. You do.”
