Chapter Text

“…Gyu. I leave you alone for one second, and yet… you somehow managed to turn the ship from west to almost south! How do you even accomplish that?” A sharp voice calls out, breaking the tall man out from his short-lived trance.

“Oh my g— Wonwoo, sir. I’m so sorry,” The man gave the other a deep bow and Wonwoo just shook his head. “I’m so very sorry! I-I just like… I don’t know how—” he tried to start, before being abruptly cut off by the elder.

“Mingyu, drop the formalities. I’ve told you countless times that I don’t care what you call me. What I do care about is your sense of direction and steering abilities. Didn’t you want to learn how to navigate?” Wonwoo ranted. Mingyu couldn’t find it in himself to look Wonwoo in the eye, so he instead awkwardly stares at his feet and nods in response. “Navigating isn’t just learning the stars or the cardinal directions… you need to steer the ship properly as well!”

“I know, Wonwoo sir— shit. Sorry, force of habit,” Mingyu cursed under his breath and let out a huge sigh. “Listen, I don’t know if you’d even believe me, Wonwoo… but I fell into a trance out there. Like… one minute I was happily steering west, then the next minute, you’re shouting at me!” Wonwoo stared Mingyu down, and Mingyu swore he felt his eyes burning a hole in him. To Mingyu’s surprise, Wonwoo gave him a small nod.

“I believe you. To be honest, I don’t know why you thought I wouldn’t. That kind of hurt,” Wonwoo smirked, and Mingyu turned beet red. But before he could even open his mouth to retaliate or even say something else, Wonwoo continued his statements. “Anyways, back onto the topic at hand. I do indeed believe you Gyu. Your recollection… It aligns with the tale of the sirens. It’s been passed down for ages. Have you truly not heard of it?” Wonwoo inquired.

Mingyu gives it a quick thought, but ultimately shakes his head. “I have not heard of the tale. Is…it gruesome? Frightening?” He asked.

Wonwoo let out a small chuckle. “Only if you find it happening to you!”

“But, hyung… it did happen to me! You said that the whole trance thing I experienced completely aligns with this stupid story!”

“You worry too much Gyu. At least let me tell the whole tale!”

“Hyung, are you sure it’s even real? I know how many books you read!”

“Yes! I’m sure! Now just listen to me please!” Wonwoo laughed.

“Alright, fine. Seungcheol better not find us slacking off. If he does, I’m blaming it all on you. I’m actually trying to get back to work.”

“Three things, Gyu. One— You are not actively trying to get back to work. Look at yourself. You’re basically dying to hear what I have to say. Dare I say it’s because you're worried that this siren tale might just affect you.” Wonwoo teased. Mingyu knew Wonwoo was right, but just rolled his eyes anyway. “Two— You cannot blame me for this mess. You literally turned the ship in the wrong direction! That’s how we got on this topic to begin with anyways.” Mingyu gave him a small glare and continued just sitting there impatiently waiting for Wonwoo to finish his arguments. “Three— We aren’t going to get found out anyways… You know Seungcheol is talking to Jeonghan currently, right? They’d talk for hours if you let them. Seungcheol adores Jeonghan. Everyone on this ship knows that…” Mingyu actually let out a small laugh.

“I mean… you are not wrong.”

“Of course, I’m not! Now, shall we get started on that siren tale?”

“Oh! Are you telling stories, Wonwoo?” A loud voice shattered the serene atmosphere. “If so, I would absolutely love to hear one!” Wonwoo stole a glance at Mingyu, who was sighing from exasperation, then turned around and met eyes with his elder.

“Ah, Soonyoung! Are you not busy?” Wonwoo questioned.

Soonyoung laughed. “No! Of course not! I’m free! Nothing to do currently! In fact, I pre-organized the cannons and loaded them just in case of any sudden ambushes. Oh! I also talked to Junhui and Minghao earlier about getting some—”

Please, Soonyoung! I’m trying to hear this story! If you wanna hear it just sit down and stop talking! If this takes any longer, I swear Seungcheol is going to come and beat our asses,” Mingyu begged in frustration. Soonyoung just giggled at Mingyu.

“Alright, fine… Go on Wonwoo!” Soonyoung insisted. Wonwoo swore he heard Mingyu curse or say something under his breath, but didn’t push it. Instead, he began to tell the tale that had been passed down in the pirate crews for generations.

“The tale of the sirens is a sad and dark one, or at least, it’s generally interpreted as one on the surface,” Wonwoo started, “However, over the years, many people have tried to see it from the sirens’ point of view as well.”

Soonyoung snorted aggressively, “I’ve heard about sirens! Fuck them to be honest. Why the fuck would you even try and consider it from their point of view? I think it’s—” Soonyoung was abruptly cut off by Mingyu.

“Shut it, Soonyoung! I’m trying to listen to the damn story, please!”

“…Sorry, Gyu. I always do this, don't I?”

“Go off on a tangent? Yeah, you do.”

Wonwoo sighed for what seemed like the twentieth time today. “Are you guys finished with your arguing yet? It’s quite annoying to be honest with you.” Mingyu and Soonyoung glanced at each other, then back at Wonwoo and nodded.

“Yes, we are finished,” they replied in unison.

“Alright,” Wonwoo started, “I’m going to continue again. Does that sound good?” They both nodded and replied with a short ‘yes.’

Wonwoo then resumed telling the story, “Sirens are quite mysterious, mythical creatures… cursed to forever roam the seas. It is unknown why exactly they are bound to a curse. It is something many researchers, explorers… basically everyone has been trying to figure out for decades, maybe even centuries.”

“What about you, hyung? Weren’t you an apprentice for a researcher before you came here?” Mingyu asked curiously.

“Indeed I was! That’s how I learned of the tale for the first time actually. I learned many things while I was there, including navigation. We never discovered anything regarding the sirens. He believed the secrets of the curse were actually encrypted. Someday… I would like to solve the curse,” Wonwoo smiled. “Although I learned so much from him, I still believe that fate led me to you guys.”

“Wow, Wonwoo. Way to make us emotional…” Soonyoung teased lightly.

Wonwoo laughed, and Mingyu shyly smiled at him. “Didn’t mean to make you emotional, Soonyoung! But, it’s true! Let’s continue, shall we?” Wonwoo then proceeded to continue the story. “Unfortunately, this is where we get dragged into the mess… because sirens are able to pass their curse to a mortal… and they can return to life on land, while the human continues the cycle of the sirens’ curse.”

“What do you mean pass the curse, Wonwoo?” Mingyu asked.

“Sirens rid themselves of their curse by passing it onto humans.”

“So like… it’s a one-for-one thing? The siren becomes a human, and the human becomes a siren?” Mingyu questioned the elder.

“Precisely.”

“How is the curse passed? Do you know?”

Wonwoo unfortunately shook his head, “No one has even seen the curse get passed. We are unsure of what happens both to the human who becomes a siren and the siren who becomes a human. We don’t know if they can remember anything about their past life or even if they know what just happened to them.”

“If sirens are bound to the sea, then how exactly can they even reach a human to pass the curse in the first place?”

Soonyoung makes his presence known and butts in before Wonwoo has the chance to answer, “I’m genuinely surprised you have never heard this story before, Mingyu. I have the answer for you, and I won’t put it nicely like Wonwoo would.”

“Soonyoung—”

“They put you into a trance and lure you into the depths of the sea with their oh-so charming voice, then drown you and pass the curse. They go on living happily, while the former mortal has to suffer the rest of their immortal little life,” Soonyoung snorted.

What?” Mingyu stared at Soonyoung. “Wonwoo, please tell me he’s kidding…”

“…He’s not. I just wouldn’t have put it that way.”

“Oh my g— then when I fell into a trance earlier… I just narrowly escaped death, didn't I? That’s why you said it aligned with the siren’s tale. Oh my god, fuck. Fuck, fuck—” Mingyu started cursing, but Wonwoo pushed it out of his mind and turned to Soonyoung instead.

“You had to be overdramatic, didn’t you hyung?” Wonwoo asked him.

“I wasn’t being overdramatic,” Soonyoung whined. Wonwoo gave a death glare and Soonyoung dodged eye-contact. “Maybe I was a little overdramatic…”

“Just apologize so he’ll stop cursing and panicking…”

“Hey, Mingyu!” Soonyoung shouted, startling him, “I’m sorry… I… was very overdramatic about what I said. It wasn’t necessarily a lie, but I just… I hate sirens a lot. It’s a personal thing. Sorry that I made you panic.”

“Your apology isn’t enough to make me stop panicking, but I’ll accept it,” Mingyu admitted, “So then Wonwoo, how would you describe what Soonyoung said?”

Wonwoo looked at Mingyu and sighed, “I don’t think you would like it either way… Sirens do lure sailors and pirates to sea with their voices. However, I would say it’s less terrifying than how Soonyoung describes…Please try not to worry about it, Mingyu. I think there’s more important things that should be worried about first… like your sense of direction,” he muttered under his breath after explaining to Mingyu.

“Oh. Alright. Thanks for explaining, Won.”

“Won? You have names for each other?” Soonyoung chuckled.

“Shit… I said Wonwoo. I just trailed off, sorry.”

“Sure… Mingyu. Anyways, I need to talk to Minghao about getting something fixed. Wonwoo, I had fun with story time. Be sure to tell me when the next one is!” Soonyoung exclaimed, and swiftly left the two others alone.

Wonwoo glanced at Mingyu, who was clearly still deep in thought and processing the entire situation that had gone down within a span of minutes. Wonwoo didn’t say anything, but remained next to him. After another minute of processing, Mingyu finally broke the silence.

“So… a few things. First, I’m sorry I called you Won, hyung. I don’t know why it slipped from my mouth like that. Second, hearing that Soonyoung hates sirens makes me curious. Do you hate sirens? The way you talked about them and the way Soonyoung talked about them is very different.” Mingyu let everything out to Wonwoo.

Wonwoo softly smiled, “Like I said earlier, I don’t care what you call me. Won… it’s a nice nickname to be honest.” Mingyu felt like his heart went faint. “But to answer your question, no. I don’t hate sirens. How could I when they are just former humans that were unfortunate to have the curse passed to them. Soonyoung… he had past experiences with sirens, and I completely understand why he dislikes them. But me…” Wonwoo paused. “I mentioned before that I want to break the curse someday. Don’t tell Seungcheol, but I think that’s my life goal. It’s painful to see both sides suffer. One day, I would like to talk to and meet a siren. Maybe together, we could find something out.”

“Honestly… that would be nice,” Mingyu whispered.

“Honestly? I’m glad that you agree with me; not many people do. All of the crew hates them. Except maybe Minghao, though I’m unsure why exactly.”

“Minghao is just a mysterious person in general to be honest… You don’t think he’s a former siren do you?” Mingyu asked.

Wonwoo straight up laughed, “Gyu, best not make those assumptions. I think you’ve heard too much today. I highly doubt he could be a former siren. We have known him for quite some time. He has spent most of his life on this ship.”

“Sorry, I keep saying random stuff.”

“And I feel like I need to keep telling you to stop saying sorry.”

“Do I say it that often?”

“Yes. Yes, you do.” Mingyu opened his mouth to say something, but Wonwoo quickly cut him off before he could say it. “And for the love of the seas, please do not say sorry about that.”

“Was it that obvious that was what I was going to say?”

“At least you recognized that,” Wonwoo said amused. “We should probably get back to work. We need to make it to shore before morning.”

“That, and we don’t want Seungcheol up our asses about how unproductive we are.”

“Mingyu, he is still talking to Jeonghan.”

Still? There’s no way…” They laughed together.

• .·:*¨* ≈☆≈ *¨*:·. •

Wonwoo had resumed his position at the helm for about an hour now, and he found it rather peaceful. Yet, deep down, something felt a bit off to him. Wonwoo trusted his gut and swiftly left the helm to quickly go to find Mingyu. He didn’t make it very far, because ironically Mingyu wasn’t too far from him. As Wonwoo called him over, Mingyu shouted back, “Hey! Great timing, hyung. I actually wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Actually, me too. It’s… important. But, you go first.”

“I wanted to talk about something important too! I was wondering… why does it seem so… stormy out in the distance?” Mingyu asked, “We weren’t expecting any storms or bad weather on today’s voyage, were we? Only the strong winds that you warned me about.”

“No, we weren’t. Oddly enough, that’s kind of what I wanted to talk to you about. Not necessarily the stormy weather, but I had this gut feeling something was wrong,” Wonwoo answered truthfully, “I take it that it is indeed the storm on the horizon.”

“I’m not too sure why there’s a storm brewing. To be completely honest, it’s giving me the chills. A random storm? We have to go around that.”

“I’m not too sure myself, Min— Oh wait… fuck!” Wonwoo suddenly shouted, startling Mingyu who was standing next to him. He watched as Wonwoo bolted away from him and rushed quickly back to the helm, desperately grabbing the wheel in sheer panic. “God… Seungcheol and Jeonghan are going to kill us,” he breathed, “And probably Junhui and Minghao too… oh my god. It’s all over for us.”

Mingyu stood there dumbfounded for a second before finally walking over to him and breaking his silence, “Wonwoo, what’s wrong? Did you find out about the storm within a span of ten seconds? Why are you panicking?”

“Because I completely forgot… I was so occupied in my thoughts earlier. When I left you at the helm to steer for like fifteen minutes… The winds were so strong that the small direction change from earlier… it led us right on direction to the Sea of Storms!” Wonwoo cried.

“What?!” Mingyu screamed. For the second time that day, Mingyu cursed endlessly. “Oh my god, this is all my fault… Fuck, fuck, fu—”

“…Mingyu. We need to calm down. Go and alert everyone on board. Try to get Junhui here first, so he can steer while I warn Seungcheol. We can’t leave the helm unattended…”

Mingyu gave a swift panicked nod, and ran off to the quarters of the ship. Wonwoo felt like he was going to die. Wonwoo was genuinely too frightened to think. Within minutes, they would reach the Sea of Storms— the sea of no survivors, as it was nicknamed. While Mingyu warned the others, Wonwoo desperately fought with the turning and the wheel, but the winds were too strong, and continued to pull the ship toward the ill-fated sea. In the midst of Wonwoo’s desperation, Mingyu’s voice stood out against it, “Wonwoo! I got Junhui and Minghao!”

“Oh, thank the seas. Junhui, you need to take over the wheel for now. I promise I’ll explain everything later!” Wonwoo shouted while running away, leaving Junhui and Minghao both in confusion. Under his breath, Wonwoo cursed, “God, I hope there’s a later.”

Wonwoo knew exactly where he could find Seungcheol and Jeonghan. Wonwoo made his way to his Captain’s quarters, and banged on the door immediately upon reaching his destination. “Seungcheol! Jeonghan! Open the door! There’s an emergency!” He shouted and screamed, but Wonwoo wasn’t sure if he was being ignored or if they straight up didn’t hear him. Wonwoo honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Seungcheol didn’t believe him. The amount of times that the crew had some kind of ‘emergency’ and wasn’t even serious was too many times to count. It was mainly Mingyu and Soonyoung’s shenanigans though, and maybe Chan’s too sometimes. Wonwoo regretted those ‘emergencies’ now. “Please! It’s actually an emergency guys! We are heading toward the Sea of Storms!”

“We are what?” Wonwoo stumbled as the door opened under his hands. In front of him was Seungcheol, looking rather angry. “Look Wonwoo. If this is one of your pranks, I am going to end you here and now.”

“Seungcheol, sir. It is not a prank, and it’s not even me who pranks people! That’s Soonyoung and Mingyu. Please, you have to come to the deck now,” Wonwoo was basically on his hands and knees begging him to believe him.

“At least get Junhui or Minghao here to verify the claims. You’ve been hanging out with Mingyu a lot more than you used to,” he retorted.

“Fine. I’ll get Junhui. You better listen to him.” Wonwoo scrambled up from the floor, and saw Seungcheol had closed the door on him. Ignoring that, swiftly, he made his way back to the deck. Upon arrival, Wonwoo wanted to throw up. The clear blue skies above him had shifted into a deep shade of midnight. If Wonwoo didn’t know, he’d say it was nightfall.

“Junhui…” Wonwoo panted, sprinting up to him .

“Jeon Wonwoo. What the fuck did you do?” Minghao didn’t even let Junhui answer Wonwoo. He was pissed.

Mingyu cut Minghao off before he could say anything else. “No! I-It's not Wonwoo’s fault. It’s mine. I-I wasn’t paying attention at the helm earlier… W-We ended up spending around 15 minutes southbound with strong winds. That offset ended sending us… here.”

“Kim Mingyu, you—” Minghao was quickly interrupted by Junhui.

“We’ll take anger out later!” Junhui argued.

“If there even is a later!” Minghao shouted over him.

“There won’t be a later if one of you guys don’t go and convince Seungcheol that there’s an actual problem!” Wonwoo yelled at the top of his lungs. “He thinks it’s a stupid prank.”

“Oh my god— fuck his stubbornness sometimes… I’ll go,” Junhui assured everyone. Wonwoo watched as Junhui briskly ran down the stairs and towards Seungcheol’s quarters. Wonwoo stole a glance at Minghao and quickly looked away before he noticed. He was still angry…very much so. Wonwoo started toward the wheel again, but Minghao pushed him away before he could even lay hands on it.

“No. I’ll take care of it from here, Wonwoo. You need to get everyone here on deck.”

“Yes, Minghao,” he responded. He knew it was the best thing he could do right now anyways. “Gyu, come with me.” Mingyu didn’t hesitate for a moment.

Wonwoo immediately booked it to the rest of the crew’s quarters, Mingyu right behind him. They flew down a flight of stairs, Mingyu almost tripping and causing a scene as well. Within a minute, they reached the first of two rooms— Hansol and Chan’s.

“Hansol! Chan! Wake up if you’re sleeping, and get out on the deck now! We are approaching the Sea of Storms and need all hands on deck for this!” Wonwoo screamed at the door while smacking it. Hansol unsurprisingly answered the door.

What?” Wonwoo was breathless, but let out a small nod. Hansol understood the cue. “Shit. Come on, Chan! We need to go now!”

“I’m coming, I’m coming!” He heard the whines behind Hansol, but Wonwoo couldn’t afford more time to stay. Abandoning Mingyu, Wonwoo just sprinted down another flight of stairs, reaching the bottom floor, and Kwon Soonyoung’s room.

“Soonyoung! Get out of bed now! We are in the Sea of Storms, and we all need to be on board!” Wonwoo cried. After no response, Wonwoo opened the door himself, seeing it was unlocked, and spotted Soonyoung somehow sleeping peacefully despite the chaos and screaming all over the ship. Wonwoo hesitated, but grabbed Soonyoung and shook him awake aggressively.

“Wonwoo… What is it? I’m sleepy…”

“Soonyoung, we are going to perish in the Sea of Storms if you don’t wake up and assist the rest of the crew! It’s getting bad out there!”

“Huh? H-How did we end up there?”

“We don’t have time for this, come on!” Wonwoo dragged Soonyoung by the arm and Soonyoung ultimately woke up, shaking himself from Wonwoo’s strong grasp on him. The two of them made their way to the top deck but not without hundreds of questions from Soonyoung. When they arrived on deck, everyone else including Seungcheol and Jeonghan were waiting. Wonwoo let out a huge sigh of relief, thankful that they listened to Junhui at least. Unfortunately, if they survived this whole endeavor, Wonwoo and Mingyu were still probably as good as dead for even leading them into the Sea of Storms in the first place.

Wonwoo made his way over to Seungcheol, head down, to avoid both his gaze and the sickening dark sky. But before he even made it over, a deep, loud roar of thunder was heard, the sound alone shaking the boat and sending Mingyu and Chan into panic.

“Brace yourself! The lighting strikes next!” Junhui screeched into the sky.

Wonwoo knew it was coming. He knew it was coming, but he didn’t know it would strike this close. Within not even a quarter mile, the seemingly bright lightning loudly struck the raging water, sending electricity through the water. Wonwoo knew he was dead if he fell in. Amidst the panic, Seungcheol shouted. Somehow despite all of the chaos happening , hearing Seungcheol calmed him down inside.

“Junhui, you take the wheel. You know what to do right?” He commanded.

“Yes, sir. I do. Steer at an angle to the wind.”

“Minghao, work on trying to put up storm sails. We aren’t at the worst of the sea yet. We may be able to get one up before the worst gets us.” Seungcheol suggested.

“On it, Captain.”

“Soonyoung, Chan. Find enough ropes. We need nine of them and maybe extras if any snap…We can’t have anyone going overboard.”

“We got it, Seungcheol!”

“…Wonwoo, Hansol, Mingyu. When they return with ropes, start tying them around everyone's waist and the masts or other secure objects. It’ll make sure we don’t go overboard.”

“Yes, sir. We’ll do our best.”

“Finally, Jeonghan. You just stay safe please…”

“No, Seungcheol. This is our crew. I want to help too,” Jeonghan insisted.

Wonwoo noticed the light tension between the two of them, but decided it would be best if he abstained from getting involved with the two of them.

“But, Hannie… What if we somehow had the misfortune of getting separated? What would we do then?” Seungcheol cried, much to Jeonghan’s annoyance.

“That’s not going to happen, Cheol. Let me help.”

“…Help Hao with the storm sail then.”

“Yes, Captain. I will.”

• .·:*¨* ≈☆≈ *¨*:·. •

Despite everything going on around him physically, Wonwoo was surprised to see success from Seungcheol’s planning. Minghao and Jeonghan were able to get one storm sail up. Soonyoung and Chan found probably a hundred ropes from who knows where, and together he, Mingyu, and Hansol fastened everyone to something secure. Junhui was doing well at the helm with the steering as well. Wonwoo’s thought process was soon cut off though, broken by Junhui’s panicked shout.

“Fuck! We don’t have control anymore! The waves are too high and the winds are pulling in the opposite direction of what we need!”

“So suddenly? Is this sea cursed?” Mingyu asked.

“I mean no one’s survived, Mingyu! We’re probably next!” Soonyoung shouted.

“Don’t tell me that!”

“Stop arguing! We have more fucking pressing matters at hand right now!” Junhui screamed at the two of them. Wonwoo was thankful for him sometimes. “We need to— holy shit!” Junhui was cut off by a loud smash, quickly realizing what just happened. “Seungcheol!” He cried, “We just hit a rock! There’s definitely water leaking in… and fast! I already feel the balance of the boat being off-set!”

“Fuck… I-I don’t know what to do! I’ve never experienced anything like this!” Jeonghan laid a hand on him, trying his best to calm him down despite the circumstances.

“We trust you, Seungcheol! We’ll follow your word no matter what!” Junhui assured.

“I— We need to jump. We need to get off the ship. This… It's the end for The Serenity. We need to ensure our survival. Cut the ropes, and jump in.”

“Look Seungcheol, I trust you! But, how will jumping into the sea solve anything? We will still drown in these raging waters!” Minghao fought.

“Better that than to be roped to the mast and get stuck there and drown that way! At least we can swim, that’s our hope. We can survive this…”

“Alright. I’ll follow your lead.”

“We need to hurry guys! The sails and masts won’t hold up much longer! They aren’t stable at all! They could break any second now!” Junhui called.

Seungcheol glanced at Jeonghan, who nodded at him. “Alright, let’s go.”

Seungcheol suddenly grabbed his blade and promptly sliced Hansol and Chan’s ropes first. Hansol stared at him blankly, mouth agape. “A-Are we jumping first?” Hansol stammered. Seungcheol nodded swiftly.

“You’re jumping together… and I’m jumping last. If the ship comes down before I jump, then at least I went down with it. You guys need to stay alive for me.”

“What? But we’re a crew! Seungcheol, you can’t ju—” Chan couldn’t even finish his sentence before a massive lightning bolt struck the bowsprit, setting the front of the ship ablaze, sending Chan into a panic.

“Go now!” He shouted; Ultimately, Chan and Hansol listened, meeting the cold sea feet first. “Wonwoo, Mingyu, Jeonghan. Now!” Seungcheol cut their ropes. Wonwoo and Mingyu didn’t hesitate for a second and jumped, but Jeonghan stayed put right where he was. “Jeonghan, go now!” He growled.

“I’m not leaving you alone here! You’re the one who was afraid we’d get separated!”

Seungcheol silently cursed. Jeonghan was right, but more than anything, he just wanted him to be safe and sound. To Seungcheol’s surprise, Jeonghan drew his blade out and slit Junhui and Minghao’s ropes. “You guys, go now! We’ll follow!”

Junhui was visually nervous. “I-I… Hao!”

“I’m with you, Jun! We must go now!” Minghao exclaimed.

Junhui took one last look at the boat that defined his childhood… the blaze spreading closer, the water leak… “I’m sorry, Serenity. I’m sorry Hao and I weren’t able to save you…” Minghao held Junhui tightly and together, they jumped, landing right next to everyone else, keeping each other afloat amongst the waves and the downpour.

“Go, Hannie! I’ll follow! I promise!” Seungcheol begged.

Jeonghan was about to give in to Seungcheol’s request when he felt a strange shift in the ship’s stature. All of a sudden, a monstrous wave struck the ship, flipping it to the other side, and cracking the mast in half, right in the trajectory of him and Seungcheol. Seungcheol tried his best to react and save Jeonghan, but Jeonghan acted quicker. “I’m sorry, Cheol. I have to do this.” Without even thinking, Jeonghan slices Seungcheol’s rope, much to his sobs, and pushes him into the cold water, just as the mast falls onto his back, knocking him into the water unable to swim up… “I love you, Cheol…”

Seungcheol and the rest of the crew tries to reach for Jeonghan as he sinks, but are unable to. “Jeonghan! Hannie! No! No! Fuck! No, Hannie!” Seungcheol’s sobs echoed through the dark skies. His lonely, desperate cries pleading to the sea and the sky.

• .·:*¨* ≈☆≈ *¨*:·. •

Jeonghan didn’t regret a thing during his life. Saving Seungcheol was the best choice he made. Jeonghan finally let his eyes slip close as he sank further and further into the ocean, slowly losing his consciousness. Maybe we can meet again, love…
