Chapter Text
One winter morning a pink haired student decides to skip a few classes, "it's not like they'd learn anything much from it anyways", they thought to themselves as they walked up the stairs leading to the school rooftop.
"Yo, Mizuki, skipping history class again?" A voice asked them from right behind them, causing them to jump up just like a cat hearing a loud noise.
"Geez Rui you scared the crap outta me!" They responded despite not answering the initial question. A chuckle could be heard from the purple haired student now walking beside Mizuki.
"Sorry, anyway it's cold today, you sure you're okay without a jacket?" Mizuki was surprised until they opened the rooftop door, only then did they realise how cold it actually was. Rui then sighed and wrapped a blanket he brought around Mizuki's shoulders.
"Thanks." Said Mizuki as they warmed up inside the blanket. "Wait, why do you even have a blanket on you?" quickly noticing this odd detail. "I just bring it for cold winter days like these." Rui answered as he walked up to the fence and overlooked the school.
"I'm surprised it hasn't snowed yet, that's probably why the school hasn't gone into winter break yet." he said, still looking over the school. "It's only the 20th of December..Oh right, Christmas is right around the corner."
They had planned to come to terms with their feelings and confess to their only close friend, Rui, on Christmas day.
"Any plans on Christmas?" asked Rui, " Maybe we could do something?" Although it took a while for Mizuki to respond, they eventually did "No plans, I guess we could do something." They looked slightly flustered. Maybe they wished that Rui had seen how flustered they were and take it as a hint, but they quickly brushed away the thought.
"It's set then, we're going to the aquarium." "Why the aquarium..?" Mizuki questioned Rui on this particular detail. "Well, just because?" Rui answers. Despite Mizuki being quite frustrated with Rui's response they couldn't really bring themself to hate him. A sigh could be heard from Rui.
"Well, I'm going back now, I have a math quiz next period."
Mizuki is now only within the company of their own thoughts. With a slightly saddened face Mizuki looked down from the rooftop, but unlike Rui, they were thinking of something more depressing. "I guess I can't escape these horrible thoughts."
Mizuki sighs and takes a seat, their back facing the fence, with the intent of napping, they close their eyes.
Passage of time seems to be completely nonsensical when one is sleeping and sometimes it may seem like a short time despite a massive amount of time passing by, For Mizuki they felt like no amount of time had passed,
-the next thing they knew they woke up with Rui sitting beside them, seemily spacing out as he stared into the evening sky shrouded with clouds. "Oh, you're awake? How was your nap?"
"It was nice-" That was a lie. "-when did you come back up here?"
"A little over two hours ago, school already ended though."
"Eh?? It's 5 pm ?! Why did you stay for this long?" Mizuki exclaimed loudly,
-Rui never really answered, instead he just sat there without saying a word, perhaps the reason as to why he stayed until Mizuki had awoken was something he doesn't know.
"Well we should go home now.." Said Mizuki along with them walking to the door and opening it.
"You go first, I need some time to think." Mizuki then exits the school rooftop, while Rui stays for a little while.
