Prompt:
Tae is a scientist who is working on ways to help gay couples have children. His crush/roommate Seokjin brings him lunch one day and mistakes the glass of fertility inducer next to him to be Fanta and downs it all.

DW: horrified Tae having to explain to Seokjin he's just impregnated himself with Tae's baby, over the top scenes of humor and silliness

DNW: first person, hurt between Taejin

Work Text:

Tae could hardly stare at the monitor where Namjoon was showing a simulation of what could happen. The lead researcher’s face was stern and grave. Tae was getting redder each minute and wanted to die and wished the ground would swallow him up. Another researcher, Hobi was making little exclamations under his breath, making Tae more anxious.

“Preg-XY613 will mix with the subject’s DNA and—make no mistake—IT WILL alter his reproductive system. It could be as quick as an overnight change--”

The video showed a male’s pelvis expanding in size, making room for new organs.

“Or it could take several days. Soon a womb will grow inside him to support the embryos frozen with the compound.”

“Fuck fuck fuck.” Hobi whispered.

Tae crossed his arms. He’d only been their assistant for a month now, but he knew some things about their research.

“Well, maybe nothing will happen.” He said, trying to hide the tremble in his voice. “I mean, you’ve never been able to make any of this work so far.”

Namjoon breathed in to calm himself. “Let’s hope that’s the case. But we used your sperm on this one. Maybe you got strong stuff. Who knows if that will make a difference?”

Tae shook his head, a growing feeling of dread inside him. “No no no nothing will happen. We just—this batch was just a minor experiment, right? We probably got the mixture all wrong.”

“Well, we can’t just sit around waiting if it works or not. You need to do round the clock observation on him.” Hobi said, now pacing back and forth. He pulled something out of his lab coat pocket, a white stick with markers.

“You need to make him get a pregnancy test.”

Taehyung groaned. The troubled sound echoed in the lab, mixing with the beeps and ticks of their instruments. He nodded and walked over to Hobi, dragging as if his feet weighed a thousand pounds. He took the stick and put it in his bag.

“Keep us informed.”

Well, shit. Taehyung said to himself.

Taehyung figured it was all his fault.

If only he didn’t stay up late last night, secretly masturbating to Seokjin who was streaming an online game. He couldn’t help it. His roommate’s moans and screams while playing makes his libido boiling hot. He watched him until 2am when Seokjin fell asleep in the middle of his stream.

If only he didn’t get up so late next morning, that he was rushing everything and he forgot his lunch.

If only he wasn’t so careless in the lab and putting Preg-XY613 next to his Fanta.

If only he wasn’t so flustered that Seokjin brought him his lunch. As always, he could hardly speak around him, with his heart pounding a mile a minute. He was so surprised seeing him, standing there with his small bag of food that Taehyung just blurted out thanks and turned his back on him pretending to work on something. He was being an idiot so he didn’t realize how thirsty Seokjin was because Jungkook dared him to run all the way from the apartment to the lab.

Seokjin had already left when Taehyung realized he drank the whole bottle of Preg-XY613—enzymes, membranes, embryos and all.

If only he wasn’t so fucking careless, he wouldn’t be here tonight, trying to get Hobi’s pregnancy results.

It’s Friday night and the three of them were lounging on the floor. The two were surprised that Taehyung joined their little game tonight.

“Okay, I dare you—do a headstand for one minute!” Jin demanded to Jungkook.

“What? That’s it!?”

The two brothers were always going at it, even back at their hometown. The three of them had been neighbors back home. Their parents were friends but as kids, they were friendly but not that close. Taehyung kept to himself, always busy studying and all the advanced classes he was taking. The two brothers was more social and moved in a different circle than him.

No one knew of his hidden desire for Jin.

“Taehyungie—watch this—” Jin said, winking at him. Taehyung’s heart did a backflip just then.

Jin crawled to where Jungkook was doing a handstand against the wall and twisted his nipples. Jungkook cursed at him and fell down hard on the floor.

“Fucker you’ll pay for that!”

When their parents found out Taehyung was transferring university and could barely afford housing, they immediately offered a room in Jin and JK's apartment. He thought he’d gotten over him. It had been a couple of years since he’s last seen him. But that was unfortunately not going to happen. He was still head over heels—and it has now gotten worse over time. Seeing him everyday, getting to know him better, talking to him, seeing him get out of the shower in just a towel—it just makes him fall deeper and deeper into him.

“Okay it’s MY TURN!” Jungkook declared. There was an evil smile on his face as he looked at his brother. Taehyung looked at Jin and his playful expression turned serious. They were looking at each other as if they knew what the other was thinking. Jin shook his head.

“Don’t even think about it.” Jin said in a low voice.

Jungkook ignored him. “I DARE YOU TO—KISS TAE!”

Taehyung blinked. Did he just say what he heard him say?”

Jin punched his brother lightly in the arm, making his younger brother laugh harder.

“Come on don’t scare Taehyungie. It’s his first time doing this, he might not join us again—”

“I-I mean. It’s okay.” Tae said quickly, finding the shining bit of courage inside him and shooting his shot before his tongue gets all tied up.

“WHAT!?” Jungkook looked at him, eyes bigger than usual, a growing smile on his face.

Tae shrugged, cheeks growing warm. “It’s just a game right—no big deal.”

The brothers looked at each other. Jin was quiet.

“I mean—if it’s okay with you—” Tae started.

“Y-Yeah it’s fine with me. I’ll kiss your cheek, whatever.” Jin said, shrugging and crawling towards him.

Jungkook’s loud laughter filled the room. He was clapping his hands like a small child that won a game.

Jin’s face was serious, determined to do the dare. Tae looked down on the floor, waiting for him like a prey about to be devoured. He can’t look at his face or else he might cream his pants. He kept his mind on Preg-XY613, trying to fight off the growing erection in his pants.

A quick soft peck fell on his cheek and before he knew it, it was over.

Jungkook was cheering them on like an insane person.

Taehyung pursed his lips to keep himself from smiling. He felt like he was going to explode.

“Alright it’s Taehyungie’s turn.” Jin said loudly over the ruckus.

“Ask him to kiss you again!” Jungkook said excitedly.

“Shut up!” Jin said.

Fuck if only I could, Tae thought.

“Okay, um hyung.” He looked at Jin and Jin leaned forward in attention. “I dare you—I dare you to fill this bottle with your pee hyung.”

He held up a collection bottle he sneaked out of the lab. It looked like a bottle of coke but it’s actually made of high-grade material and top of the line seal that could preserve a sample for days.

“Come on think of something harder guys.” Jin said, taking the bottle and going to the toilet to pee.

Later that night the guys were asleep, except for Tae.

The pee bottle had rolled under the couch. He got on all fours and reached under to pull it out. He went to his room, opened it and dipped the pregnancy stick on it.

“Holy fuck this is amazing.”

“Ohh daebak!”

The two scientists were going out of their minds seeing the positive result on the pregnancy stick. They’ve been on this research for almost five years now and it’s the first time they were able to achieve something like this.

“It could be a false positive.” Tae said, hoping against hope that the results were wrong.

Namjoon’s smile faded. It is possible. They had something like this happen several times.

“Well you have to do the test again.”

“What? No!”

“What do you mean, No? There’s a battery of tests we have to do. We have to keep the subject safe, we don’t want a miscarriage. We have to see the development of the fetus and the changes in his body—you know what,” Namjoon said, pushing his glasses up his nose. “You have to bring him in. Maybe keep him safe in this lab, the university will pay—”

“NO!”

“YES!”

The party was just starting when Tae arrived at their apartment. Jin was busy in the kitchen, preparing tteokbokki and corndogs. Several people were already in the living room, setting up the music and playing some games.

Well, he looks fine, Tae thought, observing him.

“Hyung, that smells good.” He said approaching Jin. He put his arm around him, resting his hand near Jin’s neck, trying to check for fever.

Jin suddenly flinched at the touch but smiled widely when he realized it was Tae.

“Hey, yeah thanks.”

He put his hand on Jin’s forehead. “You okay hyung? You look a little unwell? You feel dizzy? Fever? Nausea? Any aches or pains?”

Tae felt a little flip-flop from his heart at how close they were. He’d never touched Jin like this before. Jin’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“What are you going on about? I’m fine Taehyungie.”

“Oh okay.”

Tell him! Tell him!

An image of Namjoon and Hobi’s face came to his mind. He pushed them away. He was definitely not ready for that conversation.

“If you feel anything just, you can call me. I’ll—well because you see I’m a bio student and we have like first aid classes today—so—”

Jin grinned at him. He was busy mixing more batter for the corndogs. “Yeah sure. Hey, join the party okay? Don’t go hiding in your room.”

“HYUNG!” two guys ran into the kitchen and suddenly wrapped their arms around Jin. They raised him from the ground and attempted to throw him in the air like a baby.

“Hey fuckers!” Jin screeched, laughing with the guys.

Panic descended on Tae as he watched Jin struggling and being manhandled between the guys.

“Stop! Stop! STOP IT! YOU MIGHT HURT HIM!” Tae screamed, as he pushed the guys away.

The guys dropped Jin to the ground and they all looked at Tae in confusion.

He smiled helplessly at them and shrugged. “Just looking out for you, hyung.” He said, laughing nervously.

Tae kept an eye on Jin the whole night. He was pretty busy in the kitchen which was a relief—until one of the guests pulled him out. Tae kept close. He sat on a corner, pretending to play a game on his phone.

His phone suddenly rang. It was Hobi.

“Hey have you told him yet?”

“No. Look I’ll see you in the morning okay.”

“Wait—are you---are you having a party?”

“Hey smoking’s not allowed in here.” He said sternly to a guy who just came in with a cigarette in his mouth.

“Asshole.” The guy muttered and went towards the window to blow his smoke.

“Who’s smoking!? Hey where are you? How’s the subject!?”

Hobi passed the phone to Namjoon but Tae couldn’t focus on what he was saying. More guests arrived and two of them were going over to Jin.

“Hyung we haven’t seen you all night!”

Tae turned to see Yoongi from two doors down the hall. He was carrying a bottle of whiskey while Jimin had glasses. Jimin gave one to Jin.

“Come one let’s drink!”

Fuck!

“No!”

Tae threw the phone down and ran towards them. He jumped as Jin was about to bring the shot glass to his lips and swatted it away from Jin’s hand. It flew towards the cupboards and shattered, spilling alcohol and broken glass everywhere. It was a miracle, no one was hit. Several guests turned towards them, shouted curses at them.

“What the fuck!? Tae!?” Jin said. He shouted apologies to the others and signaled Jungkook to help clean up.

“Y-You shouldn’t drink, hyung!”

“What?”

Tae grabbed the whisky. “Promise me you won’t drink!”

“Tae what’s wrong? Why are you acting like this!?”

“Hey man, you’re not his mother.”

Tae looked back at them, their faces full of anger and confusion. He felt trapped and his brain was not working.

“Relax Tae, I think you need a drink yourself.” Jin said taking the whisky from him.

“Hyung, if you get drunk, there’s no one else who can calm this party down if it gets rowdy.” He said. It sounded all stupid in his head, but somehow his voice made Jin put the bottle down.

“Right. I guess I need to be the designated grown-up here.”

“Right.”

Jimin rolled his eyes and grabbed the vodka back. “Fine.”

“Here I saved you a bottle of water.” Tae said, grinning shyly and blushing at how Jin listened to him and followed him.

When he got back to his seat, the call had ended but Namjoon sent him a text.

We’re coming over, it said.

“What are they doing here?” Jin asked Jungkook, nodding towards the two guys that Tae was talking to.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. “They’re his friends. Don’t tell me you’re jealous.”

“I’m not! I just—I thought they just worked together in the lab. I didn’t know they were close.”

He watched as the three men huddled in a corner. They seemed to be arguing. Tae was motioning his hands a lot, while the others were shaking their heads. He tried to listen better if he can make out what they’re saying but the music was too loud.

“I think they’re fighting. I think they’re ganging up on Tae.”

“Leave them alone, hyung.”

Before Jungkook knew it, Jin was across the room. He grabbed the shoulder of the taller guy and turned him around.

“Is there a problem here?”

Tae looked shocked that Jin was there. The other two looked at each other, unsure of what to say.

“Actually there is—” Hobi started.

“No! Hyung, we’re just talking science—” Tae said in a panic.

Namjoon said something, but Jin couldn’t hear it over the music.

“WHAT?”

Jungkook motioned to Jimin to turn it down.

“I SAID THE SCIENCE OF HOW WE BRED YOU WITH TAE’S SPERM!”

Everyone looked at them with confused expressions. Tae wanted to just slowly back away, open the door, run away and never come back. Namjoon cleared his throat before he could do any of that.

“—which is obviously a joke we say in the lab.”

Hobi laughed awkwardly.

Taehyung laughed with him and punched Jin in the arm. “Get it hyung? We bred you with my sperm!” he said.

Jin’s ears were getting redder each minute from embarrassment. But what made him more embarrassed was that the thought of him pregnant with Tae’s baby—wasn’t actually as unpleasant as he expected—or even funny. It made him feel warm and protective.

He just smiled and shook his head. They were obviously discussing something serious and not this joke they were talking about.

Everyone laughed though and turned back to what they were doing.

Namjoon and Hobi nodded at each other. They were watching Jin closely, observing how he reacted—and it looks he can handle it.

Hobi leaned in and whispered in Jin’s ear. “Seriously we’re talking about how you accidentally got bred with Tae’s baby.”

Jin looked at him, shocked and speechless.

“Meet us tomorrow at the lab.”

Jin showed up in the lab first thing in the morning. The three researchers were there and they led him to another room so they can talk.

They explained to him what Preg-XY613 is and how he ingested it. Jin was in disbelief, his hands trembling, his fingers massaging his temples. Last night he was partying with friends, planning his graduation, starting to apply for a job outside of uni. Now in just a blink of an eye his life has changed. Suddenly, he didn’t know what will happen to him in the future.

“You will be compensated generously as you carry this baby to term. We will need you to stay in the lab. You will also have your own room here, free food, internet, books, whatever you need we can provide. In return, we will observe you. Changes will happen to your body and in the end you will give birth—”

“From my ass!?”

“No we’ll do caesarean.”

“Oh.” Relief immediately replaced the worried look on his face.

They placed a small green bottle in front of him.

“It’s still very early in the process. If you do not want to go through this at all, you can drink this. It will stop anything from happening. You will still receive compensation—for all your troubles and because of the accident. You don’t have to decide now but you need to drink this within three days if you do not wish to proceed.”

Jin took the bottle and looked at it closely. The green solution sloshed around, reminding him of the yellow drink that he imbibed when he last visited this lab. Visitors weren’t allowed back then but when Tae opened the door he pushed himself in because the room was so cold and he was so hot from running outside. He looked at Tae. He looked so worried and handsome, Jin had to bite his cheek to keep from smiling.

“This is yours too, Tae, are you okay with having a baby with a man? I mean, I actually don’t mind being a dad and I can take care of him on my own. I just want to know what you’re thinking.”

Tae smiled at him and it was like the sun shining through rain clouds.

“I’m actually looking forward to holding the baby in my arms, hyung.”

Jin’s room in the lab was exactly what he requested. A high power expensive gaming computer, huge ergonomic chair, well-stocked fridge and a king-sized bed. The walls were painted a clean fresh white and a big glass window showed a view of the university outside.

The first week, everyone was busy helping him move here. Jungkook brought most of his things, ran errands and filed papers for him. They rented Jin’s room to Jimin for the meantime. When at last Jin had settled, they had the first round of tests on him.

“Blood pressure normal, heartbeat normal. I found traces of estrogen and hCG.” said Tae.

He asked Namjoon and Hobi if he can be the one to do the tests each time. They have agreed to work on shifts, but Tae had been staying a lot at the lab these past few nights. He took a break from his classes and he hardly went back to the apartment. He even bought a small folding bed and would sleep in the corner outside of Jin’s room.

They’d talk a lot. At first, Tae told him about the challenges they had with Preg-XY613. How Namjoon had to sleep with a very rich lady to get her to sponsor the research. How Hobi almost quit and shifted to the Arts because he was so tired of getting failed results over and over. How he, himself, started, what he learned so far, what are his plans for the future.

Jin would tell him stories from their old neighborhood, things that Tae missed out because he was busy studying. How Jungkook and him grew up, his family, Tae’s family. Why he took up Statistics of all things (he likes measuring things), where he’s going to go after all these.

They would usually play games, one time he even joined Jin’s live stream. One thing they would argue about is how late Jin stays up. Tae was shocked to learn that he wouldn’t sleep for days just to finish a game. He would hardly eat too. He had to unplug everything just to get him to sleep.

“The baby needs you to be healthy, hyung. That means sleeping well and eating on time.” Tae said sternly, as he turned off the wifi.

“You asshole, I was going to turn it off just give me five minutes!”

“You said that an hour ago!”

Months went by and Jin became moodier and hormonal. He’d cry and get sick in the mornings and Tae would be there to help him, giving him some tea and biscuits. He’d look in the mirror and exclaim how he’s no longer Worldwide Handsome and be so ashamed to show himself on his stream. He had gained some weight and was already showing around the belly. Tae brought him new clothes and helped find him a better angle to hide everything since they need to keep it a secret.

There are days when Jin would freak out over the changes on his body.

“Hyung are you okay? I need to check your stats.” Tae said, knocking softly on the bathroom door. “You’ve been there for a more than an hour now.”

“Taehyungie I’m so ugly.” Jin said, crying on the other side.

“What? No hyung—”

“Tell me the truth—”

The door opened slightly. Tae stepped inside, head down, afraid of what he would see.

“Tell me the truth—”

Tae lifted his head and blinked. Jin was standing in front of him, with no clothes on. His belly was full and round and almost hid his flaccid cock. His breasts have also developed and was now as large as melons. His hips became wider, and his butt was actually bigger. His eyes were swollen from crying, his hair tousled as if he was pulling on it out of frustration.

It was the first time for Tae to see him naked. He felt so horny, he quickly thought of Namjoon and Hobi kissing to stop himself from getting a hard on. He smiled gently at Jin, keeping himself at a distance, trying to resist hugging and kissing his hyung.

“You look gorgeous, hyung. You have that pregnant glow about you.”

Jin looked at him, unsure whether to believe him or not. “Yeah?” he asked, wiping the tears in his eyes so he can see Tae clearly. He looked handsome as always, with that huge goofy boxy smile on his face. He felt relief as the weight in his heart got lighter.

“Yes. You are and will always be worldwide handsome.”

Jin smiled back. He took the bathrobe hanging by the side and put it on. “I’m sorry for dumping this on you. Psychiatrist was out sick today. Sorry you saw me naked, I was spiraling—”

“No worries—I mean it’s not like I haven’t seen boobs or cock before. You want me to massage your feet? It will make you feel better.”

“Well I have a therapy session later but I’m not turning down more massages.”

“Okay but I just have to measure your stats quickly.”

Tae led him out of the bathroom. As they were walking, Tae received a tight hug from the back.

“Thank you, Tae.” Jin whispered, leaning his head on his back. It felt good to hug him. It felt good to feel his warmth against him. He could feel his mood getting even better as he smelled Tae's faint sweaty scent.

Tae jumped in surprise but smiled widely. A sweet flutter came over his heart and he squeezed Jin’s arms that were wrapped around his waist.

“Hyung, you’re doing so much for this research. I should be the one thanking you.”

Not everyday is sunshine and roses though. There were also days when both of them were frustrated.

“Why why did you eat it!”

Jin was on the floor surrounded with food and yet he was mad at Tae for eating the leftover jokbal that Jimin left at the apartment.

“Hyung—that was my lunch?”

Jin sobbed. He looked so cute sitting on his bed, in his onesie pajama that showed off his huge baby bump. He grabbed a strawberry that Tae brought for him and started munching on it while tears flowed down his eyes. His cheeks had grown rounder and his body had become plump. Tae just wanted to squish him to death.

“This sucks!”

“What the hell did you do!?” Namjoon said, entering Jin’s room and eyeing the both of them. He noticed that Tae and Jin had grown awfully close these past months. He was worried this attachment might bring complications to Jin’s state and to their research.

“Um I got hungry and I ate my lunch?”

“You don’t understand. All you care about is you!” Jin said. He grabbed a bag of carrots and furiously munched on them.

“D-Do you want me to buy you jokbal?”

Jin rolled his eyes. “Uh YA!?”

Tae turned to Namjoon.

“What?”

“I don’t have any money.”

Namjoon sighed, took out his wallet and gave him cash.

“Buy me one too.”

Tae rushed to the canteen and bought two orders of jokbal. He was thirsty so he bought Chillsung Cider.

Jin was bouncing with joy when he got the jokbal, but he was eyeing Tae’s soda as well. Tae took a sip and could very clearly hear Jin whine. He bit his lip to avoid laughing.

“Hyung—”

“Yeah?” Jin said, looking down and focusing on munching the jokbal.

“Do you want this soda too?”

The pregnant man looked up at him with round eyes and a sweet smile. “Yes please?”

Tae sighed and gave up his drink to him.

They’d argue and fight but after that Namjoon and Hobi would catch a glimpse of them later in Jin’s room. Jin would be lying down, resting, and Taehyung would be beside him. They would be cooing and making funny sounds to the baby bump, sometimes even singing songs to it.

Jin’s due date finally arrived.

Everyone was calm and ready—except for Tae who was a nervous wreck. He barely slept the night before and he kept checking Jin’s stats. They brought him to the university’s hospital for the operation. Tae held his hand along the way.

The others were there, JK, Yoongi, Jimin. Namjoon and Hobi were busy setting up monitoring equipments in the room.

“We brought you some breakfast.” Jimin said, handing Tae a bag. “Dude, do you want to sleep? We can take over if there’s a need.”

“No!” Tae said. Everyone looked at him. He’s been pacing back and forth, outside the room. He wanted to be inside but only limited people were allowed. Only Namjoon and Hobi were accommodated.

“Sorry.” He said. He rubbed his temples. “I feel like I’m going to throw up.”

JK put his arm around him. “Relax, you checked him right? Everyone’s an expert in there. He’s in good hands. I can’t wait to meet my niece and nephew!”

Tae remembered when they had an ultrasound with last week. He felt such rush to discover that Jin was going to have twins. He cried when he saw his babies for the first time. Everyone teased him, including Jin—but he caught his hyung later, tearing up too.

After what seemed like forever, the doctor came out and allowed Tae and JK to enter the room.

When he saw Jin with two babies, one wrapped in pink and the other in blue, Tae broke down.

“Come here and hold them.” Jin said, sniffling too.

They looked at each other and smiled.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yes, a little numb but I’m fine.”

Tae awkwardly reached for the baby girl and placed her in his right arm. Then, Jin placed the boy on his other arm.

“I’m so scared I might drop them.”

“No you won’t.” Jin said giggling.

“They’re so small.”

“I think we should name this one Kookie.” Jungkook said, pointing at the girl.

“The other one should be Joon.” Namjoon interrupted.

“Hey how about me? One of them should be named Hoba.”

“No the boy will be named JK.” Jungkook insisted, taking the babies from Tae.

“That’s not a real name.”

“You can’t have both named after you!?”

While the others argued, Tae sneaked a quick kiss on Jin’s forehead. The other looked at him in surprise but pulled him down to kiss him on the cheek.

“We did good.” Jin said, whispering to him. “Thank you for helping me through this, Taehyungie.”

“What? We’re not done, hyung.” Tae said. “I want to raise these babies with you.”

Jin blinked, a worried look passing his face. “Are you sure?”

“Yes of course. We’re together in this. I—I really like you, hyung.”

Jin blushed and looked down. “I like you too, Tae. I liked you way before we had babies.” He said, giggling.

“What? Me too!” Tae searched for his hand and squeezed it. “I’ve always admired you, hyung—from a distance. Then I was just so happy to spend time with you in the lab.”

Tae bent down and this time planted a kiss on Jin’s lips. Jin can’t help but smile. It might be hormones but he could feel his heart overflowing with joy. He pulled him closer and wrapped his arms around his neck.
