Work Text:

Regulus Black sat alone in the dark, tears streaming down his face. He had always been the dutiful son, the one who followed in the footsteps of his family, but now he was paying the price for it. His parents had always been strict, but after Sirius left home, they turned their anger and frustration on him.

Regulus tried to hide the bruises and the cuts, but he knew he couldn't keep it up forever. He longed for his brother's comforting presence, the one who always seemed to understand him, but he knew that was impossible. Sirius had left him behind, and now he was alone.

One day, Regulus couldn't take it anymore. He wrote a letter to Sirius, pouring out his heart and telling him about the abuse he was suffering at the hands of their parents. He hoped that his brother would come back, that he would save him from this living nightmare.

But Sirius never responded. Regulus waited and waited, but the silence was deafening. He felt abandoned, forgotten, and alone.

As the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, Regulus sank deeper into despair. He tried to fight back, but he was no match for his parents' cruelty. They beat him, starved him, and left him locked in his room for days on end. Regulus knew that he couldn't take it anymore, that he had to escape.

So one night, he packed his few belongings and slipped out of the house. He knew he was risking everything, but he couldn't stay there any longer. He was terrified, alone, and heartbroken.

Regulus wandered the streets for days, sleeping in alleys and scrounging for food. He had nowhere to go, no one to turn to. He missed Sirius more than ever, wishing that he had never left home, that he had stayed and protected him.

But it was too late for that now. Regulus was on his own, and he had to find a way to survive. He hoped that one day he would see his brother again, that he would be able to tell him everything that had happened. But for now, he was just a lost and broken boy, trying to find his way in a cruel and unforgiving world.

Regulus Black stumbled through the streets, his body aching and his heart heavy with despair. He had been wandering for days, barely eating and barely sleeping. He didn't know where he was going or what he was doing, but he knew he couldn't go back to his parents' house. He was afraid for his life.
As he walked, he remembered the one person who might be able to help him.

James Potter, his brother's best friend. Regulus had never been close to James, but he knew that Sirius trusted him completely. Maybe James could help him, maybe he could give him a place to stay, a safe place away from his abusive family.

Regulus made his way to James' house, his heart pounding with fear and anticipation. He knocked on the door, unsure of what he would say, unsure of how he would explain himself.

James answered the door, his face registering surprise and concern as he saw the bruised and battered figure standing before him. "Regulus? What happened? Are you okay?"

Regulus shook his head, tears streaming down his face. "No, I'm not okay. I need your help. I need to talk to Sirius."

James nodded, his expression solemn. "Come inside. We'll talk about it."

Regulus sat in the living room, his hands shaking as he waited for Sirius to arrive. He didn't know how he was going to tell his brother what had happened, how he was going to explain why he had come to James' house.

When Sirius finally arrived, his face lit up with surprise and joy at the sight of his younger brother. But his expression quickly turned to concern as he saw the bruises on Regulus' face and the fear in his eyes.

"Reg, what happened? Are you hurt? Who did this to you?" Sirius demanded, his voice filled with anger and worry.

Regulus took a deep breath, tears streaming down his face. "It's Mom and Dad. They've been beating me. They're angry that you left. They blame me for everything. I didn't know where else to go. I'm sorry."

Sirius pulled his brother into a tight embrace, his eyes filled with tears. "You don't have to apologize, Reg. You did the right thing. You came to me. We'll take care of you. I promise."

From that moment on, Regulus stayed with James and Sirius, safe and protected from his abusive family. He slowly began to heal, both physically and emotionally, with the help of his brother and his brother's friends. He knew that he had made the right decision in coming to them, that he had finally found a family who would love and care for him, no matter what.
