Summary
Sammy only has a few goals in life. First, to keep her head down and exist under the radar to keep her past safely buried. Second, make enough money working in various coffeeshops to pay the rent on her shitty New York City apartment. Third, finally get to the Humane Society to adopt a cat. And fourth, try to avoid getting caught up in every robbery, violent crime, mugging, mafia hit, murder, Karen on a rampage, and supervillain plot to take over the world thanks to what has to be the worst luck in the existence of the universe.
At what point does a lifetime of bad luck point toward something more insidious like an honest-to-god curse? Probably about the time mutilated bodies start showing up. In hindsight, with her luck moving to a city full of superheroes and trying to stay unnoticed was not the best decision. Apparently neither was having a one-night stand with a ridiculously sexy supervillain, but how was she supposed to know the superhero community gossiped like teenage girls?
