Work Text:

The breeze that hit your skin in the tent was quite cold, but the presence of someone made it feel still quite warm.

You heard your companion Wanderer mutter something to you. His lifeless blue eyes glared at you somberly, and his dark blue hair got messed up by the air.

“What is it?” You say sincerely, in a comforting tone to make him feel better about whatever is bothering him.

Y-y/n.. he stutters trying to say your name properly, “You won’t betray me right? You’re.. my friend, right?”

Wanderer has always struggled to confess and express feelings, that’s because he’s just a mere puppet. He has lost his friends a lot of times, when he was still Kunikuzushi. But when he became Scaramouche, that was the start of his rebelling, it’s understandable though. Considering the fact he was “abandoned”, even though it was a misunderstanding between him and his creator, the electro archon, Raiden Ei decided to set him free because she thought that Kunikuzushi was too fragile as her puppet, and Kunikuzushi thought that he got disposed and abandoned.

Knowing his past, you would feel bad for him. You replied, “I won’t, I promise you.”

He still felt disbelief in your words, he knows that one day, again, like all of his other friends, you’ll be gone.

But he can’t take it, he doesn’t wanna lose anyone again, but he has to bear it. Even though Nahida is helping him through healing about his past, if he loses you..

It’ll all come back again.

It’ll all happen again.

His worst nightmare.

That is, and is the number one reason why he doesn’t want to get attached to the people he meets, but he completely failed when it came to you.

Now, he was holding your lifeless body in his soft arms. Your pale, cold, and bluish body he touched. He felt a huge sense of betrayal again.

“I knew it.” He said to himself as tears stained his puffy cheeks. He bit his lip feeling the biggest betrayal ever.

“You broke the promise.”

“You broke the promise…”

Even though he just said that to your lifeless body, he knew that he didn’t succeed in saving you in time. When he came into the tent, he only found a hopeless human body and a rope. It was too late, you couldn’t breathe at that time and you were already strangled.

He felt so much guilt in himself. He felt bad for you, but at the same time, he also felt a break in your friendship.

As he sobbed and sobbed, he felt like his past was returning again, he was sick of living for so long and having to go through so much. But he’s unable to stop living.

He then spotted a black and leather diary beside you, he tried to open it and luckily it did. He went on the last page and found…

(The End?)
