Chapter Text

His daughter's anger was routine at this point and reminded him a lot of himself. When you choose to reincarnate into a world you know hates you, a prison of your own volition, vowing to make the world worse than when you left it. Funny how you don't live even if you swear to never die.

He walked past the black shreds of the punching bag, the char left after the ash. He knows Savage is calm by now, as calm as she can be as he listened to her throbbing heartbeat from his bedroom.

Macaque arrived at the bedroom door, passing his hand on the wood feeling for temperature. Savage was known to make the door scorching whenever she wanted to be alone and the Gods know how many times Macaque has made that mistake, burning his hands sharply on the metal doorknob. The door was surprisingly cool so either his daughter was fine with company or he had caught her distracted. Most likely and very hopefully the latter.

He opened the door finding his daughter face down on his bed and pillow, his six ears hearing her soft sniffles and shaky breaths. Walking over to the bed, Macaque chose to sit on the floor next to it, his back to the mattress to just - wait.

"Get out." Savage growled menacingly from behind him. Macaque ignored her comment, choosing to scroll on his phone instead.

He felt her stiffen from behind-

"GET OUT! LEAVE!" and flinched as he felt her whack his head hard with the pillow she was just crying into.

"Or I'll freaking make you leave!" she yelled as she smacked Macaque with the pillow once more.

Macaque then turned to look at his daughter, pillow in hand her clenched fist knuckle white, her demon teeth bared. The exhaustion in her eyes masked behind violent anger.

Macaque thought for a moment, but chose to say what he was going to say anyways.

"No." Turning his back to the side of the bed again, still sitting on the floor.

"NO, you little-"

"Hey-" Macaque turned, using his arms to block what would have been a pillow hit to the face. A loud screech from his daughter made him instinctively cover his ears as she instead threw the pillow clean into the wall behind her, flopping face down on the bed again. The wood wall of his bedroom splintered and cracked from the impact of her throw, pillow dropping to the floor with a thud.

Well there goes my wall.

Macaque lifted his head away from the shattered wall now to look at his daughter, her rapid heartbeat a familiar hum in his ears. As he turned to look at the door, savage started to speak in a quiet voice, almost a whisper.

"You both always do this.. you leave and you stay and you leave again and what's the point, " her voice now picking up a rapid pace she continued, "The bone demon's gone, you're not killing Wukong, you're not killing MK or even taking his powers so why are you still even here. Just- jus-just go. "

Patient Macaque heard her deep breath and heartbeat slow as she sank back into the mattress curling up into herself. Macaque then got up from the floor and started searching his cabinets for a soft blanket. After a few minutes of searching and making sure now that his daughter had tuckered herself out, he quietly wrapped the blanket along her now resting body.

He knew the blanket would most likely not be there when he woke up, probably shredded by her claws or burnt to a crisp. He didn't care. In fact he cared as much as he didn't care.

Because he can buy a new blanket.

He can buy a new punching bag.

As long as Rumble and Savage keep coming home.
