He comforts the other and tries to be there for him physically and emotionally while knowing he’s closed off and still recovering from things in his past.

The floor is crumbling before he can possibly comprehend it, tiles chipping away and metal railing crumbling apart beneath him.
Shadow falls first, green chaos emerald slipping from his hands as he drags forward, exhaustion ultimately catching up to him at what appears to be the worst possible moment. He’s completely unconscious, and that sends a jut of fear straight through Sonic’s chest that rationalizes his feet before his mind.
“—Shadow!” Sonic dives out of the aircraft entirely, abandoning the solidarity of ground as he scrambles amidst the air reaching for Shadow’s arm or leg or that chaos emerald—
He can't let the same past event unfold right before his eyes again.

Summary
In the aftermath of the destruction of the Eclipse Canon, Shadow has to deal with an unexpected event: his survival.
Newly fallen to Earth, he forms a simple plan:
