Work Text:
As the sun set over Chicago, Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump found themselves backstage at their latest concert, exhausted but elated after a high-energy performance. As the rest of the band headed off to their dressing rooms, Pete and Patrick lingered behind, catching their breath and exchanging glances.
"Man, that was wild," Pete said, grinning from ear to ear. "We killed it tonight."
Patrick nodded in agreement, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Yeah, we really did. I'm so glad we get to do this together."
Pete's heart skipped a beat at Patrick's words. They had been bandmates and best friends for years, but lately, he couldn't help but feel something more. He had always been drawn to Patrick's talent, his creativity, and his infectious enthusiasm, but now he found himself admiring the way his friend's eyes sparkled in the stage lights, the way his muscles rippled under his shirt as he played guitar, the way his laughter filled the air.
"Pete?" Patrick's voice interrupted his thoughts. "You okay?"
Pete realized he had been staring and quickly looked away, feeling his face flush. "Uh, yeah, sorry. Just spaced out for a minute."
Patrick chuckled. "You do that a lot."
Pete shrugged, trying to play it cool. "I'm a deep thinker, what can I say?"
They fell into a comfortable silence, watching as crew members dismantled the stage and packed up equipment. The air was filled with the sound of distant chatter and the occasional clang of metal.
"I have a confession to make," Patrick said suddenly, breaking the quiet.
Pete's heart skipped a beat. "Uh, sure. What is it?"
"I've been thinking a lot lately about...us," Patrick said, hesitantly. "And I don't know if it's just me, but...I feel like there might be something there. Something more than just friendship."
Pete's mouth went dry. He had dreamed of this moment for so long, but now that it was happening, he didn't know what to say. "Patrick, I...I don't know what to say. I mean, I've always felt something for you, too, but...what if it ruins everything?"
Patrick looked at him earnestly. "Pete, I don't think it will. I think we're meant to be together. Don't you feel it?"
Pete nodded, feeling a lump form in his throat. "Yeah, I do. But...what about the band? What about our fans?"
Patrick smiled gently. "We'll figure it out. Together."
They leaned in slowly, their eyes locked, and their lips met in a soft, sweet kiss. It felt like coming home, like all the pieces of their lives were finally falling into place.
As they pulled away, Pete felt a sense of euphoria wash over him. He knew it wouldn't be easy, navigating their new relationship in the spotlight, but as long as they had each other, they could conquer anything.
"Let's go home," Patrick said, taking his hand.
Pete grinned. "Lead the way."

They made their way through the backstage area, hand in hand, smiling at each other like they were the only two people in the world. As they stepped out into the cool night air, Pete realized that he had never felt so alive.
Together, they walked down the street, their fingers intertwined, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. They talked about their music, their families, their hopes and dreams for the future. They talked about how they had both been secretly in love with each other for years, but had been too afraid to say anything.
"I can't believe we wasted all that time," Pete said, shaking his head. "But I guess it was worth it in the end."
Patrick smiled at him. "Definitely worth it."
They reached Pete's apartment building and walked up the stairs to his unit. As soon as they stepped inside, they were all over each other, kissing passionately, hands roaming over each other's bodies. It was like they had been holding back for so long, and now that they were finally together, they couldn't get enough.
They stumbled into Pete's bedroom, falling onto the bed in a tangle of limbs. They kissed and touched each other, exploring every inch of skin, reveling in the sensation of being so close.
As they lay there, panting and sweating, Pete looked at Patrick with a newfound sense of awe. "I love you," he whispered.
Patrick smiled back at him, his eyes shining with emotion. "I love you, too."
They fell asleep in each other's arms, their bodies entwined, their hearts beating as one.
The next morning, they woke up to the sound of Pete's phone ringing. It was their bandmate Joe, asking if they wanted to meet up for breakfast.
Pete looked at Patrick, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. This was it - they were going to have to tell the rest of the band about their relationship.
But as they sat across from Joe and Andy, sipping coffee and nibbling on pancakes, it all felt...normal. Like nothing had changed. They talked about the show last night, the upcoming tour, and joked around like they always did.
It wasn't until later, when they were alone again, that the reality of their new relationship hit them. But by then, it didn't matter. They knew they could face whatever came their way, as long as they had each other.

Over the next few weeks, Pete and Patrick continued to navigate their new relationship, both privately and publicly. They decided to keep things low-key at first, not wanting to make too big of a deal out of it. But as they began to be seen out and about together more often, rumors began to swirl.
One day, as they were getting ready for a show, their manager pulled them aside. "Look, I know you guys are trying to keep things under wraps, but it's getting harder and harder to do that. There are rumors all over the internet. It's only a matter of time before the press catches wind of this."
Pete and Patrick exchanged a nervous glance. They knew this was coming, but they still weren't sure how to handle it. They didn't want their relationship to overshadow the band, but they also didn't want to lie or hide.
"Maybe we should just come out with it," Patrick said, biting his lip. "Get it over with."
Pete nodded. "Yeah, you're right. Let's do it."
So, at their next show, they took a deep breath and decided to address the elephant in the room. Midway through their set, Pete stepped up to the mic.
"Hey, guys. So, we have something we need to tell you all."
The crowd went silent, watching as Pete's face grew serious.
"Patrick and I...we're together. Like, romantically."
There was a moment of stunned silence, followed by a roar of cheers and applause. The audience erupted into cheers, clapping and shouting their support.
Pete and Patrick exchanged a relieved smile, feeling like a weight had been lifted. They finished the show with renewed energy, feeling closer than ever before.
Afterwards, they were swarmed by reporters and fans, all wanting to know more about their relationship. But Pete and Patrick were happy to answer, happy to share their love with the world.
It wasn't always easy, of course. They had their ups and downs, just like any couple. But they were always there for each other, always supporting each other, always in love.
Years later, as they looked back on their time together, they knew that they had made the right choice. They had chosen each other, and they had never looked back. And as they took the stage once again, the cheers of the crowd ringing in their ears, they knew that they would always have each other - on stage and off.

As the years passed, Pete and Patrick's love continued to grow stronger. They toured the world together, wrote hit songs, and became icons of the pop-punk scene. And through it all, they never forgot what had brought them together in the first place - their love for each other and their shared passion for music.
But as they entered their thirties, they began to feel a new sense of responsibility. They wanted to give back, to make a difference in the world beyond just writing catchy songs and performing for adoring fans.
So, they started a foundation, dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ youth in need. They donated millions of dollars, held benefit concerts, and worked tirelessly to raise awareness and fight for equal rights.
It wasn't always easy - they faced backlash from some conservative groups, and there were times when they wondered if they were making any real impact. But then they would receive a letter from a young person who had been helped by their foundation, and they knew that they were doing the right thing.
And through it all, their love remained steadfast. They got married in a private ceremony, surrounded by their closest friends and family, and continued to write music together, each album a testament to their love and their journey.
As they approached their forties, they began to talk about what was next - maybe starting a family, maybe slowing down and focusing on other creative projects. But one thing was for sure - they knew they would face it all together, with the same love and dedication that had brought them together all those years ago.
And as they stepped onto the stage for their latest tour, the energy of the crowd washing over them, they knew that they were exactly where they were meant to be - in each other's arms, with nothing but the music and their love to guide them.

As the final notes of their last show faded into the night, Pete and Patrick looked out at the cheering crowd, tears streaming down their faces. It was the end of an era - the end of their tour, the end of an album cycle, the end of a decade.
But it was also the beginning of a new chapter. They had accomplished so much together, and they knew there was still so much more to come. They hugged each other tightly, feeling the weight of everything they had been through, everything they had accomplished, everything they had survived.
And as they left the stage, hand in hand, they knew that they would always have each other. No matter what came next, no matter where life took them, they knew that they would always be together - on stage and off.
They walked off into the night, the sound of the crowd still ringing in their ears, the future stretching out before them like an endless horizon. They didn't know what was next, but they knew that they were ready for it - together. And as they looked into each other's eyes, smiling through their tears, they knew that their love would always be the anchor that kept them steady in the storm.
