“The fucking tech guy Pete?” Patrick shouted, giving up on finding what he was looking for as he dropped his bag on the floor in front of him. He stepped over it, coming to stand in the bathroom doorway. “That's not ‘spending time with people’, that's you being an attention whore.”
Pete huffed, pointedly not looking at Patrick as he messed with his hair. “Maybe if you gave me enough attention I wouldn't have to find it somewhere else…” He mumbled, and Patrick didn't miss the slightest hint of genuine hurt in Pete's tone.
“No amount of attention is enough for you Pete.” Patrick said before he could stop himself. Pete’s arms fell to his side as he finally turned around, his expression unreadable as he stared at Patrick.
“Fuck you” He said, shoving past Patrick and leaving the hotel room, slamming the door behind him. Patrick thought about following him but decided against it. Pete just needed time to cool down and realize he was being a dick.

Summary
The Cranial Units was a self proclaimed hardcore/emo band that John had started with his two best friends Danny and Sid in their Junior year of high school. John was the main guitarist and lyricist since nobody else really wanted to write. Throughout that year, the band shuffled between drummers but ultimately never found the right fit, at least according to John. He was weirdly picky about who deserved to be in his band no matter how skillful they were. It was then their senior year and the band was determined to get the group up and running at least before everyone went off to college. Danny and Sid decide to introduce a new band member without John's knowledge.

Mikey was the total package: a sorta-rockstar, a total party animal, and beautiful. All of the shit in his life made the dopamine rushes more enjoyable and sought after. The pride he feels at the end of the day after avoiding any substantial food, getting high or drunk and feeling more carefree than he could ever feel sober, sleeping with some guy he didn’t know and feeling heavenly for a solid few seconds. He had his life figured out.
But sometimes the pride he felt didn't overpower the hunger. Sometimes getting trashed just ended up in him feeling more messed up in the head than he would've been if he were sober. And Pete really didn't feel all that much like a stranger anymore.
