Work Text:

Sam smiled as she picked up her daughter once she had been freed  from her car seat. Making cute little noises and coos all the while. Being only six months old she could only babble, but god she loved to talk. Danny laughed as their daughter grabbed her nose  and squeezed, effectively making Sam need to breath through her mouth.

“C’mon, let’s bring the little hellion in to meet her Granddad.” Danny told her, grabbing a Tupperware container from the backseat as well

Sam laughed readjusted her grip on her daughter so she could balance her head on her shoulder. She motioned for Danny to go on without her as she got everything sorted out. Once she got her daughter under control she started the hike to the prisons front door.

This place was so familiar to her yet so foreign at the same time, she hadn’t been here in a while. As she reached her due date she didn’t feel comfortable flying or driving out. She didn’t need to have her baby in the middle of the air mind you, or on some road surrounded by nothing but farmland. Then after she had her baby her and Danny were so busy taking care of her that she didn’t have time to go see Billy.

This left her unable to see Billy in person for awhile, and when she says awhile, she means about 7 months. They traded letters sure but it wasn’t the same, and if Sam was being honest, she missed him. She has no idea when she became so attached to him but not being able to see him absolutely sucked.

Billy understood, it seemed like he was still a little disappointed that he wasn’t able to see her either though. As horrible as it was as well, Sam was happy that he missed her, it showed he actually cared.

The wait was finally over however as Sam and Danny felt comfortable taking their 6 month old on a plane. They knew that she’d cry, and they felt bad being those people on a plane with a crying kid, but they couldn’t help it. They really wanted Billy to meet his little grandchild, and driving there, even if that’s how Sam usually gets back to Woodsboro, seemed like a whole different type of hell.

She suggested the train, but the universe must’ve hated them because there wasn’t an express. No they’d need 4 different trains to get to Woodsboro and that was almost as expensive as the plane. So yes, the plane it was.

Their travel escapades aside, they were here and they could finally see Billy again.

”Hello, Matthews” Sam greeted, Danny just gave him a polite smile

“Hello. Also I think I told you to call me Max.” Matthews greeted, a smile on his face “Is this your little one?”

“More like our little hellion” Danny told him

Matthews laughed, telling them that he complete understood as he had to watch his younger siblings all the time when he was a kid. His parents were out around much, leaving him to take care of them. Sam gave him an apology even though it wasn’t her fault and Matthews told her not to worry, as while the situation sucked, he loved his siblings.

”Anyway, Loomis is in Room B8. He’s been antsy all week, he missed you” Matthews told them

“Yeah, we missed him too.” Sam told him, bouncing her daughter as she gurgled and babbled at Matthews

“Hahggggi” she babbled

The three laughed, said goodbye and headed off to see Billy. Sam was a little nervous for this visit, she had no idea how Billy was going to react to the name she gave her daughter. He’d either hate it or think it was absolutely adorable. There was no in-between with that man.

”Hey.” Danny called, laying his hand on Sam’s shoulder “It’s gonna be fine”

“I know. Just jitters” Sam told him

“Hey, you don’t need to be jittery, we brought cupcakes! They fix everything.” Danny told her

Sam knew at this point he was just trying to make her laugh and she appreciated it. Specially when the little hellion she was holding began to laugh as well.

”Hey Billy” Sam greeted as she opened the door

“Hey” he parroted, smiling when he saw the baby’s head resting on Sam’s shoulder “That your daughter?”

“We already told Matthews, she actually are little hellion” Sam laughed

Billy snorted, tapping on the little baby’s nose, making her laugh and clumsy clap her hands.

“You like babies?” Danny asked

“Eh, when Stu’s sister had her kid he had to watch him a lot, so I usually had to help out. So I guess I grew sound of them somewhere along that line.” Billy explained “So what did you name your ‘little hellion’.

“Billie” Sam told him, her whole face becoming a bright red

Billy’s eyes widened and he just…stared, not saying anything, which concerned Danny and Sam for a moment. Then he seemed to snap out of it, shaking his head a little as he came back to reality.

“…Say that again” Billy muttered

“We named her Billie, well the female version anyway, her name ends with an ‘ie’ instead of ‘y’” Sam explained, before cracking a rather morbid joke “Maybe this one won’t become a serial killer.”

Billy laughed a little, he smiled at his namesake, brown eyes filled with life that left them along time ago.

”She got a middle name?” Billy asked

Sam nodded “Nancy”

”Oh my god, Sam” Billy chuckled, running his hands down his face “Billie Nancy Brackett Carpenter? Is that her full name?”

Sam and Danny nodded and Billy laughed again, they smiled along with him, a laugh escaping them every now and then.

“You really shouldn’t have” Billy told them

“Too bad, we did, it’s on the birth certificate. No going back now.” Danny told him, reaching over for his Tupperware container ”Besides, we brought cupcakes to celebrate.”

Billie started clumsy clapping again when she saw the cupcakes and started a string of excited babbling.

”I guess she really likes clapping?” Billy asked, chuckling a little

Yes” Sam groaned “Especially in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep. She definitely hasn’t woken up the neighbors with her clapping and babbling.”

That got a true belly laugh out of Billy. He then made a motion for Danny to hand over a cupcake. They all laughed at the semi-pissed off look on Billie’s face when she only got a mini cupcake.

Afterwards they just had fun talking and laughing. Little Billie joining in with such truly intriguing babbling. They’re happy little family plus one more member. It was just perfect.

And Sam was happy. They all were.
