Ghost was worried, and he didn’t know how to handle it. He was staying away from Johnny but he had a good reason; Johnny kept trying to get to his heart and he was scared of hurting the other. Getting close to Ghost has proven without failing to hurt people and he didn’t want to hurt Johnny. He also didn’t know how to love himself, so how would he be able to love Johnny?
“Speak his name and he shall appear,” Simon muttered to himself as he saw Johnny walking into their shared room.
“Why are you avoiding me? I thought we were on the same page,” Johnny crossed his arms as he looked at Simon expectantly which caused Simon to sigh in defeat. Simon patted the spot next to him on his bed, motioning for Johnny to sit next to him to which the other man complied while still looking at Simon.
“I just….” Simon tried to articulate but he couldn’t find the words to make his struggles known to his new lover so he shook his head and gathered his thoughts “Johnny I don't like anything about me, I don’t think you’ll like what’s here either once you see all of it,” Simon said, looking away from his boyfriend.
Simon felt a hand on his jaw, the hand turned his head to face the owner of said hand. Johnny had an intense look in his eyes as he placed his forehead against Simon’s. Simon sighed at the contact and met johnny’s intense stare with his tired gaze, causing Johnny’s look to soften the slightest bit as he brought his other hand up to cup Simon's masked face with both of his hands.
“I'll love you hard enough for the both of us,” Johnny whispered as they both closed their eyes to bask in these feelings of closeness and companionship.
Johnny moved one of his hands to the edge of Simon’s balaclava, and before he could even ask to take it off of Simon, he opened his eyes to look into Johnny’s as he nodded his approval. Johnny pulled it all of the way off so he could behold all of Simon.
“I feel stupid now, just so you know,” Simon said as a blush tinted his pale face to a warm shade of red. Johnny smiled at him before cupping Simon’s face once more and bringing him into a passionate kiss filled with love and adoration.
Simon made a humming sound as Johnny slipped his tongue into the kiss to deepen their bond. After a little bit, they both needed oxygen so they pulled back, panting.
“Don’t feel stupid, I like it when you share things with me,” Soap said as he put his forehead against Simon’s once more.
Maybe Simon needed this more than he realized, maybe he needed johnny more than he realized. They could get through this. Maybe Simon would learn how to love himself again. Maybe he could ask johnny to teach him how to love himself.
But right now it didn’t matter, because Simon leaned his head on his Scottish boyfriend and soon felt the exhaustion of staying awake for days on end take him over and he finally fell into a deep sleep for the first time in years. And longer still had it been since he fell asleep with a smile on his face, but it seems Johnny brings out the best and worse in him.
