"You have to try it, Zero! It's so sweet and soft," X said happily.
Zero frowned a bit, looking away. His expression was unreadable; he just looked like his usual unimpressed self, unphased and uninterested in anything.
"What flavor?" he asked quietly.
X perked up. Zero was finally showing interest!
"Blueberry," he said brightly. He scooped up a small bite of cheesecake and held it up. "You like blueberries, right?"
X was unsure what exactly it was that caused Zero to react the way he did; Zero's eyes opened wide for a moment, his face gaining a hint of red. X suddenly felt self-conscious.
"....I...I guess so..." Zero said after a long silence. He quickly averted his eyes.
Just when X thought he'd have to prompt him again, Zero gave a light sigh and closed his eyes. He just barely opened his mouth, looking extremely uncomfortable, but receptive.
Something warm and fuzzy overcame X at that moment. His hand started to shake. He would be so embarassed if he got blueberry goo smeared on Zero's cheek because of his shaking hands...but he couldn't stop now!
In it went, and smoothly, too. The way Zero held onto the spoon for just a few delicate seconds while he savored the creamy dessert made X smile.
"Mmm," Zero hummed, finally giving in to a smile. "I guess I do like blueberries after all." He opened his eyes. "And cheesecake," he added with a devious look. "That's mine now. Gimme."
X laughed as Zero gingerly took the dessert from him and devoured it right then and there.
