Harley groaned as she walked in, the door swinging shut behind her. Standing up from a stretch, HP looked on with concern. “Hey Harley, you doing all right?”
Nodding made Harley wince again, and she regretted not just using her words. “Yeah. Just a bit sore.”
“We didn’t go *that* hard yesterday.”
“No, it wasn’t that. It’s Bud.” Harley sat down, dropping her gym bag next to the bench as she started to stretch out. “She’s a great partner, but I do wish she’d maybe not give me so many close calls? She nearly hit me right in the back with a laser last night, I dodged the wrong way into a trash can. Ugh, gonna be feeling that for a few days. But better than getting fried.”
HP winced at the thought. Despite what everyone told her, she guessed there were some benefits to going it alone. Watching Harley move slowly through her stretches, HP felt an idea forming.
“Hey, you mention Bud a lot, but she’s never around here.”
Harley shrugged. “Guess she doesn’t like to work out.”
“Well, what if you bring her around? You and I usually do some sparring after, what if instead we helped Bud out with some training? That way you don’t have to be the only one getting shot at and we can maybe help Bud shoot you less when it actually matters.”
Harley raised an eyebrow. “You’re okay getting shot at?”
HP shrugged. “Better to get shot by something that might not kill me. Plus, it helps to learn how to dodge monster attacks. Not like I have anyone to practice that sort of thing with, no offense.”
Harley laughed. “None taken. I can always ask. Maybe we can make some sort of club out of it.”
