Work Text:
"Kaveh," Al-Haitham called, Kaveh turned from the light that shown from his work-desk. "I'm..not done." Kaveh muttered.
"I don't care if you're not done; you need rest." Al-Haitham responded.
"I'm not even tired," Kaveh denied; Kaveh tried to hold in his yawn.
"See?" Al-Haitham says, walking over to him, he took Kaveh's hand, and they stood together.
"Look at you," Al-Haitham continues. "Your eyes have lost their glow,"
Kaveh looks away, the other grabs his chin and makes him look him in the eye, but still avoided eye-contact.
"How shall you be the Light of the Kshahrewar," Al-Haitham caressed his cheek.
"Without the light in your eyes?" Al-Haitham questioned, Kaveh's gaze softened.
"I..just want to get this work done." Kaveh responded; Al-Haitham sighs.
The quiet sound of crickets and wind could be heard. "..Why do you care so much anyways?" Kaveh asks.
Al-Haitham shook his head. "I..can't tell you,"
"Then why bother sounding like you care so much?"
"*๐๐ฆ๐ค๐ข๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ, I'm afraid."
"Afraid of what?" Kaveh interrogates.
"Your answer; if I'd ever have the chance to tell you." Al-Haitham turns away.
"I won't be bothering you anymore, but please rest." He continued.
Kaveh could hear the door close from behind him.
"If only we didn't fight so much, then maybe he'd get the hint." Kaveh says to himself.
The blonde puts his head on his desk, and closes his eyes. "It's hopeless." He sighed.
A few minutes passed, he picked himself up and held his pen in hand. He tapped it against the wooden desk rhythmically, the light above him creating a shadow looking over a empty peice of paper.
Kaveh closes his eyes. "I can't believe in doing this." And starts writing everything he felt about Al-Haitham in one letter.
*"๐๐บ ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ต ๐๐ญ-๐๐ข๐ช๐ต๐ฉ-" He erases; he thinks writing a letter of his feelings for his roommate is foolish; ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ, is for fools.
"Let's just get this over with." He groans.
He spent hours writing, everything poured out of his heart like he had no choice;
He wanted to tell him for years, but never had the guts to, nor the time.
He had passed out asleep at dawn. A few hours pass, he was still asleep. The sun had risen, Kaveh got barely any rest.
Al-Haitham opened the door, "Kaveh, you better have-" the Sage looked in the dark room, Kaveh's work-desk light being the only light in the room; it was dim, but he could still see.
He walked over. "Kav-" He saw the letter, written neatly, despite Kaveh's lack of rest.
The letter read:

The letter ends there; every line and curve of handwriting in the letter so familiar to him, Kaveh's talk about their childhood together giving him a sense of nostalgia, he smiles softly.
Al-Haitham gently shakes the architect awake. "Kaveh, the sun is up, you should be too."
"But I want to sleep.." Kaveh muttered.
"Alright, alright." Haitham pulls Kaveh to his bed, they lay there together, Haitham plays with Kaveh's hair as he slowly falls back asleep.
Kaveh turns, slumberous.
"Hm?"
"Did I ever tell you.." Kaveh starts; he snuggles into Al-Haitham tiredly.
"How much I love you.." He mumbled.
Al-Haitham nodded; "From what I read in that letter that you addressed to me, yes."
Kaveh jerked himself awake.
"WAIT, YOU READ MY LETTER?" He pulls away yelling in a panic.
"You fell asleep, and I read it."
"You- you weren't supposed to read it yet!-" Kaveh covers the burning pinkish shade on his face with his hands, embarrassed.
Al-Haitham chuckled. "Well, I did."
"And I'm happy you feel the same."
Kaveh's eyes widened in surprise. "Huh?"
"You like me too? Since when! Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Kaveh says.
"Since forever, and..I wasn't sure if you liked me back, so I didn't say anything." The corner of Al-Haitham's lips form a smirk.
"You idiot.." Kaveh plunges himself into Al-Haitham's figure.
Al-Haitham wraps his arms gently around Kaveh. "I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner.." He says between laughs.
"I love you, idiot."
"I love you too."
Kaveh smiles, the light in his eyes returning.
Haitham kisses Kaveh's cheek, and they slowly fall asleep together.
