Work Text:
Was Mark surprised when he found out his boyfriend of one year was a vampire?
“Mark,” Jeno says one day as they’re cuddling on the couch. His tone is serious which means Mark is giving him his full attention. “It might be a little late to tell you this, but,” Jeno takes a deep breath. “I’m a vampire.”
Mark had blinked at him, his eyebrows scrunching up as he processed what was just said to him. After a few moments of silence, his eyes light up and he snaps his fingers.
“Are we role playing? Sweet, I’ll be a werewolf then.”
“What?” Was the only thing Jeno could say.
“I’ll be a werewolf,” Mark grinned. “You know, grrr,” Mark tried his best to growl. “Sounds like fun, I’m in.”
It took Mark a month to finally believe Jeno was a vampire and that was when the shock really settled in.
“Whoa,” Mark trailed off, eyeing the red eyes and the blood dripping down Jeno’s neck. His eyes eventually land on the unconscious body behind him.
Jeno’s body is still shaking with rage, he’s pretty sure that man is still alive. He thinks. He hopes so. But he was just so angry and in that rage he also realized how hungry he was. It’s been a while since he last had anything to drink.
Mark takes a couple steps away from Jeno and towards that man on the ground. Jeno instantly blocks his path, “Don’t,” Jeno says, tone deep and angry, but not at Mark. Never at Mark.
Mark knows this so he puts the other man to the back of his mind for now. “What happened,” Mark asks, tone calm and gentle showing Jeno that he’s patient and ready to listen.
“You told me you were coming home late,” Jeno swallows, “And I hate when you you walk home alone at night, you know this-”
Mark nods his head, “I know, I’m sorry.”
“So I was following you,” Jeno admits, avoiding eye contact, “Just to make sure you were safe, I know I shouldn’t but-” Jeno pauses and he hears Mark whisper “its ok” before he continues. His eyes hardened, “And then I saw him,” he growls, “Following you too and I,” he sighs, closing his eyes and begging his body to finally relax because Mark is safe, he’s not in danger anymore so Jeno shouldn’t be feeling like this anymore, but he can’t help it.
Mark catches on to it, “You snapped?”
Jeno nods his head. “Yeah,” he croaks out.
Mark finally acknowledges the man lying on the ground, “Is he alive.”
“I don’t know,” Jeno whispers.
Mark examines the body from where he is, not daring to move any closer. His eyes briefly lock onto the shiny object in his hand before looking away and studying the rise and fall of his chest. He’s breathing, that’s good enough for him.
“He’ll be fine,” Mark says, kind eyes observing Jeno. “Let’s go.”
They go home, Mark gesturing to Jeno to sit on the counter as he grabs some paper towels and begins to wipe the blood off of Jeno’s face. Jeno lets him, silently watching Mark as he does so. He looks for any hint of fear or hesitation, but he finds none.
It’s just his loving boyfriend.
“So, haha. Vampire, huh?”
Jeno laughs, “Yes Mark, I’m a vampire.”
Mark nods his head, “Cool.”
“Yeah,” Jeno smiles, “Cool.”
🦇
Jeno woke up hungry.
It’s not that overwhelming hunger that makes him snap and want to sink his teeth into anyone, no, he doesn’t let himself get there. It’s like when Mark gets up at 2 in the morning to munch on some chips. Yeah, Jeno just has the munchies.
The problem is, vampires don’t have any alternative snacks. He can’t just rummage through the cabinets and expect to find something to quench his hunger until a few hours from now when he has his actual appointment where he’ll get to eat. Nothing like that exists in the kitchen.
But there is a tasty snack in his bed right now.
He woke up plastered to Mark’s shirtless back, face nuzzled in his neck. He smells good, he always smells good. Maybe that’s why he has the urge to snack. He keeps that in mind for later because right now Mark is smelling really good and he can’t get the scent of his sweet blood out of his head.
“Mark,” he whispers, hand sliding up his arm. “Mark, I’m hungry,” he whines in the older boy's ear.
“Mark,” Jeno insists when Mark doesn’t respond. After multiple failed attempts at trying to wake up his boyfriend, who apparently sleeps like the dead, he goes for plan B.
His mouth moves to Mark’s shoulder where he lightly bites it, not enough to break skin or anything, just a playful bite and the results are instant. Jeno laughs as Mark shudders and opens his eyes.
“Did you just bite me?” Mark says, a sleepy smile on his face.
“Mhm,” Jeno says, returning the smile. “It’s the only way I can get you up.”
“Works every time,” Mark sighs, not afraid to admit he likes it. His eyes move to Jeno’s face, studying it. “Can’t sleep?”
Jeno pouts, “I want a snack.”
Mark laughs when he sees his pouty face, “Nothing in the kitchen?”
“Mark,” Jeno whines.
“I’m kidding, come here,” Mark grins, opening his arms and Jeno is quick to fall into them. “Don’t take too much though,” Mark says as he runs his hand through Jeno’s hair. “Today’s your feeding appointment.”
“I know,” Jeno says, moving right to Mark’s neck so he can kiss the skin right where his pulse is. “I won’t take much,” are Jeno’s last words before he’s sinking his teeth in and savoring the taste of Mark’s blood on his tongue. The only noise Mark makes is a gasp as Jeno’s teeth go in, but that’s it. He’s quiet as Jeno drinks, giving Jeno comforting touches that make his eyes start to close.
Like he promised, he only takes a bit and then licks the wound, lapping up any leftover blood and helping it close. He snuggles into Mark’s arms more after he’s done, letting his eyes shut because he gets really sleepy after he feeds.
“Better?” Mark asks with a chuckle as his vampire boyfriend begins to fall asleep.
“Mhm,” Jeno smiles, all sleepy, “You’re my favorite snack.”
