Summary:

This is a story of Percy at age 11 all the way to the battle of Hogwarts. This takes a dive at how alone he really was within his family, as well as showing how he gets a friend who get close as the years go by.

Notes:

I already have the full fic written out, so I'll release chapters as more people read and such. Two will be released for now.

Chapter 1: Percival Ignatius Weasley And His Imperfections.

Chapter Text

This takes place within the Weasley's Burrow; a house of magic wonders. Mostly with the fact the parents are wizards with two sons that are attending the same wizarding school as they did their age.

But this time it's a special occasion, the third oldest would be attending his first year at the school. This would be Percival Ignatius Weasley. As his first year starts the older two, Bill and Charlie, respectfully are in their 6th and 4th years.

For Percy this was a more occurring fear, he looked up to his brothers deeply and it's been set upon him to be just like them. His mother's words that is.

His main fear though? Will he even be able to pass as a man to others?

He looks, sounds, and acts like a man as told from Bill. Because he is one. But it's a normal fear of semi recent transitions. Maybe it's guilt, it was pricely for the poor family. This self doubt is probably only really shown through him.

Bill was the cool oldest brother, Charlie shows his strength through being into Quidditch, Percy.. he isn't sure of what separates himself from them. He's smart, but so are they. As he thought on that he determines it would be his quietness compared to them, and his younger siblings.

Fred and George are the twins; they don't start their years yet. But they love picking at Percy. One of the reasons he hates his own body is how they comment on it. But despite his bitterness he's fond of the youngest ones.

That'd be Ron and Ginny. They are very dear to him, as his only sisters within the family. He's a bit sad when he gets to Hogwarts they won't be with him, by his 4th year Ron would be there, then in his 5th Ginny's there. That's years away, his patience is just bearing on a thin rope.

On this day it's just some time before school starts. Percy laid 'sleeping'. Merely lost in his thoughts, it's already giving him a headache. He gets them often, and refused any medicine if he mentioned his head hurting to his siblings.

Then there's the knock. Thinking to himself he listens; it wasn't a pounding, more gentle actually. It wasn't Charlie, the twins, or Ron. Why would it be Ginny? She doesn't wake him unless it's something important, or if the twins made her sad. He believes it's Bill, he usually woke the others for breakfast.

The door opened and he opens his eyes turning to face the other. Bill smiled, "'Morning, Perce. Didn't wake you did I?" Percy shook his head and sat up, "I wish, sleep is getting rough." He sighs getting his glasses on. Bill nods at that walking over and sitting on the side of the bed.

"Don't push yourself okay? I see how you stress yourself out with these.. expectations." Percy glares and grows quiet. Bill frowns at that, "I know, I know, not my business. But it is my business as being a brother to his brother." That seemed to ease him a bit - being seen as a guy is something he longed for. Even if it was just one word it made him feel closer with Bill.

"I know.. can we not talk about this now?" He softly pleads and Bill nods patting his shoulder, "Course. Breakfast is soon and should be getting mail mum said." Percy pouts, "From Errol?? Poor bird honestly." He shrugs and gets up.

Bill laughed hard getting up as well, "Well, the thing loves us, so we just gotta make do with what we have. Oh- before I go, Gin wants to see if you can do her hair." He turns to Percy.

Percy's eyes raised, "Really? But I'm not that good I mean - doesn't mum always do it?" Bill nods, "Yeah but she's making breakfast so no time." Percy stared, "Okay.. then after she makes it." He's being stubborn and Bill in response reached over scruffing his curly hair, "Percival." He starts and that shuts Percy up.

"..Okay. Fine." Percy scratched his arm, "Good." Bill nods before leaving and closing the door. It's not that Percy didn't want to do her hair, he loves her to death and wants to do things for her, but it's just he wants to get away from more feminine things in a way. He'll help his sisters no doubt, he just needs time.

He gets on some slippers and walks over to his door. He grabs the handle and paused for a moment - no, he can't think of that right now. He walks out ignoring the loud chatting in the kitchen and walks over to Ginny's room.

He knocks, "Hey, Gin. Bill told me to come do your hair." A very happy and bright girl opened the door, "Really? Thank you, Percy!" She smiled making Percy grin as he walked in. He heads to the dresser grabbing the brush, "Any dreams?" He asks when she sits in a small chair. "Mm.. maybe. I don't remember." She shrugs. "Fair enough." He snorts and glanced at her.

Thinking for a bit.. then he grabs a hairtie, "How about a braid?" Ginny's eyes lit up, "You could braid hair this whole time and never told me!?" She pouts and Percy giggles walking over, "I'm not the best at it though. Mum taught me how to years ago." He sits on the bed and began brushing her hair.

"Why?" She asks and Percy's heart quickened a bit. He stumbles but thinks of a quick lie, "You know how she always wanted a daughter? Taught me and the other two how to for said daughter." He coos. It was merely a half lie, Molly always wanted a daughter, something she thought Percy was.

He wasn't that daughter. And she accepted that.

Ginny nods, "Maybe she can teach me too.. or! You can!" Percy raises a brow, "As I've said, I'm not really good at this." "Probably because of how short your hair is - and that it's so different from everyone else's! A bunch of curls and it's fluffy!" She giggles happily and he smiles, "Guess I got lucky then." After he was done brushing her hair he begins to braid it.

After a few minutes he's done, "Turn and face me, yeah?" Ginny does so and Percy lays the braid onto her shoulder and smiles. "I'm not too bad at this." He said proudly and Ginny was just a light as she stares at her hair. She can't get words out and hugs Percy tightly. He huffs hugging her back, "You know how I am with touch.." He mumbles and Ginny frowns, "I'm- I'm sorry, Percy. I forget sometimes." She breaks the hug and he lays his hand onto her head, "It's alright honestly. You are one of the few I'd prefer it from." He smiles, "Now then, breakfast. Come, come." He waved her off and she happily jumps out her chair and rushed off to the kitchen.

Percy gets up, fixes the fallen chair before walking out and closing the door. He walks down the stairs taking a glance at the kitchen. Only two are missing; him and Ron. He huffs and goes to Ron's room and knocks, "Ron, breakfast." He grumbled. No response.

He frowns and opens the door, Ron was sitting by her window clenching a stuffed animal. "I..- I had a nightmare." She said a bit embarrassed. Percy walks over and sits on the other side, "Do you remember it?" His tone is soft gaining Ron's glance. "Just.. the family was attacked. I hid in my closet.. I think someone died.." She was tearing up now.

Percy reached over wiping her eyes, "Remember it's not real. A nightmare is just a nightmare, it tries getting into your head to give you something to get you going." He lays his hand on her knee. Ron stares, "It's so.. rude of whatever to give us nightmares.." She grumbles and he nods. "We can't stop them, only move past them. If we don't feed into them then they can't do anything to us. It's a false future." Ron nods, "Okay.. I know you're right." She moved her legs down a bit, "I just.. can- can I be in here for breakfast?" Percy smiled and nods, "Bringing you your food then." He gets up and she grabs at his hand.

He gave it a gentle squeeze, "I'll tell you what, I'll eat with you and talk you through your feelings. Make you feel better." Ron smiled and nods, "I'd like that." Percy nods and walks off. He walked to the kitchen being greeted by his happy mother.

"Good morning, Percy!" Molly said sweetly. Percy nods, "Er.. Ron isn't really.. feeling the best." Molly frowns, "Is she okay?" She is worried and Percy nods, "Yeah just nightmare is all. Can I eat with her in her room?" He raises his chin a bit. Molly sighs, "Very well, just don't be messy. But I already know you or Ron won't." She hands him the plates before he walks off.

Percy gets the door open with his elbow and he closed it after he's in with his foot. "You can have my bacon, it's already on your plate." He said sweetly and Ron smiled and takes her plate, "You don't have to do that." Percy shrugs, "I noted you like bacon, so why not?" He smiled sitting down and placing the plate in his lap. Ron couldn't be any more happy with her older brother, "I just think you should have just as much food as me." She said softly.

Percy glanced over, "You have a tougher build than me, your body needs more food to perform." This was him telling her that her weight and food consumption is amazing as it was. That is all she needs to hear from anyone. They smile greatly at each other as they ate and talked about other things.

While in the kitchen it's still as loud as ever. Bill groans loudly, "You kidding?? I'm better at Chaser than you!" He smirks at the glaring Charlie, "And yet I'm on the Quidditch team. Especially - I'm the captain!" He laughs in his face basically.

"Okay, that's because I'm busy as Head Boy to be in Quidditch, thank you very much." He says defensively. Molly shakes her head at this bickering as she's eating. She's proud of the two at what they've achieved.

"Well, I say, me and Fred would be good Beaters." George enters the conversation and the older two grin. "Just wait until you get into Hogwarts then! It sucks I won't be there to see you two get on the team." Bill sighed sadly. Charlie nods, "Yeah, I'll be almost done with my years when you two get in." He notes. Fred shrugs, "Just means we'll get better than you." Laugher erupts as they all poked at each other.

"Do you think I could be in Quidditch?" Ginny asks her brothers and they looked at her. Bill smiled, "Of course! You'd be better than a lot of people on the team." He says confidently and she smiled at it. The twins noticed her hair, "What's going on there?" George teased picking up the braid.

Ginny pouts angrily swatting his hand away, "Percy did it." She said proudly. The twins only laughed at that, "Girly of him don't you think?" "I believe so as well." The twins say to each other. Molly narrowed her eyes, "Boys, you quit that now. You pick at your brother too much. Maybe you should learn how to care for your sisters just like him." She huffs and they frown.

"Wasn't being mean about it just saying." Fred muttered and Bill nudged his arm, "Pipe it and eat." He sighs as they continue to talk before their dad gets home. He approaches this window type door, "'Morning, Weasleys." Arthur says as Molly gets up embracing her husband.

There's respectful greetings as they ate. Arthur was eating at his eggs as he finally noticed two empty spots at the table. He cleared his throat, "Where's Percy and Ron?" He looked at the others.

Molly nods to the stairs, "In Ron's room, eating. Nightmare happened, so Percy's giving her comfort." Arthur grins, "How sweet." He doesn't say anything more as the talks continue.

Percy walked down the stairs placing away the plates. He waved at his dad before walking back to the stairs. He only stops when there's an animal screech outside. Ron follows after Percy when he peaks back to the kitchen watching a approaching owl.

The others watched too, Bill's eyes narrowed, "Uhm. Should we open the window?-" The owl then crashed into the window. Silence was there with mixed expressions. Molly hesitates, "Bill, go let Errol in." She prompts him.

Bill nods and gets up walking to the window before opening it. The owl stumbles to stand straight as it had letters in it's beak. Bill smiled taking them before Errol was off, "Our letters." Percy stepped a bit closer curiously.

Molly takes the letters, "Here you go, Bill. Mm.. Charlie. And... Percy." Percy's eyes raised with his other siblings looking back at him. His throat is dry as he steps forward and took the letter.

Percy is quiet as he reads it within his head, and with a peaking Ron by his shoulder. Bill and Charlie were looking at the list of things they need, "Looks like we get another to pay for." Bill nods at Percy who's looking at the item list. Ron now holding the acceptance letter as she read it more clearly.

Molly nods happily as she stood, "Then we must get to Diagon Alley. Arthur stay here with the twins and the young ones alright?" Arthur nods. She with Bill and Charlie walk over with Percy to the fireplace.

Percy was nervous at this since he's only used Foo Powder a few times. Molly looks to them, "Very well now, Bill you're up first." Bill nods and walks to the fireplace and ducks into it. He reached over and grabbed a hand full of the powder before he spoke, "Diagon Alley." He spoke clearly dropping the powder into the fireplace as he's indelved with the green flames.

Molly had her arm covering Percy as they watched with squinting eyes. Once it clears, Bill was gone now. She nods looking to the other two, "Go on, Charlie. Then you, Percy." She said as they nod.

Charlie gets in with powder, "Diagon Alley." And he's gone. Now Percy steps up and gets his hand full. "Diagon Alley." He repeats as the flames consume him.
