Chapter Text
They were running, his dad hurt and bleeding. Casey was letting his sensei support his weight on him.
"I got you, Sensei. Stay with me."
"You're a lifesaver, Casey Jones" Leo replies smiling.
"I learned from the best. Come on, we're almost there." Casey says, opening up his mask.
Jotaro is not paying attention, he's staring at his father's would. He nearly trips but catches himself quickly.
"Jo come on!" Casey yells.
Jotaro shakes his head and runs faster, trying to catch up to them. He notices krang dogs, as he called them, running towards Casey and his father, who were now crouching on the ground. Jotaro panicked, running as fast as he could, thoughts racing through his head. Just as he thinks he's not about to make it, his uncle Mikey shows up.
"Bad dogies!"
Jotaro runs over to his dad and leaps onto him, hugging him. Leo smiles down at him and then looks up at his brother,
"Impeccable timing, little brother. Very dramatic."
Leo smiles and says
"Jo, that's a little tight. I'm still hurt, remember?"
"Oh yeah, sorry!" Jotaro says, his eyes shining from holding back tears.
Leo smiles again, but it quickly fades and he grunts, covering his wound.
"Help him, Michelangelo. He's hurt bad." Casey says, looking at him.
Leo looks up, watching the chaos that is surrounding them.
"That's it. The resistance failed. The Krang won." He says.
Jotaro can not believe what he just heard.
"What?"
Leo continues,
"But it isn't over. We still got a ninja's greatest weapon... hope."
Casey looks at his Sensei confused. But his sensei's not done yet.
"That and a badass mystic warrior. Mikey, we need a time gateway"
Time gateway? What did he mean by that? Jotaro wonder, his face puzzled. He looked over at his uncle, seeing his eyes widen.
"It'll take everything I have."
Jotaro was more confused now. What does he mean by everything?
"I know, but this is our last chance. It's our only chance."
Mikey nods and turns around.
"Wait, what's going on? Where is he going?" Casey asks. Leo replies,
"Casey, Jo, listen."
Jotaro nods and looks watches his uncle, he seems to be doing some sort of spell. But his eyes were so focused. What is happening?
His dad then continues,
"The Krang first came to our planet through a mystic doorway." Leo takes out an old picture of him and his family. He flips it and starts drawing.
"The key that opened the doorway looked like this."
"Why are you telling us this?" Casey asked.
"Because Mikey is about to send you back in time to the day that the key was stolen." His sensei replies.
"Wait, he's gonna what?" Casey says baffled.
"Dad what? What about you?" Jotaro asked, an unsettling feeling creeps up. Like he knows what is about to happen but refuses to acknowledge it. Leo doesn't reply. Jotaro hears his uncle groaning and turns around. He notices a yellow crack appearing in front of Mikey, similar cracks appearing on his uncle's arms. They look to be... hurting him, why is he doing this?
"The people who stole that key opened the doorway for the Krang. You have to find it before that happens. Find the key, stop the Krang." His dad tells them.
"But sensei-" Casey tries to say,
"Say it, you to Jo."
"Find the key, stop the Krang." Casey and Jotaro say in union.
Leo pats Casey's back and nods. He then proceeds to untying his mask and giving it to Jotaro.
"Dad, why are you giving me this?" He asks, his eyes then growing wide with realization. Leo flashes him a smile, which quickly fades as the light around them turns red. The Krang had found them.
"They found us!" Casey yells, drawing his weapon. Jotaro takes out his scythe, ready for battle.
"Mikey" Leo pleads.
Jotaro watches his uncle as he yells, the cracks on his arm spreading up along his body and he widens the glowing portal.
"Master Michelangelo, no! You're gonna-" Casey doesn't get to finish that sentence. Instead, they all watch as Mikey gives them a wink, opening a portal and then fading away.
"No..." Jotaro says, he can fell tears starting to well in his eyes.
"Casey" His dad says
"When you two are done saving the world, do me a favor. Grab a slice!" He yells, tossing Casey into the portal. Leo then turns towards his son. Jotaro looks at him, knowing what is about to happen.
"Dad no, no no no no no, NO!" Jotaro yells as his dad throws him. The last thing Jotaro sees before loosing consciousness is his dad running into battle, only to quickly to be killed by Krang.
