Work Text:

Sidney and Gale watched as Sam walked back into her apartment, she jumped when she saw the two of them. It was to be expected, they hadn’t exactly warned her that they’d be stopping by.

”Oh hey” Sam greeted, a small smirk on her face, it was so reminiscent of Billy

“Hey Kid” Sidney greeted

Sam looked around awkwardly for a moment before joining them in her little living area. She sat down in an arm chair across from the and looked at them, clearly waiting for them to start the conversation. When neither Sidney or Gale did, she took over.

”What’s wrong? Is there another Ghostface killer out there?” Sam asked now standing again and panic suddenly creeping on to her face “Should we leave New York or get involved again?!”

“Woah Woah, slow your roll, Cowgirl” Gale told her, motioning for Sam to sit back down “There is no Ghostface killer on the loose. Not right now anyway.”

“Okay so…what is it?” Sam asked, brown eyes flickering from Sidney to Gale

Sidney and Gale shared a look, they knew that this question would be risky. They didn’t know how Sam would react and honestly, it wasn’t their business. Still it was odd that every Friday Sam left New York to head back to Woodsboro for the day. It’s not like she was visiting her mother, Sam made it clear that she was cut off after she told Tara about Billy.

Sam continued staring at the fellow Ghostface survivors, unsure if they wanted her to continue talking or not. They seemed to be having some sort of mental debate with one another. They both suddenly snapped their heads to look at her and Sam was met with piercing blue and brown eyes respectively.

”We just wanted to make sure you’re being safe when you go to Woodsboro.” Sidney told her

”Oh I am, I just go to see Billy, eat something and then leave. It’s a pain in the ass making the journey but it’s worth it.” Sam told them, not even processing what she had told them

“Wait, you go to Woodsboro to see Billy?” Sidney asked, a worried and maybe even mad tone in her voice

“…Yeah?” Sam told her, although it sounded like a question

Sidney looked slightly mad and worried but the anger seemed to be overwhelming the concern. Gale looked upset, she didn’t look mad like Sidney however. She could tell that she wanted to blow up at Sam but Gale placed a hand on her shoulder to calm her.

Sam seemed to notice the reaction of the other women before her and had started sinking into her chair. She didn’t think that they’d react like this at all, this was her life if she wanted to visit her father she could. She understood why they were concerned but she wanted to visit him, Billy listened to her.

“Look, I know you think it isn’t a good idea” Sam started, getting cut off by Sidney

“Because it is a bad idea” Sidney retorted, her voice was louder than she intended for it to be “Look I know you think it is but, Billy is dangerous”

Sam felt her blood begin to boil, she knew that Billy could be dangerous but she was careful. Also, he had never shown any sign that he would ever harm her, he seemed so fond of her.

”It’s fine, we get along fine” Sam tried to explain “He isn’t threatening me or doing anything to make me think he’ll hurt me.”

”I didn’t think that Billy was a threat either. Then he killed my mother and friends” Sidney hissed

Gale squeezed her hand that rested on Sidney’s shoulder, trying to get her friend to relax. Sam’s own temper was starting to flare and she wanted to deescalate the situation before it exploded.

”Sam we just want to make sure you’re safe” Gale butted in

“I should be allowed to see my dad when I wanted to. I’m an adult, I can make my own decisions, I’ve been doing it long before I knew you!” Sam spoke, her voice getting louder

“Look, just think about it. Think about how seeing Billy may not be the….best idea?” Gale asked, gently guiding Sidney out of Sam’s apartment

She sat back down on her couch and hid her face in her hands. Her brown eyes were starting to water and she couldn’t help it as the tears ran down her face. Sidney and Gale were definitely people she looked up to, they understood her. At the same time however, Billy was willing to listen to her sorrows and comfort her more than anything. He loved her, she was sure of that, he had to…right?

She really wished that all the people she loved and or cared about would get along. Danny and Billy hit it off great, Tara and Billy both were sarcastic assholes that loved each other, Mindy, Chad, and Billy were a little awkward at first but get along now.

Sidney, Gale, and Billy getting along though? No matter what happened, no matter what they went through they’d never get along. They’d kill each other before even considering getting along, even if it was for her sake.

Sam placed a hand on her stomach to calm herself, feeling the small baby bump that had started to form. It wasn’t noticeable enough for anyone to question anything and the baby wasn’t kicking yet, but it gave Sam comfort. She jumped when she realized she hadn’t even told Sidney or Gale that she was pregnant. The only people she told were Billy, Danny, Tara, and then Mindy and Chad, in that order mind you.

Suddenly she didn’t really want to tell them that was pregnant, at least not at the moment. It wasn’t like she’d be able to hide it forever. Still it hurt that they wanted her to cut out a person that had become so vital in her life. If she cut Billy out it would be like losing her (Step) father again. Her heart broke, she knew she would one day have to pick who she wanted in her family because of this.

Sam didn’t know if it was a good or a bad thing that she knew she would pick Billy a thousand times over Sidney and Gale every time.
