I Saw A Knight…

Summary:

As the long-time bully of Season 1, Chainsaw finds himself unamused by the new contestants for Season 2, especially one in particular by the name of "Knight Helmet".

Yet...there seems to be a certain charm to the guy that he just can't resist...

No matter how stupid he is.

Notes:

I've written Malasaw.

I've written Chainshard (sort of).

So now...

It's time to write KNIGHTSAW.

(Btw I used a prompt to make this, but no part of the original prompt's text was used at all.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Chainsaw was bored.

He never really liked the new contestants that were introduced for Season 2, if anything they were just more people to bully. After all, they were...well...weird, to say the least. A guy who did nothing but play videogames, more nerds, some happy-go-lucky and shy girls, even the new guys were completely different from the rough and tough guys from Season 1. But of course, the one who REALLY stood out amongst them was the object named "Knight Helmet". Like, who did the guy think he was? Did he get hit with a truck and wake up thinking he'd fallen into an Isekai where everyone would immediately befriend him and use "the power of friendship" to "save the day"?

Pssh, what a load of nonsense.

He spoke of "bravery and honor", but to Chainsaw? He just reeked of "sore loser that was only playing the hero to compensate for something else". It was completely idiotic, which was definitely the reason Chainsaw kept looking at him whenever he spoke up around him. It was just...unbelievable that he could even live like this, with his weird speeches, and dramatic gestures, and...charming smile...

It was all so disgusting, really.

Chainsaw scoffed at the thought of the guy. Actually, Knight Helmet wasn't too far away from him at the moment, he was currently talking to Plasma Ball and Caramel Cube about some extremely difficult "quest" he'd gone on a few days ago. Chainsaw paid it no attention, though he did glance at the guy a little from where he sat. Just...to watch how pathetic he was, of course. No other reason, nope!

Oh, but how sunlight reflected off of him to give him that perfect metallic sparkle...and how that vibrant red hair stood out against the cloudless blue sky. Chainsaw said nothing, but...he found himself glancing over for longer than usual. Was it just him, or had it gotten a little hotter around here? Must've just been the weather, there was no way he was falling for this idiot. What were they talking about, anyway?

Chainsaw didn't hear the entirety of it, but he could've sworn Plasma Ball had said something about Knight Helmet not being "brave enough" and asking him to "prove it" by going to the woods and doing something. Chainsaw watched with amusement as Knight Helmet scoffed before pointing his sword outwards, charging into the forest only seconds later while the other two girls snickered behind him. He probably wouldn't be long, though if he actually followed through with this, Chainsaw wouldn't mind seeing the result. Time passed, and eventually Plasma Ball and Caramel Cube switched to talking about something else.

Chainsaw got up from where he was sitting, mostly to stretch a little...though for some strange reason, he soon found himself walking down the path Knight Helmet had taken earlier. It was probably because he couldn't wait to see him fail, heh. Chainsaw chuckled to himself at the thought of Knight Helmet running back the way he came, screaming in terror. Probably something along the lines of-

"AAAAAUUUGHHH!"

Yeah, like that.

...

Wait.

Chainsaw paused mid-step as the scream rung through his system. Looking around, he saw no indication of anyone running towards the area, despite how loud the shout was.

Did. Did nobody else hear that?

He looked back towards the path he'd come from, and realized that he'd already walked a fair distance away from the main competition grounds. So if nobody heard that, then...Knight Helmet was suffering all alone in the woods! Well dang, if that was the case, Chainsaw might as well leave the guy to his own business! Wouldn't be his fault if he died!

...

...

Okay fine, he could check up on him just this once, and then leave.

Chainsaw huffed as he set off to find Knight Helmet. Surely someone as dramatic as him wouldn't be hard to find in a simple green forest, and that indeed seemed to be the case as the tall blue-cased blade noticed a bright red against the leafy background of the place. Chainsaw kept his eye on that spot of color as he made his way over in case it was something else, but sure enough, it was Knight Helmet. As he made his way past the forest bushes, Chainsaw walked into the nearby clearing to get a better look at what exactly had caused the shout...though he spotted it almost immediately.

A tree had apparently fallen on Knight Helmet's leg.

How did this happen? Who knew. But either way, Knight Helmet seemed to be holding back tears as he desperately tried to push against the fallen tree, as if trying to just...roll it off or something. Naturally though, the tree wasn't budging. It was a pathetic attempt, really.

Chainsaw could show him how a real man would do it, which is why he walked over and gave the tree a shove of his own. He ignored whatever words came out of Knight Helmet's mouth as he pushed and pulled, quickly finding out that this...was a lot harder than it looked.

...why did he feel weird about failing in front of this guy again?

No, no, he didn't. He didn't feel anything at all. The guy deserved this! Yeah, that's right! In fact, he should just turn around and leave!

So he did. Sort of.

"Wh...huh?! Where are you going?!" Knight Helmet exclaimed.

"I tried, I failed," Chainsaw shrugged. "Good luck getting it off or whatever, my work here is done."

"But...but you can't give up this easily, can you?" Knight Helmet begged. "What are you, a villain?"

"Maybe I am," Chainsaw grinned as he looked back at the guy. "What's it to you?"

Knight Helmet seemed to stare back at him for a moment, and for a split second Chainsaw could've sworn he felt a pang of guilt strike him in the gut...but then Knight Helmet spoke again.

"Wait. You're a chainsaw, right?" he asked. "Why can't you just...I don't know, saw the tree off me or something?"

Chainsaw blinked at that, shortly before processing what the shorter object had just said.

"I...I don't really like doing chainsaw-y things," he quickly replied in an attempt to dissuade the other object. "Don't ask me any more questions."

"Oh come on!" Knight Helmet exclaimed. "You know what, fine. If you won't help me, then I'll MAKE you!"

"Good luck with that," Chainsaw scoffed confidently.

"Now, where's your cord...?"

"I-huh?!"

Chainsaw froze, almost completely caught off guard by the question.

"I uh...I don't have one! Duh!" he laughed nervously, turning around to avoid looking at Knight Helmet. "Don't go looking for it, you'll just be wasting your time..."

There was no way he was telling his guy his cord was in a compartment on his back. No way he-

"Then what's that weird outline thingy right there?"

He probably shouldn't have turned his back to him like that.

"Is that...a panel of some kind?"

Chainsaw found himself unable to move as he felt the "blade" end of Knight Helmet's wooden sword poke his back a few times. I mean, how embarrassing would it be to get stabbed with a piece of wood like that? Probably not as embarrassing as some guy you definitely didn't secretly find cute finding and pulling out the cord you kept hidden within yourself, but still pretty bad.

Wait hold on a second-

"Oh, there it is, I found it!" Knight Helmet said. "Hold still, I got this!"

"Wait, what are you-"

Chainsaw was cut off as Knight Helmet yanked down on his cord, the sound of the motor inside of him making a loud mechanical sound as he revved up. In only a few seconds, Chainsaw could feel the blades of his head start to spin as a hum came from his chest area, and before he knew it, Knight Helmet had managed to reach over and grab his handle.

"Wh...what the heck..." he breathed, unable to comprehend what was going on.

Knight Helmet was surprisingly careful with him though, gently pulling him back into the fallen tree on his leg at a bit of an angle to avoid hurting himself. Chainsaw winced as he was brought against the large piece of wood, bracing for any sort of pain...but surprisingly, nothing came from it. He just sort of...went right through it without much resistance. He didn't know how long it took, but one moment Knight Helmet was holding him and the next...he was free.

Knight Helmet had let go of his cord, causing the saw spinning and motor humming to slow to a stop. He'd then grabbed his sword again and struck the tree a few times, easily managing to pull himself away from the tree in a matter of seconds. His leg of course, still looked very damaged, but at least he was free now. Chainsaw sighed before turning around to leave, his ACTUAL work here now done. He of course, also picked up the panel for his back and put his cord away too.

"Wait...you're not going to help?" Knight Helmet asked.

"You can walk back yourself!" Chainsaw pouted. "And you can't "make me" help you walk back either, so don't even try!"

"Pleeeeaaase?" Knight Helmet begged. "Just...just this once?"

"It's not very knight-like of you to ask for help from a "villain" like myself," Chainsaw teased.

"Yeah, well. Sometimes the hero and the villain have to team up to combat a greater foe!" Knight Helmet shot back without hesitation. "Maybe if you help me...I'll help you later down the road?"

'Dangit, he got me there,' Chainsaw growled in is thoughts. 'Whatever. There's no way I'll-'

"Fine, but you have to PROMISE you'll help me when I ask for it," Chainsaw found himself saying in response.

It was just another pawn to control, he reasoned. And it was really that easy to get one, too! Yet...a part of him didn't want to treat Knight Helmet like that, at least that was his thought as he went over to the shorter object's side. Maybe it was just his motor needing to cool down, but Chainsaw still felt warm as Knight Helmet wrapped an arm around his side. The two then proceeded to make their way out of the forest clearing together, Chainsaw saying nothing the entire time...

After all, he definitely didn't have a crush on such a loser like Knight Helmet.

...

Did he?

Notes:

My mutual was like "why would anyone ship this" and I said "as a joke shortly before shipping it seriously" and boom they started shipping it lol. So I wrote them a Knightsaw fic since there are like none on here!! Also almost all of the Chainsaws fics on here so far are him being in denial/hj
