Danger Zone - a Tom Cruise fanfiction

Summary:

Jules works freelance for various publications after a burnout that literally brought her to her knees. She gets asked to "interview" for a role in Tom's team, especially the German speaking market (we just assume that kinda role exists).

She is skeptical to work for him out of fear to be reeled in re: Scientology. Also, due to a VERY ugly breakup with a previous client which led to her compensating her anger with more and more work which eventually caused the burnout, she has one rule: "I don't date my clients!"

But once she gets to work with him, and Tom gets to know her better, they start to understand each other.

However - there's the anti psychiatry stance of Scientology which will be forever between them. But will it really? Can Tom win her heart and will Jules be able to untangle his Scientology web?

this is purely a product of my imagination. Aside from the original characters - Jules, Nora and some others - I don't own any of the people in the story. I also don't own the songs that are being quoted at the end of each chapter. Also, the story was in the making and being written already before some more recent events happened. Therefore, the timeline in the story at the time of writing is different from actual, real life events (e.g. Oscar Nominees Luncheon).

absolute Wild Child and dare devil: loves adrenaline rushes (skydiving etc)

unconventional, authentic, the Queen of Sass, and does whatever the fuck she wants

rides a Honda Fireblade motorcycle

legally changed her name from Julia to Jules

polar opposite to Tom re: psychiatric meds because of her history (burnout)

took a Sabbatical after her burnout, now freelancing

"For fuck's sake!" is kind of her trademark expression

 

Nora:

Jules's best friend for more than 20 years, her Ride or Die, cheerleader and anchor

her outer appearance is up to the reader's imagination ;-)

bisexual (although never really mentioned, but hinted at)

can read Jules like an open book, even when her guard's up

concerned when Jules tells her about her new role, as she knows a lot about Scientology and how quickly you get sucked in

the only person Jules trusts with her life

saved Jules's ass (and life) on multiple occasions

also the one who realizes before Jules does that Jules has fallen for Tom and keeps teasing the fuck out of her bestie

"If you manage to get this man out of Scientology, I will personally hand you a goddamn Nobel Prize!" (that was actually the sentence with which Nora came to life)
