Work Text:

A More and More typical Morning

He woke up feeling the absence of his symbiote suit their bond was strong enough that he could tell that the suit was still in the apartment but even just a few months ago he’d have never woken up without it all over him without worrying. However, now with Steve here it was just a peaceful feeling as he climbed out of bed grabbing the boxer briefs he’d discarded the night before and pulling them on no point in messing up a clean pair when he’d be taking a shower sooner or later. He headed toward the small alcove where Steve had set up an easel to do some painting knowing from experience that he’d find his lover and his other half there together.

Sure enough as he approached he saw Steve painting with the Symbiote stretched out over his shoulders watching and probably commenting since while touching someone else it could communicate with them. He had to smile at the sight because ever since the suit had revealed itself as alive to him and they had ended up permanently bonding most of the folks he dated hadn’t wanted anything to do with the suit itself. Steve wasn’t like that he’d accepted the suit from the beginning and it had very quickly responded to him in ways it never had with anyone else. The two of them would often leave him to sleep in and spend mornings together the suit hanging off Steve as he did his work outs, painted or cooked breakfast. He could still remember the memorable day when he’d woken up and learned it had gone with Steve on his morning run.

He some times privately wondered if it actually liked Steve better than him. “Morning,” he said drawing their attention and getting a kiss from Steve in response and the symbiote flowed off Steve back onto him.

“Love Peter best,” it said in his thoughts, “Love Steve too second best.” He guessed the suit must have picked up on his thoughts. He found himself smiling. He glanced over at the painting Steve was doing and was surprised to see it was Aunt May. “My idea for Aunt’s birthday.”

“Thanks you two,” he said and Steve nodded apparently having guessed that the suit would tell him. “So why don’t we get cleaned up and go out for Breakfast this morning unless you want me to cook.”

“I think we’ll go out,” Steve said and then began to clean up his brushes. “Just let me put this stuff away and grab a quick shower.” He then looked back at him, “And don’t worry I won’t turn the water up to hot this time.”

“Good we join Steve in shower,” the suit said cheerfully in his head. “Scrub Steve’s back.” That was another difference from past relationships his other half was more into the physical side of the relationship than it ever had been before. “Steve likes us involved, not shrinking away.”

“I think we’d like to join you,” he said to Steve who was putting the last of the paint away. “Though I’m not sure how clean any of us are going to get.” Steve gave him a wicked grin that was very different than how he smiled as Captain America and his suit simply let him know it didn’t care how clean they got it wanted in the shower with him and Steve and privately he couldn’t agree more.
