Work Text:
Aaron was the first to wake up this morning, which was odd even for himself. The dusk in the room allowed sunbeams to go through the window blinds and settle in different shapes of light everywhere they could - on the wardrobe, on the carpet, on Alexander's bare back right next to Aaron.
Alex was lying on his stomach, his face buried in the pillow, and turned away from the window. Being not fully awake, Burr still noticed that his partner was sleeping a lot more soundly than usual - Hamilton was still in the position he was in when he fell asleep last night and not wriggling and squirming as he usually did. It wasn't much of a surprise to Aaron - Alex had gotten home way later than he should've had and was way more exhausted than ever. Thank God it was Sunday, and today they had absolutely no meetings, trials, or anything else planned. They could finally have their rather well-deserved rest.
His gaze couldn't break away from Hamilton's back covered in countless jolly freckles that spread across his tawny skin like stars, and Aaron felt like if he looked long enough, he'd discover some new constellations there. The stripes of sunlight made Alexander's skin shimmer in some magical way. Burr wondered why he'd notice something like this only now, but he was happy he did, he enjoyed the view maybe even a little too much.
Aaron leaned closer to Alexander to start pressing light, almost weightless kisses on his back, one right next to another as if he was trying not to miss a single freckle. He felt Hamilton's back slightly rising and falling in the rhythm of his calm breathing; of course, he didn't want to disturb Hamilton's blissful sleep he finally got to have, but the feelings of adoration and inexplicable warmth in his chest were truly irresistible. Aaron suddenly realized that they hadn't had a moment like this in a very long time - both of them being busy with work and never getting a break to just lie down and enjoy each other's company for some time without thoughts about anything important hovering over them. The man's hand slid under the blanket to Alexander's left side, holding him gently, while he still left soft kisses on his lover's back, seemingly in some kind of trance.
“Aaron… what time is it?” Burr heard Hamilton's muffled raspy voice, even though he hadn't even moved under Aaron's arm.
“It doesn't matter, dear,” Aaron whispered, leaning a bit closer and kissing the back of Alexander's neck right where one of his birthmarks was, 'it doesn't matter. Go back to sleep.'
“No, you don't understand, I need to be-” the man argued almost reluctantly. Aaron could tell that his eyes were still closed without seeing his face, and he laughed silently because it was so in his partner's style.
“You don't need to be anywhere, it's Sunday, Alex. Relax and go back to sleep.”
“Only if you keep on kissing me…”
Aaron chuckled. Oh, this man. “I will. Of course, I will.” He reached out a bit and smooched Alexander's cheek, catching a glimpse of him in some unusual state of peace and inner satisfaction that resulted in a blissful smile on his sleepy face. God, why did Burr feel almost overwhelmed with what he was experiencing right now?
“Love you,” Alex murmured.
Instead of kissing him silently in response, as Aaron always used to do, he pressed the side of his face to his lover's back, to the shimmering spots of light and all the new constellations.
“Love you too.”
