alone in the woods

Summary:

Jimmy and Scott have some alone time after running away from the Nosy Neighbors

Work Text:

Scott fought off laughter as he ran away from Pearl and BigB, Jimmy's wrist in his hand as the other shouted and cursed their two adversaries.

They stumbled past Clocker's Tower, waving to Scar, and rushed through the remains of the dark oak forest. The yelling had quieted down by now, distant explosions being the only sound around them.

The grip Scott had on Jimmy's wrist loosened and he instead threaded their fingers together. Jimmy squeezed back, jogging slightly to catch up to Scott's fast paced walk.

"They killed Judge Judy and Executioner…" Jimmy mumbled. Scott could hear his wings unfurl to wrap around Jimmy and he squeezed their hands tighter.

"It's okay," Scott whispered back. "We'll get revenge. I'm sure Joel and Grian will help out too."

Jimmy hummed in acknowledgement. He pulled further up and bumped their shoulders together, smiling gratefully, "Thanks for helping me find her in the first place."

Scott grinned back, leaning forward until their foreheads brushed. They slowed to a stop, Jimmy's wings coming up to wrap around the both of them, and Scott said, "I knew how much he meant to you, of course I helped. I'll always be here to do so."

"Yeah…"

They stand there in silence for a few moments, together. Jimmy's wings are good shelter to the wind and echoing noises of screams. Scott's fins flutter contently and his tail comes up to wrap around their ankles. Jimmy laughs a little at that, his arms coming up to wrap around Scott's waist.

"So, you only love your mother?" Scott teased, reaching up a hand to trace the feathers along the edge of Jimmy's cheeks. Jimmy blushes red at that and wiggles in Scott's hold to look away.

"You were being annoying about my co- my sheeps." Jimmy argued. "And it's not like you listened to that anyway."

Scott rolled his eyes, "Obviously not. Besides, it was painfully clear that it was a lie. Joel would cry if you so much as implied in his presence that he doesn't love you and Grian."

Jimmy laughed so hard Scott shook with him, "True, true. I honestly believed Lizzie would force her way into this game if Joel did start crying."

"Probably. She scares me a little," Scott shivered, nose wrinkling at the thought of a very angry Lizzie joining. Jimmy just laughed harder. His wings ruffled at that and Scott couldn't help but coo at the sight.

Jimmy squawked at the noise, feathers fluffing up further. At Scott's second coo, Jimmy yelped, "What's that for?"

"It's so cute how you do that," Scott snickered. He reached over to run his fingers through the soft fluff, savoring the way Jimmy melted into him.

With Jimmy's head tucked beneath his chin, Scott was given free access to the two large. Slowly, Scott began to preen Jimmy's wings, pulling out loose yellow feathers and picking rocks out from between folds. Jimmy warbled against him and Scott's tail wrapped around him tighter.

"I've missed this." Scott confessed, twirling a plucked feather between his fingers. Jimmy made a questioning noise against him. "These quiet moments between us. Lately, there's always been something going on. Whether it's something being stolen or someone blowing up or you trying to be evil, there's never any peace these days."

Jimmy nodded, "Yeah. I think the last time we got any peace was… was probably the date back in Empires Season 1."

Scott's grin grew wider at that. He snickered and threaded the feathers through his own hair. "That was fun. I think we should do that again," Scott replied.

"Broken minecart railings and weird heart hallways and all?"

"Right down to you not knowing how to take flowers out of pots."

"That was one time!" Jimmy cried, pulling out of the hug. His brows were furrowed and his lips were pursed, but it was clear he was trying not to laugh.

Scott shook his head and poked Jimmy in the chest, "No it wasn't, and you know it. You did it three times on the date, at least."

"I wanted the poppies!" Jimmy tried to defend. His put upon act fell quickly though, and he was soon laughing along with Scott.

Their moment didn't last too much longer, however. Martyn crashed through the brush, looking as frazzled as can be.

"Oh." He mumbled. "Uh, sorry, I can-"

"Way to ruin a moment!" Scott scolded, fins flaring. Martyn put his hands up placidly.

Jimmy squeezed Scott's hand one more time before he pulled back. "Nah, we were just going to go. You're fine," despite Jimmy's words, his look wasn't one of a man too pleased.

"You sure? Cause I absolutely can go bother Skizz." Martyn raised an eyebrow, looking between the two.

Jimmy shook his head, "I'm sure. See you two around!" He made to run off, but Scott caught his wrist.

"Hey," he whispered. "Say I love you."

Eyes softening, Jimmy leaned forward and gave Scott a quick kiss, "I love you."

"Can you two do that anywhere else? You're making me sick with your affection."

"We are in the middle of the woods, Martyn! Where else do you want us to do it!"

"Not here!"
