Chapter Text
Felix and his husband, Marcus were getting ready in the master bedroom. The two husbands were also getting ready to go out on a date night. This is not only the first date night since they have moved to the new city but the first one since they have gotten married, too. While Felix was excited about it, Marcus, on the other hand, was feeling a little uneasy about it.
It was more about going to a new place that he has never been before that has him on edge than anything else at the moment.
Not to mention..people tend to look and judge them when they are in the eyes of the public. Always have always felt that way. While Felix could care less about what others thought about him, Marcus tends to worry about how others view and see him. And the only opinion that matters to him for the most part is his husband’s. And Felix’s opinion is the only one that matters to Marcus, too.
Felix turned to look at his husband with a smile on his face as he just finished putting the last couple of small touches on his outfit. They may be just going out to dinner but Felix wanted to look cute. For himself and for Marcus, too. The expression on Marcus's face was neither of happiness or of sadness. It was just more neutral than anything else.
“Are you feeling okay to go out to eat?” Felix asked him, just wanting to make sure. Marcus gave him a nod.
“Yes. I am fine. Just thinking about something that just popped up on my mind all of a sudden.” Marcus replied.
“Do you want to talk about it? We got time. It is not like we have a reservation or anything like that. I am here to listen, only if you want to, of course. You do not have to if you do not feel like it or if you need to wait, that is fine, too." Felix asked him another question and let him know. Marcus hesitated for a few seconds before talking to Felix once again. He was fine talking to him about it. It was just more about explaining what was going on was more of an issue for him than anything else.
“I do not know why but I just suddenly feel weird about going out. I also feel a little nervous about it, too. Not sure why I feel this way but I just do.” Marcus told him.
“Do you want to cancel our plans to go out and just order in? It is okay if you do. I understand.” Felix asked and suggested.
“Oh, no no no! I do want to go out with you! I am not saying that I do not want to! I am not feeling weird about going out with you but more of when it comes to myself being out in public as a whole. But I am fine being with you in public. I know that I should be used to people staring at me at such but..I guess that deep down, I am not used to it at all. And I know I should have a backbone of my own yet..I am always worried about causing more trouble for myself. And creating and/or adding to drama, too. I have always been scared of things like that, too.” Marcus explained to him.
Felix walked over and stood in front of his husband. Still with a smile on his sweet, sun-kissed and freckled face. No matter how many times Marcus sees Felix’s face every day, he will never get tired of it.
“I understand how you truly feel. But, if something happens, you do not need to worry. I will stand up for you. I am not much about drama myself but when it comes to you, I rather support you than letting the other person be an ass and say horrible things about and to you. Also, if someone is trying to hurt you, verbally, physically and even mentally, if they are the one that started it, then you have the right to call them out for it. Since this is a new town that we are living in, that could also be why you are feeling nervous. But remember, I am here and will protect you and I always will.” Felix told him.
Even if Marcus is afraid to stand up for himself (because of his trauma of him trying to do that in the past), Felix is not. He will always protect Marcus from ignorant and horrible people. Even when it comes to Marcus’s own family members as well. Which has happened before while they were engaged and visiting his family in his hometown.
“That is very true.” Marcus said then took a deep breath.
“It is just that I wish I did not have the mind that I do. I am so sorry that I am like this at times. I just really can not help when the feelings just suddenly creep up on me like without a warning. And I know that I do not have much of a backbone and I need to work on that a lot.” Marcus apologized to Felix. It is not that he would not stand up for Felix, though.
Standing up for Felix is different for him than when it comes to himself. Felix was not upset with Marcus nor blames him for how he feels in any way. Felix held one of Marcus’s hands in his as they kept looking at one another.
“Marcus, hun, you are fine the way you are. No need to apologize for feeling the way you do, too. From what you have told me, you have had trauma happen in your life. It is okay to feel cautious, anxious and even nervous when you are in a place that you are unfamiliar with at the moment. I am also a little nervous myself, not going to lie, but since I am going to be with you, the nervousness I tend to feel is so much less than what I usually do. You make me feel so much better.” Felix told him.
Marcus suddenly smiled at his adorable husband. Felix was happy to see that smile. Nor will he ever get tired of it.
“Even with feeling nervous and such, I am quite happy to be going out with you, too. I promise. Even if it is just going out for dinner, being with you makes me feel less nervous and very happy, too. I just got to get used to things since we are still new to this city.” Marcus also told him as well.
“I get that and I am excited to be going to dinner with you, too. I have to get used to the new city, too.” Felix said back to him then gave Marcus a kiss on the cheek before letting go of his hand. The two of them finished getting ready in the bedroom then headed downstairs to the living room before heading out of the door and into the car. As they got in, Marcus got into the driver’s seat while Felix sat on the passenger’s side with him in the front.
When Marcus placed both of his hands onto the steering wheel, he suddenly turned his head and looked at Felix once again.
“Are you ready to head out, darling?” Marcus asked, just to make sure. Felix looked back at him then gave him a nod.
“Yes, babe! I am ready to go whenever you are.” Felix happily answered. Marcus felt the same as he gave him a nod then turned his head to look forward again.
“Then let’s rock and roll, baby!” Marcus also happily exclaimed as well then turned on the car then pulled out a few seconds later from the driveway and made their way down the street and on the road. Felix and Marcus turned on the radio and listened to music on the way there. While Felix was jamming to the music, Marcus kept his eyes on the road but..it does not mean that he was not enjoying hearing Felix having the time of his life.
Felix’s singing was absolutely soothing to Marcus. He loves Felix’s voice and everything else about him. Felix noticed that Marcus was smiling from the corner of his eye and stopped then turned his head to look at him.
“Enjoying the music?” Felix asked.
“Yes I am but only because you are the one that is singing the song. I love your voice so much.” Marcus replied. Felix looked forward again, smiling.
“I personally think I sound terrible when I sing out loud like that but I really do appreciate the compliment.” Felix piped up.
“You do not sound terrible! You sound very lovely. Wonderful. Amazing . You have a unique voice and I think that is one of things that makes you just incredible. At least, that is how I feel about your voice. It also gives me happy feelings, too.” Marcus added.
“In a sexual or non-sexual way?” Felix spoke out of curiosity. Marcus also suddenly bushed on his cheeks.
“I would be lying if I did not say that it was not both. Regardless, it just makes me happy.” Marcus answered. Felix sweetly chuckled to himself.
“So do you, babe. So do you.” Felix told him. For the rest of the way to where they were going to eat, the two of them sat in silence, just letting the music play throughout the speakers of the car. But their hearts felt so full of joy while they had smiles on their faces. Even without saying another word, they were just enjoying being with one another.
“I am really glad I can make Marcus happy. Just like he makes me feel. I really also feel like I am the luckiest man in the world having him as my husband.” Felix thought. For Marcus, there was no doubt that he felt the same way about having Felix being his husband, too. It seems that their date night is going well so far for the two of them.
But..will the feeling be able to make it through the rest of the night?
