Work Text:

Chuuya was beyond nervous.

He was standing outside of Old World, where he was meant to meet up with his friends. They were all great, but he was always worried people wouldn’t accept him. Coming out was a terrifying thing, even when he wanted people to know, unlike what happened with Dazai. When the younger had walked in on Chuuya changing, and then ran out with a bright red face.

The rest of that week, every time they saw each other, Chuuya intentionally made fun of him. Saying the great demon prodigy was scared of boobs had been hilarious, although it got them some weird looks when he teased Dazai in semi-public places. However, everything was easier with the dumbest smart guy, Chuuya had ever met. So, it didn’t make him less nervous to come out to his friends.

Finally gathering his courage, he stepped into Old World. By the billiards table was Albatross, and Doc, the other three were by the bar. Pianoman noticed Chuuya and waved, which led the teen over to the group by the bar. Hopping onto a bar stool, he ordered some wine to loosen his lips enough to spill his secret.

“I’m glad you showed up, we were wondering if you would show at all tonight. Honestly, seems like you’re working harder than us to become an executive,” Lippmann joked, ruffling the redhead.

“Sorry about being late, I had some work to finish up before coming here, and Dazai was being an asshole. Made me do report, and I had to drag him back,” Chuuya complained, remembering how Dazai had been difficult, only to tell him that he could come out, and that he’d do great.

Having noticed the arrival of their youngest member, Albatross ran over. “I didn’t think you’d show! Glad to see ya, though.”

He smiled at him, but Chuuya knew his nerves were getting worse. Doc was coming over to them, so he decided he’d just blurt it out once he got to the bar. Since the more time that passed, the less he wanted to come out that evening.

“You want to play a round of billiards?” Iceman offered, wanting to beat Chuuya in a game.

“In a couple minutes.” Chuuya brushed him off, preparing himself to tell them.

“We should totally team up,” Albatross suggested, “then maybe we’d stand a chance.”

Seeing this as good a moment as ever, Chuuya blurted out, “I’ve been wanting to tell you guys something.” Suddenly, all five sets of eyes were on him.

Doc broke the silence that came about right after. “What’s up kid?”

“Well…” Chuuya began, eyes nervously flitting around. “I’m trans. I just really wanted to tell you guys, cause it felt weird that you didn’t know. Like, I don’t got a dick, but I’m still a guy.”

“I understand, and am glad you trust us enough to tell us.” Lippmann patted him on the back, seeing how nervous he looked.

Albatross took that as a chance to get in his space. “You’re still the kid we met months ago. It’s chill that you don’t got a dick, doesn’t make ya any less of a man.”

The kind comments caught him off guard, and Chuuya felt like he might start tearing up. Feeling so glad to be accepted by the people he chose as his new family. Without warning, he pulled the nearest person into a hug, which ended up being the chaotic blonde.

An awkward chuckle could be heard from Albatross as he hugged back. “You good bud?”

“Mhm, happy,” he mumbled, holding on tight. “Didn’t think it would go well.”

“Chuuya, we’ll accept you no matter what. You’re one of us,” Pianoman reassured, not liking the idea of the teen doubting how much they cared about him.

The soft moment dissolved soon after, and Chuuya joined his friends for a couple rounds of billiards. Wiping the floor with their asses, as he won again and again. His nervousness was gone, replaced by joy, and laughter, which kept bubbling up whenever Albatross made a dumb comment.

This was just what he’d needed.
